Gen1 clear corners

Alex, I nominate you as the LVC member of the year.

This is sweet. I would love to be able to mold things. Not just for car. But PC parts and other miscellaneous things.

Once again big props. I wish I had space in my garage for projects like these....someday...

Still looking good. I think the level of tint looks good on the side markers and gen2 pieces.

Hey Alex in case you didn't hear yet, you are the man!

Cool

:D This was 4 tooth picks, I think going by 2's will change the tint in a small noticeable amount. Price isn't set yet either, will probably set it and start shipping in a few weeks.

Sweet.
Ok cool. I would just like something right in the middle of the range you have set out already. I guess the next to last would be ok, but I'd like to see a mock setup to see the contrast. Would that be possible Alax?

You can replicate basically anything. They have all kinds of resins for a wide variety of applications. You dont need all this equipment to do solid color parts, just for clear parts. Like I just told rod, solid color parts are so much easier to do because you can just sand down the imperfections or paint them, not the case with clear parts.

Sounds good then!

Thank you sir

Man great job, these look like there coming out on point.

After looking at these it got me wondering if it was possible to make a mold of the rear taillights. It would be cool to have the second gen taillights with the clear top for first gens....But then again how would you be able to seal the lens to the backing?

I dont know how they do 2 toned lights but I can't just cast 2 toned lenses, the liquid will just mix and its going to be hard to get a level cut off line in the center if I cast the bottom red first, let it dry and then cast the top in clear.

There is probably a cheaper and easier way of doing it, but It can be done the way I'm doing this stuff. I would need to cut a set of tails apart, make a mold for the lense and a mold for the back housing. I cant just make the lense and send that out because if I give you my cut lense, when you cut your lense off, my lense wont be exaclty the same cuts to fit the cuts in the housing.

So since I will cut a tail apart, both of my pieces will fit back together, so if i make a mold for the lense and the housing, they should fit together just like the originals. This is what I had to do for the gen1 bumper markers.

To make the top half clear and bottom red, I would just need to use that red nite shade on the back of the lense and tape off the top part.

Damn I literally just opened my headlights up and put a clear (gen 2 headlights) side marker in.. I really like the light tinted ones you have, amazing...

GEN 1 LSE SPOILER GOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sign me up for a set of the barely tinted ones... i have to open up my lights to repair my angel eyes anyway.... i been looking all over for these nice to see members who get successfully creative alax and hite

So can you pull the lens off a taillight, fill the ridges on the inside with a body filler or something and let it dry, then mold a smooth lens for that guy doing his LED tails?

Probably too much work and that would ruin some fine taillights..

Just a thought! lol

Yeah that would work, you just need to make sure the body filler is as smooth and flawless as how you want the final part to look because the silicone captures EVERYTHING, even those little barely even there scratches.

These look great - made in someone's garage and not China is a big plus. Any installed pics?

They are coming. I had to make molds for all of them again, hopefully the final ones.

I made the side markers, side marker backing, and just poured the mold for the headlight reflectors.

Keep up the good work bud. You on spring break yet? Mine is this week so I will be giving the ls some much needed tlc.

alax let me know when you are all set to ship. set of gen1 smoked turn signals and side markers. just pulled my lights apart and am in need of these. not in any rush. still need some new headlights ish.

will do kball.

My spring break starts a week from monday.

good job alax hope it goes good! im with Kball let us all know!

Making good progress on these, had to figure out somethings when casting, I have it all fixed now I think. I think I will be able to ship a few out this week. It takes me about a day to make a set of each, 99% of the time is waiting for things to cure and cool down though, but from start to finish, a day to make one of each part.

Will post pics later tonight.

Scratch that, I was going to work on them for a while right now but there has been a change of plans. Update with pics tomorrow.

Sounds good Alax. I'm interested in a set of clear markers and signals when they're ready.
