There is definitely a Contour/Mondeo RC body, but I don't think that's what you're interested in.

Turbocharged Lincoln LS Build Thread...Pics and Vids Inside...

@ILLS - exactly. Anyone can make 1000hp for one pass, ha! Can't wait to see the final results, though. The build is impressive so far.

    Jaguar S-Type Coilovers for LS

I don't believe that anyone involved in this thread has reached a definitive answer yet. I am still looking for a chassis. I'm trying to, through a friend who is a registered car dealer, find an inoperable LS (blown motor or trans). I'd also take a theft recovery as long as the chassis was...

Turbocharged Lincoln LS Build Thread...Pics and Vids Inside...

Yes, because heavens forbid that someone build a motor that is actually affordable, reliable, and reasonable. Being a perfectionist and being someone who wants to spend a tremendous amount of money don't necessarily have anything to do with each other. Also, do not forget, one of the...

    Jaguar S-Type Coilovers for LS

KenS, Thanks for the heads up. I have associates looking for a car at auction for me right now. As soon as I'm able to get a chassis and start gutting it, I wouldn't mind simply sending the entire stock suspension out to Koni if they would be willing to donate the product for testing purposes.

    Jaguar S-Type Coilovers for LS

Do you remember who you spoke to? If I can get the important measurements off of the LS I can send those to my associate at KW and see if I can get an answer. But, if I pick up a car soon, I might just be able to send the whole stock suspension to KW and let them mess with it.

    Track prepared LS

Do you have any reasoning why tracking a car with a blower is going to be as bad as you say? Is it the "road racing" part or the "blower" part? @fasmust - I don't understand your comment about displacement/horsepower. The 4.6 Ford motor is almost twice as big as whatever motor you have in...

    Speaker suggestions

Some people just really feel that, even with an aftermarket head unit, you need to get an amp for "ultimate" performance. Unless you are a supreme audiophile, I don't think that you will notice much difference in most music that you will listen to if you just do a head unit with speakers...

    Track prepared LS

NP fasmust. The differential is not really an issue if you don't mind an open diff, but for a full-on "race car" you would want limited slip. Right now the Mark VIII carrier with the Cobra IRS internals seems to be the best option requiring the least fabrication. There is someone that has a...

    Speaker suggestions

check www.crutchfield.com for reviews and opinions and then go find the best price :) My friend's car audio site isn't up yet or I'd refer you there. I like Polk speakers very much -- they have extraordinarily strong mid and high and good lows, but you can get a sub later and just turn...

    Track prepared LS

Oops! I read the article long ago, thanks for correcting me. Either way, it was a 4.6 with a blower, so you can definitely fit something more gratuitous in the bay without issue. IIRC they did use an automatic, though?

Planning to get new Head Unit and misc

Can't really go wrong with Alpine. JVC is OK, but, IMO, not as high quality as Alpine. Then again, I've been away from Alpines for a number of years. The Alpine may look a little sporty for the Lincoln interior, but I'm not sure who is making calmer head-units these days. Sony has a...

    Manual Transmission Swap?

Umm I'm guessing from that that it was an automatic transmission swap...?

    Manual Transmission Swap?

I don't mind the codes. What standalone transmission swap did you do? Was this on an LS?

    Track prepared LS

I hope it's a lot of money! The book says the LS weigh ~3400#. I figure if you were to gut the car you could easily get it below 3000# WITH a cage. See above. No one *HERE* has made a purpose-built LS. The only one, to my knowledge, was the works effort put forth by Ford/Lincoln to...

    Engine Swap 4.6 or 5.4

The 3.9 makes nearly as much power as most run-of-the-mill 4.6s. A rear-mount turbo would probably not be that extraordinarily difficult to plumb and there are already ECU tuners that can handle that part of things. That might be a better bet. I'm looking to build a race car and was...

What the next LS should be based on!

Probably because their main concern is the masses -- I don't think there are enough LS owners for Ford to be concerned primarily with them, you know? Now, on the other hand, a car like that could easily have its platform reformatted several times. It could also be a fighter to the...

    Engine Swap 4.6 or 5.4

Because of the electronics involved it would seem that a 4.6 or 5.4 swap would result in a car that could not pass emissions in most states or use any factory gauges/accessories. If you are looking to build a full-on race car you will have no problems.

    Manual Transmission Swap?

If the hard part is not mating a manual or fitting a manual, what manuals will mate and fit to the 3.9 V8? @ILLS: If you did nothing to the computer after mating the trans would the car even run?

    Differential Help

I plan on having this thing in my garage on jackstands for a long long time :) Thanks for the advice! The 4V Cobra motors are much cheaper, you're right. This thread is way off topic from diffs, so I will PM you or see you over on modularfords.com ;)
