Some wanted to see the F100 I'm working on. It's a 68, stepside. Putting in a +04 Crown Vic IFS, FN10/MN12 IRS, DOHC and TR3650. Looking at a staggered set of 18" anthricite Bullitts for wheels.

As I bought it almost 10 years ago, drove it home from Little Rock...

Complete with a 350 Rocket and trans under the hood.

First thing was tear it apart..

Put a MN12 IRS out back.

Tacked in an Aerostar IFS, which I hate.

The boys and I worked on it this fall and unbolted the cab from the frame and brought it into the garage to work on.

Need to replace the floor pans and front mounts and figure out the roof.

I had repaired the floors prior, but now I want proper pans.

I'm picking up another roof for it so I spent sometime prepping the cab by removing the entire roof. Now I need to drill out all the spotwelds along the back of the cab where the roof met the rear cab wall. I can't redo the spots as the interior sheetmetal is in place. So I'm just going to lap the skin at the front of the cab and weld along the seam that was originally spotwelded.

Roof that cost me more in fuel to get it, then I paid for it....

Cleaned the loose surface rust off the cab and new roof skin and painted with rust converter paint. Got the skin pulled from the scrap cab.

12" dual piston brakes looks so small on a 18.

IFS looks good, needs new inner tie rods and a good cleaning. But it's P71 (Po-leece) set up, and has the preferred aluminum lower control arms.

Welds ground.

Filled the original gas opening. No more cab mounted tank, going under the bed with a 70 Mustang tank converted to EFI.

Thanks!

Yeah, the CV IFS is a beast of a suspension. It's also a darn near bolt in for the truck too. Drill the frame for the bolts, fab up mounts for the LCA's, drill some holes for the sway bar and it's pretty much done other then boxing the frame for support. Plus as an added bonus it's already setup to bolt in a modular engine. :)

Since you'll be using the crown vic front IFS and it will have discs in the rear.... are you going to use a crown vic booster/master cyl, or are you going to convert to hydraboost from a stang?

Hydroboost unit from a Astro van seems to be a popular unit swapped into the F100's, I do want to get away from the mongo '75 booster. I do have a spare 04 Cobra MC here.

+03 Crown Vic IFS measurements

Track width with stock wheels: 63.5"

Hub to Hub distance : 67.5"

Overall width stock tires : 71.25"

MN12 IRS

Hub to hub : 63.25"

So it's ~4.25" narrower hub to hub.

not tires, lower offset wheels.
which he can easily accomplish with the staggered wheels he is planning.

Nice work Bob. Kudos to you for tackling a project like that. Lots of hours and hard work there. Can't wait to see it finished.

That's a pretty trick project.

There is a guy in Chicago I sold the engine to. I forget which year his truck was, but it looks similar to yours, maybe a bit newer.
He's using the crown vic IFS as well (had it installed before for a 5.0), and the engine dropped right in.

Actually, that's the same body as mine, and I think a 67 going by the grill, which could have been changed.

Sure looks at home in there!

Patience grasshopper.

I took three years to cut in t tops, shave the engine bay and completely paint, install a complete 03 Cobra suspension and IRS in my SVO... ;)

The F100 should move along a bit quicker tho. lol

I think Id love to build an old F series this way myself. Looks like it pretty much falls into place. But Id like to do a shortbed instead of a stepside. What do they call those.... styleside?
