That is all too familiar to me! Hey you're going to need a core support, I have a guy that is selling me one for $50 bucks, I just need to go pick it up sometime but if I can straighten mine without replacing it, it's all yours for $50 plus shipping. PM if you're interested.

Here's pics of the car at the pull n pay that I got the front end off of...

So after I got the parts I had to let it sit in the driveway like this for a little while because Ohio kept getting snow after snow... then rain, and more freakin rain... which is why my sinuses/allegeries are going nuts right now

Here are a few items that I now have bubblewrapped and in my closet for safe keeping!

Drilling out those spot welds isn't fun. I replaced mine a few months ago and it was very tedious. On top of that, the replacement support I got had very messy spot welds (I don't know how, but they were globby). Yours certainly looks a lot cleaner than mine, lol

Just as soon as I can finish putting the new front clip on my buddy's '88 Mustang coupe I'll be able to get more dedicated to this thing!

Cutting the spot welds out is the fast part... cutting 2 sets of spot welds, then prepping them and the new panel then filling them back in is the slower part!

Thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead, since I've made a little progress.

I'm done with the front clip install on the mustang, Just helping him with other bodywork issues and then assisting in putting the drivetrain into it... so this has freed up some of my time!

I started pretty much where I left off a few months ago before the weather got kinda crazy! The humidity hasn't been completely unbearable here the past few days so I did the final grinding on the car, panel straightening, and other clean up on the car and the core support to get the two to properly mate up. About an hour or so of hammering, grinding and a little weld thru primer on tuesday left me pretty happy with how it fit.

Got home from work yesterday and dragged the welder out in the driveway, along with about 6 pair of vise grips to hold everything in place and proceeded to weld it up!

Overall I'm extremely pleased with the way it turned out. Couldn't have been better I think! I once spoke with Jamie on the phone about replacing a core support in these cars, and he had said he had done a partial on one of his old cars and it turned out real nice, I was going to do the same thing until I saw that only 4 spot welds on either side of the radiator held the bottom half of the core support to the fram rails. So I have a completely new core support that is the same color as my car already! (minus the copper color for the weld thru primer)

Bolted the hood on it, and was able to shut it and open it for the first time in almost 8-ish months with the hood release in the car!!

I'm pretty stoked! Can't wait to get the rest of my parts and get this baby back on the road!!!

I'll post up some pics tonight after I get home if I get a chance!

I realized I never posted any pictures... LOL

Anyway, here ya go, here's some progress from a few months ago before I realized I needed a parts car pretty bad!

Enjoy! Hopefully I can make some more progress soon!

looks like good progress, how about the "buck mangler". My pops killed 11 deer in one year in NC, the thing is he was driving a 68 4dr LTD, like a tank. one time he hit one deer with the front end while another tried to jump over the rear, clipped it's legs and the deer crapped all down the side of the car, total damage to that car for the year was bent hideaway light trim and buckled fender that were banged out, we had plenty of deer burgers though.

Thanks!!! I cant wait to strip my parts car and get this thing on the road again! I've got 4.10 gears, a trac lok waiting in the wings! And my friend has a 3500 stall converter he's gonna sell me real cheap! I am stoked!!

Not bad for the first time ever replacing a core support eh? lol

some awesome work. had to do this to a friend's vw golf. his dad rear ended a jeep. hit it hard enough to punt the jeep into a ditch. but it came together surprisingly quick. and looks like your getting there too.

I'd settle for a drawing in the sand from a mentally retarded midget.

Coming soon!

She ran kinda rough for being the first time fired up in almost 2 years. Ticked a little bit for a few seconds then smoothed out.

It was late by the time I cleaned everything up, I didn't have time to upload any pics/videos
