Waiting Room

Oh man that sucks...

Yeah not a good time... face finally healed up but my shoulder is all sorts of jacked up. But yeah I love working out, running etc. Friend of mine owns a business called Head Sharp, which is a business that focuses on mentally motivating people to work out, get in shape etc. I do a lot of stuff with him to help out people (usually younger) get motivated and we even have coached several people to state championships (wrestling).

Nice thats awesome. Yeah I enjoy lifting but thats about it really haha. My buddy and I have been lifting every other day since January. Before that it was just a few days a week but we decided to go harder. Its fun stuff

Yeah definitely, just make sure you're eating right otherwise you're just lifting to burn the calories you took in that day. I eat breakfast about 4 times in the morning - oatmeal, high protein cereal, egg whites, and oatmeal again (every 45 mins) same, bland salad everyday for lunch (I'm actually trying to gain weight, so it has about a pound of chicken in it). Big dinner, usually two turkey burgers, turkey bacon, protein bread, then Yogurt, or Casein before bed - to sustain weight while sleeping. If you want to lose weight while lifting then do more cardio, eat yogurt or casein during the day and eat often but very small portions.

plan on another with the insurance check... or are you done?

I'm done for now... I can barely move my right arm honestly... I've been working - barely everyday still. But until my shoulder gets better I can't do anything . I can barely lift my arm to put a shirt on some mornings. No permanent damage, just dislocated - bone bruising, muscle bruising, long recovery period unfortunately. By the time Im ready itll be winter.. maybe ill shop around for a good deal on a bike then... not sure.

Yeah definitely. My buddy was always a skinny dude so hes been eating TONS of food to make up for his metabolism. I on the other hand am coming from the other direction lol. I'm not super fat or anything but I'm a big guy so I tend to eat less and go mainly for proteins so I burn off some fat in the muscle creation. We both just achieved new maxes today on bench which was nice. We hit a plateau for awhile there

Two summers ago, hard to say because it feels like yesterday I lost nearly 25 pounds. It's easier when you have a mindless job (no offense), then work out afterwards for 2-3 hours. It's all about what you eat though, that's the hardest part. That summer my job schedule, and working out aloud me to eat 5-6 meals a day like you're supposed to. It was a lot baked/grilled chicken, salad and boiled veggies. The year after that I gained 30 pounds though :(, had a stressful job, got home didn't feel like going to lift, ate whatever I wanted. It's brutal man. I want to get back to my freshman playing status, straight jacked.

Good feeling there :) I work out with a buddy who's about 50 pounds heavier than me and I can lift as much if not more than him on some exercises. But he literally has no desire to be there... I'm trying to help him mentally get into it but it's just not happening. If you go to the gym with the "ugh lets just get this over with attitude" you'll never achieve those goals. I'm actually CRAVING going, I just can't... I may start running next week again. I'm glad to hear you guys went up some weight, just keep adding 5 pounds even if you do 1-2 less reps, eventually you'll get to 10-12 whatever you do then you add 5 more again. I only do 5-7 reps.

I literally spent my entire winter break my jr. year lining up a diet plan and workout for myself that summer. It worked but man was it boring. Need to find me a woman to cook lol :).

Like you just mentioned, its ALL mental. The stress can even be a good thing, when I was in your situation at one point I didn't want to work out but the stress of working that kind of job made me angry lol. So I went out bought some gloves and hit the bag in my gym. Once I did that everyday for about 15 minutes (which forced me to go to the gym) I started mixing in some running/lifting and then it became fun. You just gotta find a way to release the stress so you can begin enjoying your workouts again. But yes eating right is crucial. Both eating right and working out MUST go hand in hand.

The stress wasn't the motivating type, believe it or not the job was high paced yet slow at the same time. There were days where I'd spend 8-9 hours laying out customer products with our instruments to make them work. It was frustrating but a good work experience given I was a co-op. Needless to say I would rather work on the OEM side than the supplier side.

That is something colleges don't teach you, the stresses of a 9-5 job. I was so used to physical labor that the mental part was easy. It then flipped where I sat there and had to think for 8+ hours a day.

I know how you feel man. In college I jumped from dead-end job to dead-end job doing everything from limo driving (lol) to mechanic at an oil change place and everything in between. Now I'm an attorney for an immigration law firm. I work literally 24/7, very stressful. My job is more mentally draining than anything else though, there are days I would prefer the manual labor job. But my point was you just have to find what motivates you, regardless of the stress/job/situation, to get back into the gym (if that's what you desire). - My motivation was punching something haha.

NFL season has officially begun! My team (the Bucs) have already won almost half as many as we did all of last season haha

Yes sir. Loved them all of my life. You would think I would be part of this steeler nation that is everywhere in PA.

What game were you at?

I was down in Tampa last summer on vacation and got to take a tour of the stadium. I bought a throwback Alstott jersey down there too bc Alstott is the Sh!t.
