Painting CDC mesh onyx chrome or powder coat?

I think he said you cold install it yourself if you're handy, or any shop can in a few hours. Oh and he said he would provide a sct tuner with the tune too. It might need to get tweeked a little by each person as no ls is the same but I'm sure he'll account for that too.

How much hp are you expected to gain?

So you're using a different kit than the one QuikLS has up?

He said he was aiming for 400whp. I think that might be with a more aggressive tunethought. I think the gen1 v6 he did made 400 whp so if thats true then the v8 should make it with more ease. I'll be more than happy with 350 whp, that would like 120+ whp from my dyno run when I installed the magnaflows

Yea this turbo project is taking forever. But any LS project takes a long time I suppose.

Yeah, I asked the shop how easy it was to go from chrome to other finishes and they said that the black chrome is a layer over a powder coated base, so I can just do it in a different finish if I dont like it.

I saw tips on a white bmw that I thought were powder coated gloss black so I did that on mine because it looked sick. But I think it was actual a black chrome or onyx chrome, so I'll be getting tips in some dark chrome soon

Hey Alax. I PM'd you about mesh grill. I am not around any shops I trust in Tennessee, can you get me an onyx painted grille and I can pay you for it, and you can ship it to my house so I can install when I return from Afghanistan?

What up man. Here's the thing with black chrome and onyx chrome, since the mesh doesn't have much surface area, it wont appear as black like it would on a wheel. The replica mesh is a little thinner, therefore even less surface area, so i'm thinking you'll notice the black a little less. You could do a powder coated gloss black so it's more on the black side, but if you're ok with how an onyx might come out then I can get that for you.

Also, with the replica mesh, since it's thinner, it's not as stiff as the real cdc mesh. The cdc mesh is stiff enough to be held straight even when you hold it with one hand by a corner, so it keeps it's shape. The replica mesh does not. I can't cut it to shape and have it coated because it wont lay flat.I would need to attach it to the grille and have them do the whole grille in onyx black. Then you can have a shop paint the surround to match your car like you would a normal chrome surround grille.

I dont have much time cause of school but I can do your grille for you one weekend and take it to get coated.

That I know of, 4 or 5 have a cdc grille, including me. Very hard to find. I have only seen one go up for sale and it's the one I bought from ken a year ago.

Guess you can't really tell the difference in pictures. You can appreciate the onyx chrome in person better. I actually found an extra cdc mesh insert on ebay, so I think I might get that one powder coated gloss black to get a mesh while keeping the onyx chrome too.
