Yeah Bill, heat stroke. Good idea on the shower to get your core temp down. Drink lots of water and even get a Gatorade in you to for the electrolytes.

Take it easy out there boys. Sapperfire, you are one good freind to be doing this in the heat.

We did as much as we could, taking the heat into consideration and having to take extended breaks, unfortunatly made this job a bit longer than the normal 2 hour R/R ---LOL

in any case, he's my friend and needed the help, there's almost no way 1 person can get it done without lots of experience, especially when you factor in weather and other stuff.

I've got plenty to say about the install, but not the energy to type it.....

HOLY CHIT!! I cant believe the hoist didnt tilt with the car on it!!! I know they can do like 2 tons or whatever but that is nuts!

I had to save that picture to my computer lol

Actually the lift in front of the car kinda was a PITA, once the load was on the lift it rolled under the car more as it balanced itself, there for a few seconds it was at a tilt..

I wanted to work on it today but slept too late and its been too hot out. Every part of my body hurts. Plus I cant seem to drink enough water so I guess I was pretty dehydrated. Ill get it going this weekend though.

So there's PROOF!!! 2 guys CAN change a motor, in a carport, with NO air-compressor..and this one will have a Blower installed..no more excuses fookers...

Get busy!!!

Oh yeah! I forgot about our biggest (well my biggest) follie of the day.
Fired up the compressor and it went to 100psi but wouldnt fill any more and started to get very hot. I shut it down and found a seal had cracked. Well in my infinate wisdom I put a wrench on this 1" cap bolt and tightened it. It was still leaking so I backed up not even a quarter turn to re-seat and the 100psi in the tank SHOT the cap off the tank. I am very lucky as my face was just in front of it. Also I am lucky the cap was facing out into the yard cause it would have really hurt Jeremy or my car.
We never did find the cap so all the work was done with hand tools. Ever try removing a crank pulley bolt without one? How about k-member bolts with no impact? Yeah, we had our work cut out for us.

Anyway, there are times I hate my car for being broke. And then I nit pick the flaws in its body and paint. There are times I think of selling it and starting over.
Well after yesterday that has changed for me. Other then the rear subframe there is not a part on this car I have not R&R'd. I have busted ass on her and, well, have become very attached to the car! She will never be sold, have to kill me first.

I did mine by myself....
One of my friends from work was supposed to help me one day, but we ended up working on his girlfriend's car the whole day.

I had no previous experience with anything of this caliber. I've pulled the transmission 3 different times, but never an engine before. It's really actually very easy when you think about it. It's a pretty daunting task not having done anything like it before, but now that I've done it, it's really not as hard as it seemed it would be. I had a lift to use, which I'm sure helped, but still not too bad...

i dropped dereks motor and put it back in, then took it out again and put it back in, mostly by myself, derek and jake helped a little on each motor, but this was all in the span of only 2 weekends!! r&r once isnt bad, its twice that blows.

I've done many motor swaps, this was my first bottom dropper tho...lifting the car over the motor was a lil odd, but it's deffinalty the easiest way..
With that being said, I'll be buying some steel pipe before I get ready to drop mine...I'm makin either a chainfall hoist or something of the like.
Pretty sure I can design something that can hold the car up, with a chain for the motor in the center...
-runs to drawing board-

I just went out to see if I could work on it but OMFG its so hot out there!

I do now have a problem. I put the thermostat assembly on backwards and the hose clamp can not be reached with pliers. That meens now I have to get a hose clamp tool to move it around. :(

That'll be $90 and they are usually a special order item ( and I say $90, because I bought mine from SnapOn) I no longer have it tho..

Putz!

Just drop the motor

Would not even attempt. Rock driveway on an incline. I have done a conventional engine swap in it, royal p.i.t.a. As far as the Lincoln goes, not a chance.

At least shes back down on her own feet now. Not a whole lot to do but I have done 4 hours today already and its rapidly getting too hot.

Remember to take a video when you fire her up for the first time.

Hey rooster what do you mean a conventional engine swap? Through the top? I thought about doing that and I know everyone says how much more trouble it is. The one reason I was thinking about doing it is because I am installing the engine w/o the exhaust manifolds and and valve covers and w/o all of the stuff on the front of the engine except the pulleys. Plus my radiator and alot of the stuff in the bay is off at the moment! What was you p.i.t.a.?

Bill, trade me those valve covers for the purge tank you want under the trunk. I have them out by the way.
You must be high. Second gen COP valve covers are worth 4 times those evap tanks. I have been asking about the evap cans for two months now and you won't even give me a price. Screw it, ill just watch the junk yards.

Being on an incline and in rocks, the cherry picker does`nt roll at all. You have to lift the engine, roll the car back, then lower engine. Installation is even less fun. Not to mention I`m way past twenty and I don`t have it in me anymore to shove a car around.

It hasn't been high on my priority list, because I knew you were out of commission for a while. I haven't given you a price, because I didn't know what they are worth. Valve covers aren't worth that much, and an even swap would've been fair for two Texas guys.
