What kind of headers?

Because the only way anyone's gonna notice is if they're underneath the car...

Besides, with good header coating, there won't be any noticeable difference.

Plus 1...where were you guys a month ago when I was arguing this point..

I painted all of my pipes with exhaust ceramic paint, looks better...but once installed, who knew

How much uncorking did adding headers actually accomplish? 2-3hp? I'm sure it sounds pretty sweet thou

2-3 hp? LMAO! My car was up about 20 hp over stock back in 2010 with stock intake and a chip with headers. I have a dyno graph to prove that. Now I'm up another 20+ with the intake swap and dyno tune and it's running fat! LOL

I like how everyone that is much slower than me knows what's up though. My 3hp headers must not have amounted to much. Damn, maybe I could have actually passed that 400hp Jag the other day instead of just running his doors off. Damn 3/4 lengths LOL

Its funny cuz its mean
I meant 20-30, my case prevented me from hitting the 0 key.

I don't really care about fast in a luxury cruiser, for me its about style, comfort and attitude. If I ever get around to building rail cars then I may.

As the saying goes, if you want to make a small fortune in racing, start out with a large fortune

But in a car that's supposed to be a DD, sure, go ahead, you can run your car into the ground faster than me all you please

i had no problem with getting mine from bill except the price , took a week and yea they do make a difference with the whole exhaust done id say at least 20 hp prob 30 with larger mass air and definitely intake, but if you dont like loud and i mean loud they will aggravate you, i love the sound and got plenty of compliments on the sound, girl hated them.longtubes are the way to go, technically, but if the pipe size is the same as the collector how much difference could there be between the mid length and full 2-5hp?

With a full exhaust (catalytic converters included), they aren't terribly loud.

The longer primary tube length of a full length header will increase torque below peak torque at the expense of decreased torque above the peak.

The key to headers isn't the primary tube length, it's that they are ALL THE SAME LENGTH (which is easier to do with long tube headers - obviously more pipe to work with). Headers improve performance by being 'tuned' so that the exhaust pulses help 'scavenge' the exhaust from the other cylinders.

This only makes sense if you think about it. Think of traffic flowing at a merge - if 2 or three lanes are merging and one car from each lane keeps flowing in a 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3 motion the cars keep moving well. It's when you get the 1-22222-33-111-2-33333 that the traffic stops moving smoothly.

Studies have shown the pulsing sound/shock waves are also smoother helping flow.

That actually doesn't have as large of an effect on performance as you think. Unequal length headers will typically pick up torque below the peak, whereas equal lengths will shine above the peak. But we're talking small numbers here.

actually it all plays a role. primary tube diameter, collector diameter, and primary length all work together.

thought i posted in this thread....guess not.

long tubes and could care less about stainless. just use nice heavy flanges.

equal length long tubes definitely made the diff on one 5.0 i built i had shorty style first which made a big difference over the stock manifold but they were equal length shotry 1 5/8 primary, when i switcjed to the long tubes and pro chamber (MAC) i noticed a considerable difference in low end torque as well as high end pull and ability to rev higher which got me in the range of the cam i was running. for me its a hot rod thing i never got the chance to take the mark to the track because i had too many issues that popped up right when i wanted to go and i dont care about other people knowing if i have headers on the car really you can tell on about any car just because of the sound is so much different than a cat back or removing the cats and high flow mufflers, as for coatings they would have to be stainless for a DD they would last maybe 3 yrs then rust through. i had a friend put non stainless or coated long tubes on his el camino and they showed rust after a month and in less than 3 yrs had pinholes starting. peopl think florida cars are rust free, but the salt air by the ocean and all the rain things rust here too its all how you take care of your ride cleaning garaging, etc. i really appreciate someone trying to make something new and cheaper and i would try a pair, just coat them myself.

You probably did post in this thread but Mike (94m5) has cleaned the thread up a few times because it keeps getting off topic. Not saying your post was the ONLY but there were apparently many of them he has removed.

Keep this thread on topic........

This is the 5th time I've had to clean it up.

Just didn't want you to think you were losing your mind. :p

For whatever reason, Long Tubes definitely work. I've used them personally in several vehicles and seen the improvements they've made in several more. Anybody who disputes that has never experienced the gains, flat out.....

i think we've all lost our minds! LOL

and netkeym, exactly.

we are still waiting.. this thread will keep coming back till we get answers lol

So is this ever gonna take place? Maybe after the holidays?

I'm ready to buy one of the first sets (as I think a lot here are)!

I'll put $$ down as soon as you say the word. Along with lotsa other peeps I'm sure

after the first of the year, ill put money down too
