F100

I love what you are doing there buddy. It's my dream to one day fulfill a project like yours. I'd love to restore either an F-100 like yours, a Firebird 400, a 69 Camaro SS or a 69 Mustang Fastback. All which are hard to find down here in South Florida. I'd have to travel a bit to find a good decent body & god knows the years it would take for me to complete the project.

Chilly night tonight but got some done.

Raised trans tunnel/inspection plate.

I used to have a '69 F100 2WD that had a Merc 390 swapped into it. Completely rust free and that 390 made it fun to beat on. Bent the frame jumping it Dukes of Hazard style then wound up getting a '68 Step Side 4x4 with a 352 in it for free cause it was rusted to death. Did a cab swap but before I tightened the home made 3" body lift the cab shifted driving out of the garage. Sat for a few weeks until a friend begged me to let him have it.

I did and then it wound up in a scrap yard cause he couldn't afford the $25 a month they wanted for him to store it. This was back late 80's but I wish I had kept it now :(

Wow, this is a great thread especially since I have a 73 F100 that I'm getting started with the same swap. Just trying to find the bits and pieces to get started...I don't have any bodywork to do. Good thing seeing as how i could never do it myself.

Thing looks like it's gonna be sick! I always wanted s shortbed 68-72. Brother used to have one with a 390 that put all the other trucks to shame. As of now, 71 lwb, with the 300 6, swapping in a 91 12v cummins hopefully.

Thanks all. It's coming along pretty good. Not a lot of money in the budget, so things will go as they go.

It's a truck. A 60's truck at that. It's already heavy. No... I'm making it Ohio safe... Especially after putting all that new metal in.

Stripped the IRS down, started scraping and sanding the frame. Cut the rear most crossmember rivets and moved/drilled to end of rails. Also flipped it for bed clearance. This makes room for a rear mounted tank.

Boxed in my ugly original mounts...

Got the pass side all cleaned up and painted. Swapped in my other spindle with redrilled hubs. Tossed a 13" Cobra rotor on for fun. (I did measure up an relocation bracket for the caliper, in case I want to run monster brakes.)

I love having air still in the town car, I’ll go to Home Depot and load up 600lbs of cinder block, auto level kicks in and I drive away with one of these :D.

BOB nice work but as a fellow metal worker please do your wife a favor and get a grinding shield . cheap and saves on metal in the face. keep up the work and post the photos. JD

Good idea. That's my boy there. I did at least make him put on safety glasses and muffs. There's gloves there too, but some reason he didn't wear them. I'm attempting to teach the boys good safety habits. Been there, done that with the metal in the eye trick.
