LaserSVT 98 White Pearlescent Progress Thread

Just the little pulley on the drivers side. The rest is stock.

Well crap. There is now a heat advisory for the next several days. They say it will be 106-110* every day and only drop to the 80's at night. :( Tomorrow is gonna be teh suck. :(

Well we are off to a start! Got up at 7:00 AM and started swapping the rest of the stuff over. Got her mated to the K-,member and just got the trans mounted and torqued down. We are both hot and tired so time for a short break. :)

Bill, Did you lower your engine mounts as you had said you wanted to do to get the hood to close without shimming the hood? Just curious as to what you are doing with that issue.

Looks beautiful! Did you detail the passenger's side wheel well?? It appears spotless. I thought I kept my car clean. You really have an awesome car. Good luck with the new engine!

Thanks all! Its been a royal PITA!!!

The engine is in the engine bay but not a single thing is hooked up yet. We were just dropping the car down the last couple inches and I started to get real dizzy and then noticed these weird bumps forming all over my skin. Looked like 3rd degree burn bumps like if you drop a cig cherry on you and the next day a little boil kinda thing appears..... well I was covered in them on my hands and arms.
Sapperfire said it was heat stroke and we neded to get inside. I took an ice cold shower and the bumps seem to be dissapearing...... I have never heard of that before and definatly never had it happen to me.
Sooooooo, we are taking a break and will prolly not finnish it today. It was 112* with the heat index, 104* without at 4:00PM Texas time. Its now 5 and we are gonna wait till 6 or 7 and see what its like. I would like to at least have the k-member bolted up and driveshaft in. The rest I can do in the mornings over the next few days.

Ill keep y'all updated! :)

Damn! You need to take it easy man!

Yeah Bill, heat stroke. Good idea on the shower to get your core temp down. Drink lots of water and even get a Gatorade in you to for the electrolytes.

Take it easy out there boys. Sapperfire, you are one good freind to be doing this in the heat.

Well we soldiered on and got the engine mounted and the trans too. Also got the driveshaft, exhaust and gas tank in. Only have to hook up the wires, install the blower, hook up the suspension, get the wipers back on, install the cowl, install the hood, add all fluids, install the trans cooler..................

It will be good to see her up and running again.

Hey lasersvt I like the look of them valve covers! What did you do to them? I cleaned the heck out of mine, then wetsanded and painted them with high temp black spray paint and high temp clearcoat. I did the same with the coil/plug covers but in silver metallic so they are two toned and the silver almost matches the car. They look pretty good but I would like to have some like yours instead!!!

Oh yeah and in one of my threads I was saying that I decided not to use my buddies shop w/ the lift to do my engine. (long story) So I got my everything in order today to get ready to do mine. Brought everything to where I am doing it and had the car towed there. I was cleaning the engine up and the engine bay today while I was trying to come up with a game plan. What is the method to get the car up high enough to get the engine and K-member under it? Also, I wanted to say yours is coming together real well. Looks good!

Duhh I guess I should read the whole thing my bad. I could have swore I read all of it but I guess I skipped that part. I remember reading when he got the car, when he got the blower and lately but I just missed that section. But thanks anyways bro! Thats what I had in mind.

Yup. Engine hoist works great. :)

And thanks for the compliments guys, been a hard road with this bish!

Oh yeah, the covers....... Well they were supposed to be the same color as the blower but I didnt realize VHT made two shades of silver. Then when I was touching up some spots the new can of VHT was bad and sprayed chunks of crap all over my perfect finnish. :( So I gave up and evened the rough texture and then cleared them. So they have a semi textured finnish in VHTs "Aluminum" paint.

Ugh. Car is freakin FILTHY right now. After its back together I will scrub her down perty good. :D
