bill the same :q:q:q:qing thing happend to me yesterday when i went to remove the ac compressor out of my wifes mark. i got a socket on the bolt from under the car, but the head rounded off, i got so pissed i grabbed my drill and a 3/4 inch drill bit and drilled a hole directly under it in line with the bolt head, right through the k member!! hammered on a 3/8 12 point and walla!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! drill k member ftw
 
I do have a bad PS pump. After we were dropping the motor in I noticed some shaft play on the pump. If I had the cash for a new one then I would have swapped it. Right now I am so poor I cant even pay attention! :lol:

I saw they cost about $55 at Advance. How much is Sapperfire's discount?

Not sure, havent asked. I can swap it next month though.

So I took her out for the maiden drive and it was pretty much perfect. Idled excellent, no overheating, lots of power. So I am a happy camper. :D
 
see you shouldnt have told me to take the power steering pump off the motor ya dink. you know i used to get sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much grief for doing what i do to mark's, parting them out, look what me parting out that car did for you, stories like these right here. oh but how can you part out such a good looking car blah blah blah, because now bill is up and running again! thats how!

I'll get a few quotes for the PS pump tomorrow, and bring the car by my shop about noon, or just call me, Git Er Done!
 
Advance has it for $50.39 my cost , lists for $174.90 with a $30 core
 
No I work at Just Brakes, so I get the commercial discount on pretty much everything from everywhere, except AutoZone we don't even bother having an account with them because their stuff sucks so bad
 
I've got a power steering pump. I'll check it when I get home to see if it has shaft play. If not. I'll send it to ya Bill.
 
i usually dont have a problem with az..But if what i need is only acouple more bucks i'll get it at pep boys.
 
pep boys is worse than autozone! unless you need neon undercarriage lights and chrome wiper blades!

we don't even consider pepboys a real auto parts store, way over priced china junk, you might as well get car parts at walmart
 
LOL I used to work for Pep Boys like 4 years ago... Good parts behind the counter at the time, but pure crap out on the shelves... Like they tried to be the "wal mart" of auto parts stores
 
I have a pepboys, auto zone, and an advance near me as well as an R&S Strauss. I hate them all. Not so much for there parts, they never have what I need. I end up going to multiple stores to buy parts for one job, even then I usually don't get all I need. I go with rockauto.com whenever possible.
 
So nuttin too new.

Sapperfire gave me a half can of R134a and I found a 14oz can in my storage so I took some quarters and bought another can so I would have 2 lbs total. Filled the system without putting a vac on it but it seems to blow ice cold so meh.

Still have to fix the steering sensor so the pumps not running full assist all the time and I will go fugg with that now.

I think my x-pipe resonator is blown out cause the car sounds like it has glass packs between 3000 and 4000 RPM when under load. Its loud and sounds cool but for regular driving its kinda annoying.

Then the shipping company just hit me for another $88 because the crate was 120lbs more then we had thought for the motor. :( Since the account was empty the bank hit me for another $35 overdraft on top of that. Wonderfull.
 
Bill, you have to watch the a/c system. With the temps you had while the system was open there is most likely moisture in the system or non condensables. The introduction of moisture in the system will create an acid situation in time and take out either the compressor or the entire system. The desicant in the filter dryers is going to be killed as well. When you get the cash and you can do it hopefully soon, get the system evacuated and vacumed and recharged with fresh 134A. Get it done sooner than later if you can.
 
Will do. My buddy has one of them recycling machines that can pull the R134 out and also dry it and then put a vac on the system and reuse the stuff I just put in. Just have to be able to afford to drive out there.

I was just under the car tightening down the exhaust some more and with the car up at an angle I noticed fuel spilling out my tank. Turns out someone forgot to put a hose clamp back on and the breather was leaking at the T fitting. Should be all good now.

I keep forgetting to look at that power steering pump. Should have a bit of time tonight before I cut up a wrecked 'stang into tiny pieces, lol
 
Todays progress was just some odds and ends.


Saw a slight trans leak and thought it was the front seal. It wasnt, it was the dipstick tube. I just put some gasket maker around the joint to stop that. I will replace the o-ring next time I drop the trans.

Also hunted down an exhaust leak. Turns out a weld blew out on a flange and has a pin hole in it so I will go back to the muffler shop and have them fix that.

Noticed the reason I couldnt get to the AC bolt so I can swap out my Crank Angle Sensor was because as DLF said, my sway bar slides around. Just got off the phone with Addco and they are sending me out some collars tomorrow.

After that I changed the shift points a little and will go test them out here in a few. :)

Where exactly is that joint? Im thinking its the same spot leaking on mine.
