The only time it would have been eligible is in '03. When the LS came out it was light years ahead of anything else Detroit was producing (muscle cars don't count; the LS was a near-luxury RWDer with a manual option). Previous winners must have significant changes to be considered for subsequent years.

Then that would indicate that the gen 2 is not the light years ahead of the gen 1 as described by some.

Just saying.....

or they realized they f'ed so bad with the Gen 1s that they didn't want to risk making the same mistake again :D
 
They've had it listed that you have to buy it now before it goes to auction in 3 days for like a month now. Lol.

Lol I know. Clearly their marketing scheme isn't working very well. It probably has high mileage, it's too beautiful to not have sold by now or "gone to auction"

My LS has a cling on the driver's side rear window that says 2000 Motor Trend Car of the Year.

Just not doing it for me either. Barcelonas are sexy as hell, but those Porsche wheels are kinda funky. But hey don't m knock it til you've tried it. They may look really good on an LS.
 
Maybe its just because they are similar but I like the porsche wheels. Its like Barcelonas with a lip...

i may have to try them myself, working on it...

MTCOTY doesn't acknowledge the difference between yearly updates, just how important it is to the automotive world. You should read their standards/requirements. Just look at the list. As much as most of us hate the Prius and all it stands for it was still the most significant car of 2004.

No. The G35 was new and the latest fun car and a significant model for Infiniti. The return of the personal coupe (after the T-Bird) was significant that year. Lincoln also dropped the manual.

You should really read up on the decision making process for awarding the COTY. That said, I don't agree with many of their decisions.
