My Review on 1st Gen VS 2nd

I myself owned both a '02 and '05 so i understand your points. Unfortunately these cars get hyped up alot on here. What was once an old mans performance luxury car is now a younger kids "big time" car. People buy a used 2nd gen for a couple grand and all the sudden they are ballers adding rims and lowering. Essentially doing things to a car that was never meant to be done. Somewhat embaressing for a Lincoln. My opinion anyway. The older the LS gets the younger the drivers/buyers are gonna get and think they are big time.

DITTO!!!!!!!!!

Rain sensing wipers were dropped because Lincoln had too many warranty complaints. FAIL to the owners, NOT Lincoln!

I have a 2000 (V6) and two '06s. The '00 is now my daughter's but I still get occasion to drive it. The '00 feels raw where the '06 feels refined. If you have excessive body roll I suggest you check your shocks. I get less lean in the '06 than the '00.

... Cars have had fixed mirrors for generations, why is it important all of the sudden to have your mirror fold.

You'd feel differently if you lived in one of the congested cities with lots of bicycle traffic. Parallel park and then come back to find your driver's mirror hanging from the wiring. It's a big convenience to have them auto fold up and auto fold out if you have to fold them every time you park.
I don't see the point is complaining that a feature shouldn't exist just because you don't have it and don't need it.

Okay, I'll bite.

The trunk thing is a matter of adjustment, not gen I or gen II. My 04 pops open, my 06 has to be pulled open. If I cared about it one way or the other, I could adjust either to work either way.

I love the electronic parking brake, and use it every time. It is easy to set, and releases when it should all on its own. The only thing better would be if it set automatically too. Some other cars do this.

All gen II (and gen I) have heated wiper parks. Gen II doesn't have a light or switch, but they are there and they are fully automatic.

Wait.... I have heated wiper parks? Sh*t chya

Perhaps you might read your owner's manual. It will tell you that as well as tell you about the other stuff that you don't know that you don't know.

My MKS has the rain sensing wipers and that is something i dont get. I see the rain and its not that big a deal to turn the little dial. When it stops i turn the dial again. Somewhat lame feature. Kinda like newer Kia commercials that feature auto folding mirrors. Who's gives a sh!t about a folding mirror? Cars have had fixed mirrors for generations, why is it important all of the sudden to have your mirror fold.

I imagine you'll learn to love it... I keep a heavy coat of rain X on my windshield so I rarely ever need wipers period, but when I do, They automatically kick on... Hardly even notice now... Untill in the Exby and it sucks LOL.. I guess its something you just get use too

so i'm still confused what the difference is between interval and auto?

I'm pretty sure I have auto. I have "auto" written on the lever and i can pick the sensitivity or w.e. you call it. When it rains the speed of the wipers will vary depending on how much rain is falling.

Auto, set it and forget it. If it's working correctly you shouldn't have to set the frequency of wipe. I opted for Rain-X. Anything above 30-40mph or so I don't need wipers. Anything under I choose not to use them unless it's at night.

Interval you choose the setting, auto chooses it for you via a sensor in the windshield. Assuming that's why their are 4 or so different windshields to choose from.

there is the variable settings constant normal and balls out fast, then there is intermittent settings where the wipers will pause for a selectable amount of time between wipes, then there is the auto setting where the wipers will stay off until the sensor "sees" water on the windshield, then it will turn them on all by itself and set them to the speed that they need to be set to, and then shut them off when all of the water is gone.

for instance, i have not changed the settings on my wipers in years except for when i go through the car wash, and i dont want the wipers throwing water all over the guys with the sprayers (ever once in a while i forget and the guys gets so mad...)

I think that was my reaction as well. I found it by randomly holding it for some strange season. I nearly sh!t when the windows rolled down.

Hold both the heating and cooling seat buttons. I think that's the combo.

You might wanna ask the folks that park their cars in the BBQ boroughs of NYC. They probably wish they had folding bumpers too.

Yes, press them both at once to set them to auto mode (heat or cool as needed, based on temperature set on the climate control.) The other great thing about this mode is that it stays set when you restart the car.

When I purchased my 06 (new from Lincoln dealer), the salesman who was explaining the car's features to me got upset when I set the seat to auto. He said "you'll break it, it's trying to heat and cool at the same time." I showed the setting to him in the owner's manual.

I think you might wanna check on the condition and option level on that 2005 Captain. I have a 2006 and I know for a fact it has a firmer setup than my 2001 and she had 255/35/20s vs stock for my 2006. Sounds to me like it may be a non sport. (That can be remedied with ease.) I got my 2006 to pivot a few weeks ago and there is virtually no body roll on initial turn in. I drive my car very little but, when I do, I make the best of it. I honestly think if you do the dampers, anti roll bars and bushings, you will like the new one better. (Maybe)

Yeh, I know of the feature but never use it so I couldn't describe it further. All I know is that it turns it to auto mode. I don't use anything that saves settings with the car. I want to be able to get in and go through a launch sequence flipping switches, buttons, and everything lol.

Yeah I know that one too. I wasn't sure though what it would set the seat AC too so I don't use it. I keep the seat AC on max at all times because I run really hot. Close friends/family call me the bear (or polar bear) from back when I would snowboard with only a hoodie (I'm also a very broad person. 20% wider shoulders than anyone I've met which contributes to the nickname)

Proof lol: Here's me helping my little bro build his first computer

.

I used to use rain-x. Made the windshield "streaky" when I used the wipers.

Now I claybar the glass, use a chemical cleaner like Duragloss 501 with my PC, then use a paint sealant. Others opt for Aquapel, and have had great results.

Just FYI.

I only use the rain x washer fluid. Applies a small amount of rain x when you use it. If it starts to rain I just run it a little and it works like a charm. I had similar streakyness with the normal rain x product so I moved to this stuff
