Gen1 to Gen2 Pros and cons

I have an 02 LSE and it has 220 HP stock, the Gen I V8 has 252. Thats 32 hp

But he has an 06, thats gen2 = 280hp, thats 60 more than your v6 and 70 more than 200-2001 v6

Also, wannabbels was asking about an 05 v6 so comparing a gen2 v8 to gen2 v8, thats a 48 hp diff, which doesn't hurt to have.
 
I don't see why such fits are thrown over the occassional revived thread. When someone gets near a previously posted thread people yell "use the search" then when they do everyone bitches "zombie thread" and ignores it. New members join daily so there will be new opinions. As long as its not "any CAI out there for the LS" or something... Anywho, my two bits gen 1 - no drive by wire, easier to tune (no vvt) slightly more useable aftermarket (exhaust hp gains) I think better looking, and cheaper. Gen 2 has more hp, more refinement inside and handles better.

but when you add CAI, exhaust, and tune there's isn't much difference in performance

It's already been proven that a 1/4 mile for a Gen 1 with those three with same tune as the Gen 2 the Gen 1 will hit it at 14.3secs and the Gen 2 will hit it at 14.2secs

so adding the same mods to both...the Gen 1 is surely the winner!

plus the gen 1 has the available supercharger kit from LLSC
 
GenII's come standard with David Hasslehoff airbags

definitely worth it, so when you die in a crash, the police will show up to you getting hugged by the Hoff... EXCELLENT!

well if you where paying attention, you would have noticed he's not looking at a 1st gen, he's looking at an 05(2nd gen w/ vvt)
2nd gen v8 = 280hp
2nd gen V6 = 232
280-232=48 thank you, come again

and actually its 60more hp than your 02 lse, so you dont think that 27% more power is a big difference

and unless you have owned and driven both for a while, i would expect you to understand the the V8 is already underpowered for a car this heavy, and a V6 only adds insult to injury.
plus the gen 1 has the available supercharger kit from LLSC

and ILLS put a turbo on his 2nd G, but whats that got to do with the price of beans.

my lord, settle down guys... even IF the GENII V8 has more horsepower it's still just a mid-high 14 second car (on a good day)

my ET and trap from my bone stock GENII is one of the better runs I have heard of from a completely stock V8 LS... and that was only 14.7 @ 98MPH

and that was the best run of the day... other runs hovered at around 14.9-15.2 @ 95-97MPH...

so I mean... horsepower is kind of irrelevant when you are talking about the LS lol

I still think the hasslehoff airbags would be pretty sweet though, not gonna lie

as stated, same mods puts them at 14.2sec (gen 2) and 14.3sec (gen 1)

show me a 14.2 second 2nd gen V6, without boost or a bottle

the V6 is fine, if you want a muscle car go buy one. If you want more hp then add more hp or buy another car.

if you want luxury and hp then you should go for a 300 SRT-8

the point of a smaller engine is to get better gas millage than the bigger engine option.

i dont think that a 1-2 MPG difference justifies the smaller option
 
the V6 is fine

most people dont call something they like FINE, most people call something they like good or even great. you tell your wife that "everything is fine" after she pissed you off with her bullsh!t and you just want her to shut up.

if fine is good enough for you, then sweet, enjoy it dude!

i'm just saying, i bought a V6 once, and regretted it until the day that it was gone, i'm much happier now.

what happened to the LS?

and I will take a new V6 by ford over a new V8, they are pushing 365 hp with the V6 these days
 
yea big difference with an ecoboost TT

however i would take the 5.0 over a ecoboost V6

then you go back to the miles per gallon
and the V6 doesn't get miles per gallon

believe it or not, you need to burn more gas to make more power.

if i had a problem paying for gas, i would have bought a fusion hybrid.
 
the V6 mustang has 300 hp and 31 miles to the gallon

the V8 mustang GT had 300hp just a couple years back
