Thanks! I call it Gray Ghost because its kinda gray in color, and I totalled it, so it was dead, and I brought it back to life, so I guess you could call it the gray zombie but that just sounds silly lol

btw, I havent forgotten about the parts you needed off my parts car. It just hasnt had its turn to get stripped yet.

I've still got a ton to do to this car before it's ready for inspection, but as of right now... I could actually drive it down the road if I had to.





I started by scuffing and cleaning off all the surface rust that had settled on my welds over the past few months since I couldnt find time to work on it...

Painted it with a very good black recommended by my friend who works at a paint supply store.

Repaired my headlight harness on the passenger side, used wiring from my parts car, butt connectors and heat shrink tubing, wrapped in electrical tape

And the video of it's first fire up.. I forgot to plug in the ACTS in the intake tube so the engine light was on and it was running *kinda* rough, plugged it in after this video and it ran great...

Been a while since I updated this thread. I did a lot of suspension work to this car after it was rebuilt. Replaced all the bushings and moveable parts in the front end except the rack, and the rack bushings.

I also had the rear subframe out to install new subframe bushings, and install my 4.10 gear and trac lok

Things were going well until my trans let go again. Cant remember exactly what went wrong, but it was losing fluid pressure.

Anyway, got that sorted out after it sat for about a year *again*.

This time though, it went back together with with a Mag-Hytech deep trans pan, and a 3500 stall converter. And I told myself no driving the car this time until it's completely mechanically sound. I'm done with a little here and a little there to get it back on the road. I've got a truck to drive so no worries about transportation.

Stuck it in his driveway until we could get it in there. It sat in the garage for a while until our schedules could align, he was transitioning into a new job and didnt have a solid schedule yet, but then finally we were able to start tearing it apart!

I had a stash of parts crammed in to every compartment of this car waiting to be installed... so we started making a game plan because there were soo many things we had to take off or replace while something else was taken off or apart that it started getting confusing.

But all the cogs started falling in to place once we got rolling... had very little snags, most the bolts came out with no issues surprisingly. Except for one motor mount bolt broke off in the block, that was quickly extracted with a welder. I can weld pretty darn good, but I was just so disgusted and upset that the motor mount bolt broke that I couldnt even look at it, but my friend's little brother, and dad are both welders, and they buzzed it out with ease. talk about a relief!

I fought with the egr pipe on the car for the longest time because I thought that I could still get away with running EGR.. until I reviewed the pics of the cobra manifold install again over on LOD on Warden's car. So then I just bought a plug and plugged it off on the new cobra manifold.

Cobra manifolds went on without a hitch. All the original nuts and bolts came out with relative ease and were reused since it would have been a lot harder to remove the studs.

I had also came across a good deal on a set of used TurboChuck type9's and did not pass that up. I replaced Chuck's original bushings with some Energy Suspension bushings based on his recommendation.

As you can see, I also installed my freshly powdercoated oil pan :)
 
Once the Cobra manifolds were installed, I began to think about exhaust, well I had these flanges from a stock Mach 1 H pipe, but didnt like how small they were, and how much fab I would have to do to get it to meet the rest of the exhaust.

So, these are for sale for $40 + shipping. Will work great if going to mate to stock exhaust, but I found a JBA H pipe for an '01-'04, which is mandrel bent, 2.5 inches, and will work with my exhaust from mandrelexhaustsystems of florida.

This one was taken recently, as we're now working on the trans cooler and trans lines, etc and preparing for the K member reinstall once I can get it pressure washed.

Still have to swap out the PS rack, pump, and high pressure line before the K goes back in.

So we removed the bracket holding the ambient temp sensor, and the VCRM, or VRCM, or whatever that thing is...

drilled a hole in the header panel with a step bit, and got it remounted.

Then we installed the trans cooler. Fits perfectly between everything. Like a glove!

Also remounted the relay box, not super nice but it will still get hit with air to keep it cool. used the lower mounting bracket on the trans cooler and a piece of flat steel and nuts/bolts that the cooler came with. Jammed the bottom into the wiring channel and it stays put pretty well!

Damn right. I'm using it as a standalone cooler. No more trans failure!

I wont be driving this car in the cold anyway so a bypass or thermostat wont be needed here. Plus, if I do have to start it up, I'll let it idle and warm up first. not that it will be finished soon anyway.
 
I'm using my cooler as a stand alone, its about half as big as yours. I'm thinking of giving it It's own little fan thou. Looks good so far dude
 
LOL No. Still have to finish up the trans lines, install K member, new rack/pump/high pressure line, install underdrive pullies, and then put the front of the engine back together... and install my steering shaft mods. Also have to do full exhaust... Still havent made it up to Gilby's to get my bumper cover from Mike so I can do my exhaust (it has exhaust cut outs on the bumper cover). Speedo recal wiring, sequential taillights, tune... sooo much stuff...
 
I might take the exhaust stubs Jesse. I need to get those hubs done..... Never again getting a flu shot....
