Just wreckt the LS...

I bookmarked one that had the left for 400 and the right for 1100, weird, but now they are both 1100

Check out www.certifit.com you can get a new hood for $285.50. They have warehouses all over the states. They have a warehouse in Oklahoma City (don't know if that's close to you or not) and ship locally to body shops.

Sweet thanks man, I am gunna call them after I have the money...

I notice it says they only ship to bodyshops... I wonder if they will let me go there and pick up my hood myself lol

Cool. using the good ol sledge hammer. Your radiator just cut in half. nice.

My radiator cut in half? what!? lol

oh.woops. I just checked my car, I thought it got cut in half. In your picture it looked like half of it wasn't bent and the other flew back with the cross brace.

After accident:

Here is some afters, as you can see the brace is now straightened out perfectly :]

This is a closeup of the weak point in the brace now, this is the buckle point where it was first bent up and in. Then we bent it back out to original position so the spot is definitely the weak spot... But it is still strong from what I can tell... WHatever works lol!

can you say "Lincoln".

go back to the dreaded common sense post, the more expensive a car is when it is new, the more it will cost to repair.

Not always true. The Lincoln Navigator and Ford Explorer use the same front fenders (not sure if they do now) so they are the same price. The same goes for any other car comapny that has 2 seperate brands with similar models.

They will let you pick it up, well at least the warehouse in Chicago does.....

Sorry if this is a stupid question but wouldn't properly fixing the brace be included in your claim? I mean if you didn't pull it out and you take it to any reputable shop they would properly fix it correct? I can understand you doing it for the time being but as you said that buckle is going to be a weak point so why wouldn't you want it properly welded? No matter how hard you push on that brace it won't replicate the force of an accident.

Brands that do interchange would be an exception, the LS is a stand alone vehicle with no common sheet metal with any other vehicle.

Yes but I am avoiding taking it to a shop as all of my estimates to fix the car would total the vehicle... I do not want it totaled so I am turning in an estimate that doesn't total the car and fixing it myself.

The brace probably would have been cut and then welded back by a shop. I am sure the weld would be stronger, but the fractures in the brace were already existing before we bent it back, so they would either place weld an entirely new brace which would mean more money, or they would have just had a weak spot such as mine from a cut and re-weld.

I do not plan to sell the vehicle so it is not a concern of mine about the integrity of that brace, I feel as if it is strong enough to still withstand a front impact as before.

That brace is a full block steel construction, it is a beast in these cars.

it will be aiiggghhht, lol just dont hit nothing again!:D

i know this is old, but heres what you do in that situation..... gun the mother fu<ker down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can just weld yourself or find a buddy who has a welding machine and let loose. Its not that hard,

Yeah just dump some gorrila glue in that little dip and you're good to go :D

Just ordered some new things for the LS:

-Found an OEM HID headlight - won on eBay for just over $200. (take that shady bodyshops and your $1600 charges can F off!)
-Chrome-amber signal bulbs for the rear
-NOKYA Cosmic White Bulbs for the new LSE fog lights and highbeams that will pair up with the existing HIDs
-Umnitza LED Angel Eyes
-And bought myself a nice dremel since I have been needing one and am sick of borrowing my father's. This will come in handy with the headlights too :]

The insurance claim and estimates have been submitted and all I am doing is waiting on a check before I can order the bumper/grill/hood.

I put cosmic white bulbs in my fogs too and noticed that the reflectr lense became "foggy". Maybe it was that a tried cleaing it when I painted then a few eeks ago or maybe the bulbs damaged them. Those bulbs are 10 watts higher than the stock ones and they give off a lot more heat. Got the fog lense hot enough for me not to be able to touch it for more than 2 seconds. Just saying to keep an eye out so yo dont damage anything. It could also be that I damaged them myself but just throwing it out there.Oh and for your next set of bulbs when those nokya burn out try the hoens ones, I heard they were good. They are for BMW but it all works.

Nice list of goodies!

Dang !!! its been a while since I dont log in !! Actually I just bumped the thread of the engine bay heat experment, and now I found this... I know how :q:q:q:qed up it feels.. http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=38634

About cheap body parts, be careful, the oem hood is aluminum and all after market fenders and hoods Ive seen r cheaper but not aluminum. Try a junk yard.

About 2nd gen LSE front bumper, I want 1 too, maybe if we match up we could get a discount.

Is the radiator broken ? Im about to buy an aluminum one to fit it in, maybe if we buy 2 we get a discount too. Just need the right size and some custom brackets thats all.

The radiator is fine. It's all cosmetic.

I am just ordering the bumper kit off lsk. Then I am picking the hood up at that local warehouse for the 285 or whatever.

Lsk has those constant five percent off too so the bumper is like thirty bucks less or something

You really think you are the smartess guy in the room. ....... Its because of use parts resources. Most LSes are frontend total. Which leaves very few used savage parts out there. So the new parts market prices go up. Simple supply and demand thoery. Did you know the driveside front headlight is about $100 more then the passengerside headlight. Reason is, the driverside is most likely to be the side wrecked.
