SwedishMark project - The Ugly Duckling

2 12w7's in a vented box should definitely get you your 140db's, depending on how much power you're putting to them.

My first Mark VIII had 2 12w7's in a sealed box (1.5 cubic ft for each sub). With a JL 1000/1 amp powering EACH sub (2 total), I metered at 143db's. That was also with both amps turned nearly all the way down. :D

My current setup metered at 136.x recently. Just 1 12w7 with a 1000/1 amp (also turned down) and a slot-vent box...

I'm only gonna run both on the A6 if I'm going twin 12w7's. I like the amp, it's not even close to delivering as much power as two 12w7's would need but the SQ from that amp is amazing :)

Change of direction, Again!
There will be no twin 12w7's.
Picked up these bad boys today

Digital Designs 1508

I don't think I'm gonna be able to fit them all with the install I have in mind but hopefully atleast 3 of them :)
They were cheap and I'm gonna get all the money back I spent on them when selling the 12w7.
Lets see if I like these boys. They're suppose to be loud, really loud! Trying them out tomorrow.

So I wired them up today and tried them out...
Holy **** they hit hard! They arent the best on these "single notes" if we shall say it like that. It's probably the box also which ruins it. The box is definetly not good.
But they hit incredibly hard. The 12w7 has no chance against these boys...
The SQ.. Meh. Can't really judge it yet because of the box. To Eric Clapton it did the job very well. Smooth and calm bass. To Dire Straits it's was a little too "on" if we shall say it like that. Mainly, they hit too hard for that type of music.

Some pics of the ghetto "install" for trying them out.

The cat also helped me

And I can't forget a video ;) Imo, with this box, they really shine on rock music. It wasn't that cool to rap/Dubstep etc. Sure, it's ****ing loud. But the punch in the face you get from rock music on these bad boys are 1000x more fun and cooler.

Verdict?
I paid $500 for all for including the sub enclosure. I will easily get all those money back from selling the JL sub.

I'm going to miss the SQ from the JL sub though. These boys hit way too hard for being good at SQ. But then again, I can't fully judge them without a proper enclosure. The one I have was both flexing as hell and making bad noises.

I recieved my DD front system a few days ago so I immidiately began installing the mids.
Here's a comparision between my new DD mids and the DLS mids. The DLS ones are so much better looking and the cone is a lot stronger.

Installed. Was pretty cold doing it, -8C

Conclusion? My installation sucks. I barely earned anything on the new mids. So my install is bad. I belive a lot is leaking out to the door. Going to try my best fixing it. We'll see what happens, I must fix it though.

On another note, I recieved a sign of the sound pressure in the car from the subs.
The picture speaks for itself

As long as things I can see breaks because of the spl it doesn't bother me. But I'm hoping I wont get all kind of trouble with the car because things behind the dash breaks and causes weird problems :p

So, an update on this? ;)
With my job I rarely get any time to work on my cars and when I do, the T-bird swallows my time.
Luckily I have a friend who has lots of knowledge in car audio (he's been my "guru" through out my build) who wanted to build my system. Mainly because of the special setup with 4 8"s in the rear deck.

So here's his progress pictures of it
He was complaining that my previous enclosure was heavy, I have no idea what he's talking about ;)

And also my DLS Ultimate A6 was really struggling with the four DD 1508's, delivering only a total of 1200w.
So I bought these babies!
Can you guess what's in it?

Oh yes! It's not one, but two Mosconi AS300.2! 3.6kw should be enough for those subs, 900w pure SQ on each sub ;)

They seem to fit here... Hmmm ;)

He also tried them out in his fathers Saab, they're sooo yummy!

Anyways, with more travels coming with my work, I'm quite tied up with things to do and he wanted to keep building the entire system in my car, including the front stage etc. So on sunday I'm driving over to him (2 hours drive) and give him the rest of the stuff.
Very boring because I'm not building my own stereo system this time. It was really fun. But there just isn't any time to do it. Sucks quite a lot. But atleast I know it's gonna be done really seriously! :)
