Waiting Room

I recently updated to ICS from either GB or HC and I have no idea why my phone didn't do it sooner. After the update I changed everything over to gmail except for school stuff and now I don't know if I'll ever get an iPhone after wanting one for the longest time.

If it was a phone then it was from GB. ICS is FANTASTIC. Jellybean is ICS but with iPhone smoothness

The issue with updates is that manufacturers get the core software from Google then take FOREVER to put their software and changes on it. This is why Nexus devices tend to be the best. With a Nexus device your updates basically come straight from Google meaning there isnt that huge lag period from a software update from Google and when it actually hits your phone (which can be half a year sometimes...). I mean ICS came out at the end of 2011...

Yeh I know what you mean. I think it differs carrier to carrier as well. I have an evo 3d that was running GB apparently and it updated much later than the Verizon equivalent according to a buddy of mine who is an Android fan boy.

Yup. The carriers tend to be terrible. Sometimes they hold up updates to sell newer android phones because people want the newest version. Greedy bastards...

Holy f*ck mens. I randomly checked my tire iron today and found it was extremely rusted. It's been a year+ since I last used it - back then only the paint was peeling.

Already grinded it all off and in the process of painting it :D

Just venting to the interwebs.

So a senior engineering student must complete senior design. Our bright professor must hate me. I just got back off of a one year co-op hiatus, so he decides to stick me in a group of people that I don't care to have a beer with, let alone collaborate with, and for the 4+ years that I've been here, have never talked to before. We were assigned groups and projects today and guess who, out of the four, was the only one there?

Needless to say I may have to double or triple my homework beer for the next few months and KCCO. I can work with others professionally but nothing rustles my jimmies, grinds my gears, or elevates my bp more than having to do school work with a bunch of mouth breathers.

Good thing about apple is frequent updates.

I like android phones but i prefer the interface of iOS, so im on an iphone4 with verizon. Not sure if i will get the 5 or not. I will lose my unlimited data, but i will gain LTE data and a much faster processor. The 4 has has just a single core chip, the A4 from the first ipad and clocked slightly slower.

I did upgrade to iOS 6 and for the most part i like everything. I could care less about google maps, as i have my own dedicated gps app for looking things up.

Yeah, thats why I really dont suggest anything but Nexus devices to people. Any android Nexus device gets its updates (basically) straight from Google. No waiting 6 months or more

Edit: I appear to have said that already. Lol oops

Since you guys seem knowledgeable about phones, I am planning on getting a Droid Razr Maxx. Good buy or bad?

Don't really want an iphone.

That phone's been out for quite some time now has it not? Understand that phones become "outdated" in about 6 months now with exception for the iPhone which is about 12-18 months. If you're not desperate for a new phone and want the greatest and latest, I would wait till the next big release by Samsung, HTC, or Motorolla.
