Taking orders for gen1 heatshields

After going thru several cone filter trying to get the best fit for the LSK/AMSI heatshield I got the K&N RF-1015. It is the biggest K&N that will fit and looks great. The people who have purchased the heatsield for the factory intake tube have more options as the area outside of the heatshield is much larger. Here is a pic of the K&N RF-1015...

I have tried several different filters...lol

I JUST had a conversation with a buddy of mine saying my little RU2520 KN filter looks severely undersized. LOL. I have a Spectre 4 inch reduced on hand. Is this the part where I say thanks for doing the homework on what part number works best? LOL

I was able to trim the LSK heat shield to fit a little better with the eBay intake tube. The first picture is of the heat shield installed prior to any trimming. The second picture is of the heat shield trimmed. I trimmed the side of the shield that sits close to the wheel well back to the rivet that holds the bottom on. I probably could have trimmed it back more but didn't want to take the rivet out. The rest of that side I trimmed about a half inch off, except for where it bolts into the car. I also trimmed about 1/2 inch to an inch off the top. Its best to test fit it and see what works best for your set-up.

The rest of the pics are of the install which I painted the shield black with caliper paint.

That is what we were thinking, the heat-shield was pushing back on the tube, that is why none of the intake hoses were lining up with the engine cover. Some tin snips and about 15 minutes later it fits perfectly. It also looks great painted as opposed to unpainted.

You should message the other ebay sellers to see if they want to buy a set from you, like 10-15 shields, so they can sell their intake with your heat shields like K&N does.

Yeah, just saw you listings, good work.

As I said earlier, LVC members will still be able to get these for the same price. On ebay they will be $15 more.

Look ma I'm famous! lol I wish my engine was cleaner in that picture but I do not wash this engine because of the crap seals for the coils. My town car I washed the engine about once a month. It looked brand new when it was 14 years old.

Installed Hite's heatshield today, finally. Looks good my friend thanks again!

Any update on Gen2's?

The gen2 isn't looking very promising. In order for it to work you would have to buy a $60 intake tube that doesn't replace the whole tube and has a spot to bolt in your MAF sensor, a $40-60 filter, and a heatshield from me. For a little more $ someone could buy the K&N Typhoon kit that come with everything including the entire intake tube. I don't think I'd sell many because of all the extra things people would have to buy from different places to make it work. Sorry gen2 owners but it doesn't look like its going to happen.

Thank you for your help hite !

got all the parts ordered and awaited arrival.

Prepped the "HitePerformance" custom GEN I - LS heatshield
and finally got around to installing everything today.

Right on ...
yeah, I'm very happy with the whole thing, thanks for the "parts" recommendations.

~ Do wish to replace the white hose that came with the CAI to something in black.
~ Also do still need to trim the top of the heatshield a little as it's just buldging the hood.
~ need to trim the plastic on the cowel a bit to fit a little better.

Any recommendations on changing out the white tube to black ?

I painted tubes on my intake with high temperature engine paint and it's holding up pretty well.

I sanded the factory plastic tubes down to fit in the holes of the intake tube and wrapped them with elelectrical tape. LDM found some black hose to fit on his. It looks good. I would also replace the blue throttle body coupler with a black one from autozone/oreillys.

I watched this the other day. He definitely name drops a few times. :)
