LaserSVT 98 White Pearlescent Progress Thread

I swapped out the crank sensor today and that seems to have fixed my intermitant no start issue..... I hope.

Noticed I also neglected to put the nut on a support bracket for the wire harness and also didnt put in a support bolt for one of the power steering lines. So I corrected that and went over the whole car to make sure no other ones were missed.
Looks all good to me.

Argh, what a day. Took her out and everywhere I went I got compliments which was surprising. People don't usually come up and say "Man that thing sounds good!" or "Never seen one done up like that. Thats real cool." Nobody seemed to believe its a 98 as well.
Well the car got a big head with all the compliments and shortly after it decided it didn't want to start at the gas pump. The battery was dead. I had a trunk full of groceries and lots of frozen crap and its 108* out and I'm stuck. Fortunately a dude that pulled in gave me a jump. He even said the car looked brand new and wondered why a new car would need a jump.
Really not sure what happened. I was stuck at a drive through for 13 minutes and then was stopped at every light before I pulled it in the gas station. Guess the ALT got way too hot and stopped charging at idle. On the whole way home the ALT charged at 13.7 until I stopped and it dropped to 13.2 and that was with the AC on max and the cooling fan running in high speed mode. Battery shows 12.7 volts when the car is off and holds it just fine too.
I then remembered that I broke the ground wire when pulling the motor so there was only a 4awg wire going from the block to the battery and then one tiny 12awg wire going from the battery to the chassis. Surprised that didn't burn up with the draw of everything. So I ran a new 4awg from the chassis to the block and another 4awg wire from the body to the chassis. I used to have a .6 volt drop between the alt and the chassis, now I have a .01v drop. :) So I hope that cures the electrical gremlin from today.

I also dropped my slotted rotors off at the machine shop to be re drilled for my bolt pattern and just ordered some EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads.

Yay! Something to keep me busy for a few minutes! :wrench

Front sway bar lock collars. My front sway bar was always sliding over to the drivers side and hitting the dust shield and the passenger sides link would get pulled in to the strut.
Called up Addco and they sent me a set for free. :D

Its not like I missed breakfast by 10 min at wackarnolds, only that makes me go ape :q:q:q:q. I hate have to ask for something twice that I should have been given when I bought the bars---Ya Know What I Am Saying.

Oh I'm just being funny..I figured with 300 million :q:q:q:q:q:q:qs...I wanna see some snuff films

I'm for world genocide :)

I feel ya but the headlines would be lame. People would be like "He went on a killing spree over not getting his sway bar collars in the mail." Then they would be trying to figure out what the hell a sway bar collar was, instead of focusing on my awesome killing spree. I would much rather have a good reason, like a woman.:D

Replaced my cracked to crap drilled rotors and worn OEM pads with new slotted rotors and some EBC Red Stuff pads today. I have to break in the pads still but just normal stopping is DRASTICALLY changed!

Good choice on just slotted rotors... the drilled and slotted combination seem to crack ALL the time. I plan to do Poweslots and Hawk pads on my GT once I get some projects finished... looks good..

Hey did you ever get a power steering pump, Bill?

I found mine, but I'm in Norwalk, Ohio watching Pinks All Out... wont be back til tomorrow to look at it

I'm gonna take you up on that trade offer so mine can get decent repairs and washed more often
