LaserSVT 98 White Pearlescent Progress Thread

Todays progress was minor stuff. Swapped in a lower temp thermostat and put coolant in as I was just running water before. Looks like I have a 6-10* drop in coolant temps.

Also finally got my trans tune done. I was loosing apx .4 seconds of acceleration time between shifts because I had them a little too high. Now the car does not loose any acceleration rate through the first 3 gears. :D
Also by the data log I can see that even though the tires dont make an audible bark they are actually breaking loose going into 2nd and 3rd. :wrench

Went and had the crappy Magnaflow x-pipe off and had a standard one welded in its place. What a freaking difference! No more obnoxious drone, car is quiet when cruising around and I am very happy with the tone. Only went with one x-pipe and dont see any reason for a second one.

Must have had a breeze in the shop blowing some of his gas away...pin holes all in the welds :-( I need to get another mig soon so I can do this stuff...i really wish I had the
money for my own shop, anyone willing to help invest in a building gets free labor :)

those welds arent bad whats wrong with it? i have seen some real classy pictures of exhaust on here in the past, that looks mint compared to some of the stuff that has come through here!!! thats a pretty decent job for 25 bucks. 25 bucks barely gets you a good meal at long horn!

Why am I not suprised.

Alt was my first call due to the fact its 3 months old and an Autozone part. So as I was listening to it I realized the sound is coming from down low and near the ac comp but its not the AC. Only bearing down there is the tensioner pulley.

I was wrong on that one too. The noise was belt slippage. A new Gatorback belt fixed her righr up! :) No progress so to speak I guess though. Just been washing and enjoying the car as of late. Been running great, beatin GTs and Cobras and gettin attention.

Took it to a hamburger joint last weekend that had some killer cars there. Members of the SVT Association invited me to a lunch tomorrow to show the Mark to the other SVT members. I will be sure to get lots of pics since there will be a crap load of sweet SVT cars there. :)

Been a while since I did anything to the car but reading another thread tonight gave me an idea for a semi-CAI setup. With the blower my IATs are always a worry and I wanted to fab up some heat shield. I have no fab skills though.
So I hacked up my old air box and made a cover for my cone filter. Still need to clean it up some but I kinda like it.

I am gonna find some rubber mating that I can cut to shape and epoxy to the back to close it all off and still be able to wiggle everything out.

You should buy the 03-04 Cobra intake tube, and mate it to a complete airbox with 90maf in there.
I had a picture of one of my cars on here somewhere, it fit like a glove.
The 96-98 fits like crap in the m8 engine bay, as it hits the shock tower and a/c lines.

That's what I've got coming to go with my Cobra Intake...

I may look into that in the future. For now I am leaving it in cause while driving I see a 12* drop and when sitting in traffic I see a 25*+ drop in my IATs. Every little bit helps.

Yay! Fixed several issues for a dollar! Sapperfire scored me some nice parts from the JY for $1. Got some real LSC mats that I just cleaned up, new working fuse panel door and the end cap by the passenger air bag. Mine had a chip in it that always bugged me.

Now gotta find ya a seat panel and some bolt covers, and remember to get the seatbelt bolt cover from the yard

Yay! More goodies!

Sapperfire scored me a flawless controll pannel for the fuel/trip computer. Mine had some knicks in it and pissed me off. Also finally got a seat belt anchor cover! Sometimes its teh simple things. :D

Also decided to swap in my new spindles. Had a slightly worn wheel bearing and SVO loaded up a pair of my old ones with new Timken bearings and cleaned them up. They been sitting on my shelf for several months now though.

God I love the look of nice shiny parts. Next spring I may end up tearing my entire underside apart. Jeremi got a real good head start for me this past summer on the front. You'd sh!t a brick if you saw the "before" pics. The man is a miracle worker.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack, you just got me dreaming again.

EDIT: Added one more. Yes I know that sensor bracket looks terrible. That's basically the condition the rest of the front was in.

Nice job man, that last pic, you'd think it was a new car. I hope it handles better with all the new hardware.
