Fab'ed heat shield for Cold Air Intake for KKM

What did you fab the heat shield from?

i fabbed the heat shield out of light guage galvanized sheet metal....scrap from some commercial HVAC duct. the foam trim is used for keeping the door sealed on commercial HVAC cabinets....it is made of viton. when i replace my intake tube, i'm gonna redo the heat shield with very light guage mirrored stainless steel for durability and looks.

Whats the measures for that heat sheild, and what filter is that your running? It has much more surface area than the KKM's it seems.

So is any way a could get someone to make one of these for me? I don't have the equipment to make one

hey im new here and to the lincoln ls . i just got a 2005 lincoln ls v8 2 days ago and so far its been great. has alot of power and id like to get a little more out of it . so as soon as i get my paycheck im going to do this idea. any cons on it so far or has it been great

I made an enclosed box similar to these and have no complaints. I don't believe it makes a big difference in the cold winter months but it is noticeable in the summer in stop and go traffic.

Overall I recommend this mod but make sure the tube going from the enclosure to the bottom of the bumper is as big as the rest of the intake tube (3"+)...

i was told not to do this for id get water in the intake tube leading to the box. but i think it would be impossible for water to get up the tube and sucked into the intake. any input on this one?

I've had this of rlong time in seattle, where rain is no stranger. after hours of driving in the rain, I've checked under the hood and no trace of water.
Im in miami, now and it can rain cats and dogs here. I have never seen that much rain in that short of time, still no trace of water under the hood.
so for me, it's looking great.

Just got my KKM today and am very satisfied throttle response. I plan to fab an aluminum shield before the hot weather arrives, does anyone recommend a supplier for foam or rubber trim?
