Cool options no one knows about the LS's.

Works with all LSes.

99% of this stuff is in the OM...........
Yep. With the exception of Quik's trip odometer tip and the speaker diagnostic (is that even in the thread?), this thread could just as easily be titled "things you'd know if you'd just RTFM!"

So, do any of y'all have a tip that's not already in the Owner's Manual?

I have an 02 so I am 100% sure it works

You have mirror memory? I didn't know the '02 had that. Looks like I'm going to have to go mess around with some stuff.

Sooner this a thread for both cool things IN the manual and cool things that DIDN'T make it into the manual, if any. Most people would rather not take a day out of their life to read the entire LS manual so that is why I created this thread. Cool? Either be constructive in this thread or don't let the door hit you on the azz on your way out. ;)

I did the audio diagnostic. Just so you know it only works with the radio on in tuner mode, wont work off, or in CD mode. I have the alpine, w/subs etc.... It tested all the speakers, I can't beleive how much sound actually comes out of the console speakers. Amazing. I tinkered with the other stuff too, did the self test. It actually failed, but EVERYTHING works fine, and also tried the speed sensitive setting, thats awesome. Thanks fellas

OK, then how 'bout this:
The LS has this amazing little-known feature called an Owner's Manual that will tell you all sorts of things about your car.

If you don't have one, you can download a searchable version in PDF format from the Tech Section (pinned to the top of this forum), or from Lincoln's Owners Site ( https://secure.lincoln.com/owners/ ).

;)

Thats an improvement, though still sarcastic. Its cool, sarcasm is fun when used correctly. hehe. ;)

My sentiments exactly. If you think about it, with the exception of Lou's posting, this thread is a complete waste of bandwidth because the "tips" are in the Owner's Manual. In general, it seems like the young kids are too lazy to read it (you know who you are!) :D

I'm going to follow Sooner's suggestion. I have a bunch of "tips" I was going to post, but now I won't because they're in the manual, and I don't want to clog the board with redundant info. If you want to find those, read the manual yourself. I will, however, post tricks I've found that are not in the manual, like this one:

Dual Climate control -- it is generally known that if the driver and passenger climate settings are different, you can press and hold the Auto button to synchronize them to the driver's setting. However, you can press and hold the Auto button again, and the separate driver and passenger settings return! In this way, the Auto switch acts as a "toggle" switch.

nice tip! oh, for those with nav if you push and hold the top and bottom buttons for 5 seconds it will ask you for a password. enter 1971 (or is it 1791) and you get into the onboard diagnostics. one word of caution while in there....do NOT push the software update button in there it will wipe the firmware and try to update it even though you don't have an update disc. lots of neat stuff in there, gyro data...speed sensor......just stuff to play with.

You could probally say that about some of the post in this forum. I am not exactly young have not completely read the Owners Manual cover to cover... I can usaully find better things to do like as silly queston here :D

Besides, where is the fun in reading instructions and owners manuals, when you can ask. :D

Look what happens when we get a bunch of smart-@$$es together. I didn't mean for anyone to avoid posting cool LS features just because they're in the manual. Even those who read the manual miss cool features or forget about them, and it would be nice to have a central place to locate them, so post away...

Todd how about you be constructive or just leave? Apparently quite a few others find this thread to be of an interest which means your in the minority, so quit being an ass! Thanks.

I would ask the exact opposite: Where is the fun in asking when you can read the instructions and learn for yourself?

Hehehe. I bet your the type of guy who will drive around for 10 hours on a 3 hour road trip because your lost and don't want to ask for directions. lol. :D Whenever I do that I drive my fiance crazy! I try to be more reasonable nowadays and make it a point to ask if I do not know. ;)

Because I enjoy annoying you! :D

You want constructive? How about this one: Did you know that the flip-clip gizmo that is on the top of the spare tire cover is designed to clip onto the back lip of the trunk housing and hold the spare tire cover up while you gain access.

BTW, I don't see you posting too many suggestions in this thread, Rocket. The one you posted was posted earlier and recently, so no points for that one.

Well gnats irritate me too but I just swat them.

I posted this thread because I wanted suggestions and the other post in that thread gave me the idea to post this thread. Afterall I didn't want to hijack their thread or anything (hint, hint). For being as old as you are I would have thought that you would have learned by now that sometimes it is ok to sit back and stop flapping your gums for a minute. You better save that energy old fella, don't want ya to fall down and break a hip. j/k ***poke, poke*** hehehe. :p

The Owner's Manual for the '01 should be substatially similar to the '00's. There are, apparently, a few differences, but there are a lot of things that have remained consistent. (I've heard that the fuse block diagrams are different in the '00 and '01 Owner's Manuals, but I've neither year, and haven't looked myself.)

There's always Lincoln's Owners site; it has the PDFs of manuals as well.

Todd, I think the real issue is very few people can read a book anymore, and you need an extremely long extension cord to take the PC with you!!!!

If you press the set button for the seat then press a button on the remote entry then press 1(if thats your seat setting) every time you push that button your seat, mirrors, and tilt will go to that setting

for example I pressed set, then the unlock key on the remote entry , then the number 1. now every time I unlock the car it goes to my seat, mirrors, and tilt settings

its cool
You can do this with each remote so if your wife or GF opens with their remote it will adjust everything to their #2 settings.

Now that is one cool feature. You can even reset your position!

Should I ask how you know about the software update??? :p :p

question.....

I have a 2000 LS and when I bought it from the local dealer they gave me an 01' OM. Are there any big changes in these that neone knows of? should I try to track down an 00' or is the 01' good enough? It seems there is a shortage of these 00' manuals...as says the dealer.....yeah right...:D
