BS law in MO!!!

So im watching the news and theyre trying to propose a law that says no automobile can have a speaker bigger than 10" and they cant face the back of the trunk. Just a stupid law and stupid post but i thought it was BS
 
Huh? Why the hell do they care? AND...how will they know unless they pull you over and search the car? I'm sure it would never pass.
 
There is no way they can pass a stupid law like that. They should worry more about important stuff then the size of your cars speakers and what way they face.

In MA it has to do with the level of stereos... if they can be heard at a distance of 100' then you can be cited. Premiss is that you can't hear emergency vehicles approaching, which is a good idea. I have no problems with people damaging their hearing, as long as they get the hell out of the way for police/fire/ambulance, etc.
 
Big deal, if you can't have 12's or bigger, just put more 10's in and call it good. Misery is stupid, move over here to the Kansas side of KC. We can tint our windows and only have to have one license plate. Misery sucks.
 
Put in 2 10" JL W7's, and a 1000/1 amp. My friend had that setup in a 4Runner. It was really loud, and still sounded pretty decent.
 
If people would just use common courtesy, then none of this would be an issue. There is NOTHING more obnoxious than to pull up to a stop light and here some guys stereo 2 lanes over blasting away to the point it hurts my ears! Then, it get worse when the "music" he's playing is profane. Start laying down the law on those guys instead of punishing those that are courteous and polite. I've seen several that turn their stereos down at lights to avoid offending anyone. Remember...your rights to modify and play your stereos at insane levels does NOT allow you to intrude upon the rights of others. It ends at your windows. Any louder than that, and you are imposing your rights on others. Kind of like smoking in public anymore.

This is a poor law with a good intention. They need to get it right...instead of this bandaid. Believe me...it will receive the support of the majority...so help them get it right and directed at the proper individuals.

Sounds like you're getting old and you need a better stereo...;)
 
I though we already had a DB level law in MO. But it is stupid to outlaw a speaker size, because with the right speaker and amp, you can make many other subs just as loud as a 12.
 
It sucks that they are considering this law. Voice your opinion about the law the more people speak out about it the harder a time they will have of passing it, if it is passed at all!!!

You are very true my friend. But I don't need a "better" stereo. The one I have plays music exceptionally well. Louder is not better. But my personal opinions aside, I have no issue...nor should I...with someone blowing their ears out with their stereo. That is their personal choice and they have every right to that. But where that right ends is when it intrudes on my ears. That is wrong. It's just like a neighbors dog that barks all night. They have the right to have a dog, but not to let it bother the neighborhood.

I know my opinion won't be popular among the younger crowd here. But I promise you all that there will come a time in your life when you agree with me. I guarantee it...

Hell, man, I agreed with you even when I was younger. I think it has much more to do with our manners and how we were raised, than our age.

I love having a loud stereo and love cranking it up. BUT, if I have my windows down, I turn it down at lights and in traffic.
 
I know when I went to SEMO there was a noise ordinance in Cape Girardeau. I am not sure if it was a statewide thing though. Their ordinance allowed the cops to confiscate the offending equipment= they take your car and strip the equipment at a later date. The two things that bother me with these noise ordinances-#1 100ft. audible stereo is capable using a factory radio, #2 I can't have a loud radio but I get woken up by a Harley across the street at 6 in the morning while he just keeps revving it over and over! Oh yeah get out of MO.
 
Passing laws like this are what politicians do to try to convince the voters that they are actually working. It's like when the latest hot button issue was hands free systems for your cell phone. If they were really interested in public safety, they would insist that the police enforce the laws already on the books, such as disturbing the peace, careless driving, etc. I'm all for people having the common courtesy of not blasting the neighborhood with whatever they happen to think is good music. I don't want to be on the same road with a distracted driver lost in a phone conversation. The point is, the authorities already have the tools they need to combat things like that if that was their goal, but the real goal is to get votes by tricking the public into believing you're doing something useful.

actually, im 19 and agree with you, age does not matter, its the individual that matters

I really can't see that happening. What are they going to tell retail stores that they can't sell or install any speaker larger than 10". No way they are going to miss out on that money.

10's are nice, but they have nothing on a 12" and can't touch a 15" when it comes to DEEP BASS, not in my opinion.;)

Not quite--passing laws like this is what happens when a lawmaker gets annoyed. I'd bet you dollars to donuts that the person who wrote this piece of legislation just heard one too many of those stereos from what we used to call the "Li'l Red Pickup" school stereo installation and decided to do something about it.

Don't be at all surprised if it passes, either. Just ask the guys who can't smoke in the bars in California what they think the odds of passage are...
 
I agree 100%, i have always had systems in my cars ranging from 3 10s, 2 12s, 4 12s, now 1 12. and i have always showed respect to other drivers when i come to a light, or see elders or young kids. I always turn it down for those other people who dont care for that stuff. I usually listen to it on highwyas and around friends.
 
i'm 18 and i like to listen to music kinda loud, but as soon as i pull up to where other cars can hear me i immediately turn it down....even though i doubt it's loud enough for them to hear anyway

it's all how you were raised rather then the age

I would agree with you if the speaker law was an isolated case, but it's not. I see this happen all the time and in cases like the hands free cell phone issue, no one was annoyed at a stop light by someone using his phone. Anytime some new subject makes the news and the pols notice the public has a strong opinion, they make speeches and propose new laws so they can be in the papers too...even if existing laws already cover the issue.
 
Very dumb idea for a law. Doesnt directly relate but kinda like seatbelt law and the one they are proposing here in Ky to ban people from using their cell phone while driving.
 
ya but the phone law is stupid too, what about the people who drive around with their little dog in their laps, or people who smoke or eat while they are driving... its the same exact thing (to me) as driving with your cell phone, and if you cant do one thing, i dont think you should be able to do the others either... and if this law you are talkin about gets passed, what about the loud ass biker dudes, just like the guy who posted earlier, i have one next to me who loves to rev his bike over and over every Sunday morning... and what about them ricers with the loud exhausts or whatever u wanna call them? if you ban one thing, i think you would have to ban the others, and to me its just all a waste of time and they should just leave things alone...
