2002 lincoln LS Power steering stopped working, fluid leaking under the car

We have a 2002 LS V6 and I looked up this part >>> 1W4Z-3N824-DA and it says it doesn't fit my LS Does the V6 have a different switch?
This site shows it fitting.
Is your switch on the power steering pump, or in the middle of the high pressure power steering hose?

Wow! How strange the other sites I checked said it didn't fit. I am not sure about the location of the switch yet, but will be looking for the leak location tomorrow. I hoped this is where our leak is because if this is not it, I will probably have to go to the mechanic.
 
It was the one on the pump and we tried to replace it but now I'm not sure how to get the air out of the system

CAUTION: If the air is not purged from the power steering system correctly, premature power steering pump failure can result. The condition can occur on pre-delivery vehicles with evidence of aerated fluid or on vehicles that have had steering componentrepairs.


  1. NOTE: A whine heard from the power steering pump can be caused by air in the system. The power steering purge procedure must be carried out prior to any component repair for which power steering noise complaints are accompanied by evidence of aeratedfluid.
    Remove the power steering pump reservoir cap. Check the fluid.

  1. Raise the front wheels off the floor. Refer to the appropriate section in Group 100 for the procedure.

  1. Tightly insert the stopper of the vacuum pump into the reservoir.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Install the vacuum pump, apply vacuum, and maintain the maximum vacuum of 68-85 kPa (20-25 in-Hg).

  1. If equipped with Hydro-Boost®, apply the brake pedal twice.

    CAUTION: Do not hold the steering wheel against the stops for more than 3 to 5 seconds at a time. Damage to the power steering pump can occur.

    Cycle the steering wheel fully from stop-to-stop 10 times.

    Fill the reservoir.
    • Use approved transmission fluid.

There's a power steering pressure switch under near on drivers side. I've replaced it twice now. About thirty bucks.
