LaserSVT 98 White Pearlescent Progress Thread

I havent replaced the PS pump yet, not high n the list. It wrs and is quiet and does not surge so I will just leave it alone for now. They are cheap and its easy to get one at any parts place. Thanks for the offer though. :)

just curious wut size are the front rotors your running, cant you just buy rotors with our bolt pattern from somewhere in that size

You can get drilled and slotted from BrakeMotive...he didn't want drilled anymore because he cracks them...
We-o we-o we-o we-o

Replaced my cracked to crap drilled rotors and worn OEM pads with new slotted rotors and some EBC Red Stuff pads today. I have to break in the pads still but just normal stopping is DRASTICALLY changed!

Could be just me but it looks like the caliper is just under sized compared to the rotor size. looking at the wear mark on the drilled/slotted rotor you still had atleast 1 to 1.5 inches of rotor thats not even being touched.
looked like that to me anyway.
Still looks better then mine thought! :(

thats how marks with cobra calipers and rotors are, everyone ive seen is like that

how much of the pads are actually making contact with the rotor? looks like they are sitting much higher on the rotors lip then should be? if this is the case what is the benifit if your not making 100% contact with all of the pad is it still effective?
Does anyone have a pic of the WORN front disc pads? does the Rotor cut into the pad like 3/4ths of the way ?

The pads are fully on the rotor, that's just the way the PBR calipers are on 13" rotors. Looks and works the same on Cobra's also. If you look closely at his first pic, you can see about a 1/16" ridge at the outer edge of the rotor where the pads stop.

Is there a set of Calipers that would allow for a larger brake pad surface and still be more powerfull then the stock calipers? Maybe Crownvic pads/rotors? I dont know I'm just thinking of a beafier version like maybe used on the Police intercepter.

Huh. One day I wanted to upgrade to those calipers. So you say they work on the same rotors and mounts? Thats killer. Do you have a source that you would share that sells them for under $1000? Thats the cheapest I ever saw them.

Also does your car see track duty? I ask because all I have heard are rumors about those calipers having seal issues on the track and that the seals are not available by them selves. Also LMR said their 2000R wrecked because of a caliper failure.
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

They bolt right on, the issue is wheel clearance, very few wheels will clear the Brembo's.

I've managed to find 3 new sets over the years for ~ $750, you just have to be patient.

I've had my Cobra on the track, no issues.

Seal kits are available, I just rebuilt and repainted the set on my LSC, they were originally on my SC.

You're worried about the square cut seal...as I recall, you have a best friend that works at a Brake Specialty shop...I bet that idiot has hundreds of seals

Meh, something that will happen way way way down the road.

So my X-pipes showed up which means latter this week I can get rid of the exhaust fumes and obnoxious sound I am currently dealing with.

I've got the same double X setup and I HATE the sound and drone. I want to get rid of it all (except the kooks) and start over. Let me know what you think of the sound.

What kind of mufflers do you have? I just couldnt see spending another $100 for the Magnaflo X-pipe resonator since mine only lasted a couple months and I have only heard people say how often they wear out.

BTW, I still have my cats.

i wouldnt do both, but thats just me, i have the kooks into magnaflow high flow cats, only 2 cats, the short round fat ones, into a bassani X then into stainless magnaflow mufflers i have no drone in my car, but outside the car its loud when i get on it, at idle it actually is decieving because when i stab the throttle its retarded loud, i still have no good videos of it i need to post one. i dont believe in double x's i think its overkill.
this is the only video i have of how my 97 sounds from inside another car.

YouTube- 97 lsc gettin on it

I told him to just get 1,...how's that sayin go???

Nobody listens to Turtle !

Try this dude, have Graves install just 1, then if you don't like it..install the 2nd later..
If you install both, you'll have to cut one out to try a change...then if you like the single x over double, then you're selling a USED x pipe...
So , since you're always in the spirit of never taking MY advice...
Install BOTH

Jamie, your car sounds sick but I dont have headers or high flo cats or the same style of mufflers as you. I dont want the car to be loud like Sappers as well.

I thought the purpose of the dual x-pipes was to quiet the system down versus a single x-pipe setup.

And I am not going to graves, gonna have a local shop do it.

Kooks headers -> aftermarket cats -> double X -> LMS mufflers. All 2.5" mandrell bent SS. I think it is the mufflers or the double X that are the problem I don't know I'm (and my chick) just so sick of the drone and bad sound quality.

Mine isn't really all that loud inside the car , of course with windows up and 12s pumpin.
