What did you do to your LS today?

Sorry JJ, hope you understood that it's brand new and in the shop with PCM problems. Which they can't figure out.

What GM, and even tractor companies like John Deere, argues is that you, as an owner, don’t actually own your car. Rather, you’re sort of just borrowing it for an extended amount of time and paying for the rights to use the technology

~ what about picking my nose, am I still allowed to do that in this world?

unbelievable, Big.. Btw, have you guys seen the latest movement by the car companies trying to make it illegal to work on your own car under copyright infringement laws? This country... Look it up if you don't believe me, something like 13 major car companies (ford/Lincoln included).

https://www.yahoo.com/autos/s/gm-ford-others-want-working-own-car-illegal-160000229.html

You know, this is how bogus stuff gets spread around the internet. You perpetuate the clickbait headline, and don't read the article.

The damn article you posted said:
....Listing the vehicle as a “mobile computing device,” the law would hypothetically protect automakers from pesky owners looking to alter any sort of technology in the vehicle that relates to the onboard computer...
Also, unless you are a sensationalist person over 55, Yahoo news probably isn't the best place. Try this.

Sure, it isn't a best case scenario but they have made it clear its about the modern computers in our cars. Not everything that encompasses "working" like you stated.

Next you'll be telling me about this one weird trick for a bigger penis and cheaper car insurance.

Easy there big guy, was just creating conversation no need to be all sandy about it lol. I did read the article and read many about the subject. You go ahead and show that keyboard who's boss :)

LOL .... too much!!!

Governor Walker ... “I got together with some other local Governors and we all decided that this needed to happen.

... offender will face trial with a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in jail.

I can just see it now, Hey tough guy, what are you in for?

.... I was picking my nose while driving

Oh careful with Brutus over there, he's in for nose picking.

oh this world, how far we've come!

Going to keep making sandwiches for now. Hopefully it won't be illegal in the near future to make ones own.

I love it when some idiot bean counter that has never driven a big truck thinks they know how to program the engine parameters. When I started driving with Prime Inc., the first truck I got was limited to 1500 rpm and less than 10 psi of turbo boost maxed out at 60mph. It got 6mpg and they tried to tell me I needed to slow down. They had it programmed like it had 3.42 gears with duals but I had 3.36 with wide singles. I threatened to sue and they reprogrammed it after which I got 7.5mpg. After the 50k service, I had them turn up the rpm to 1800 and started getting over 8mpg. I told them the engine brake is rated to do its best at 1700-2100 so I guess for safety's sake they saw it my way.

The best PROGRAMMED trucks I've driven were Marten Transport with the Cummins ISX 475 and they told me if I went over 2300rpm I would be fired. They still had the review limit on if empty but when I was pulling a hill I could wind it up to 2100rpm.

What a bunch of horse siht with the DMCA/car/John Deere BS.

And then Tesla isn't involved. Hell, Tesla released all of their patents a few months ago. Free. You can practically build Teslas and sell them without being chased with a lawsuit.

Why would Tesla give away all their research for open use? Because Elon Musk is nutty. And it helps inspire innovation. It gives other companies a jump start in producing efficient, alternative energy vehicles so they don't as much time researching themselves what Tesla has known. Not to mention a standardized charger plug helps disperse the cost of charger station construction because other companies can make universal stations for their own benefit, leading to wider public access to electric vehicles.

Tesla makes me feel warm and fuzzy sometimes. And the whole Over-The-Air software updates replacing ECU reflashes? Pretty cool.

Isn't it strange how when you don't care about the money you make it hand over fist, but when money is all you care about you go bankrupt?

Told them to start stocking up on brake shoes and fire extinguishers for their trailers tandems. (leaning on the spike downhill)

After much discussion they permitted the local shop to reflash it and disable gear down protection and set the engine braking to come on at decelerate compared to on brake application. Had it out for an overnight trip last night but load was only 14K of handtowels, no hills, didn't need to pull hard but does seem to run better over all. Said they wanted to work with me but it was a company wide application and in place to promote drivers to shift earlier in hopes of fuel savings. Had the console read out instant MPG and on the flats running just over 55MPH with that light load, she maintains 8.3MPG, overall bumped the previous trip average from 6.4 to a 7.3 ... some progress but need steep grades and heavier loads to see the difference.

All in all, nearly threw in the towel and came close to calling up the seasonal local guy to haul his equipment around for this summer again, we'll see.

Got a heavy heading to north of GA, leaving this Sunday, if you see me with my thumb out along I-81, means I parked it and looking to get back home somehow. LOL

Fn thing though, seriously, brand new Prostar, sweet as hell but governed down and chocked out to try and save about $700 in fuel annually per truck. PLEASE!!!! I need some balls going up hill and some RPM to properly use the engine brake on the way down!

These newer units are really taking all the fun out of trucking. I'm all about emissions control, progressive shifting and fuels savings and I don't need to be loud going down the road but I will not scarifies engine braking by means of RPM limitations.

It had a sputter on the pedal as well which seems to have been rectified but I need heavier loads and steeper grades to confirm.

<Sorry about off topic>

Swapped out my gray backed clear corners for black backed clear corners. HUGE DIFFERENCE! They would look good on a white, silver or beige LS though. I've still got em if anyone wants them. They have the plugs and some no name LEDs with them.

I started replacing the rear rotors, rear slide pins, and all 4 brake hoses with braided lines. I found I had a frozen pin. Probably related to the warped rotor.

Now my question: is a frozen, $12 bracket an appropriate reason for a full STR upgrade??

Stolen today, while I worked at jazz Fest in New Orleans. Parked in same legal spot Fri and Sat then returned abt 7:45 p Sunday , ( after lady gaga and Toni Bennett) Big Whoop! Called the impound 3 x and they have no record of towing it. And, since I live in a different parish then where it was stolen, I cant file a police report until I go back to the scene of the crime....This was my 3rd LS , 2000, 2003 and this "06....somebody must love some LS....but not mine ! what will I get from comprehensive with GEICO? I had it all, I tell ya, I had it all!! Now what, ? blue book for an 80K miles EXcellent LS is only $5600...:( Im gonna keep praying and hope it turns up at the impund but 5.5 hrs after it went missing they still dont have it.....

Well, this makes me nervous about my occasional trips to New Orleans. I did loose a couple of LSes there once, but I found them after a few hours. (We both thought the other had made note of where we parked...)

Ive seen a couple DIY GPS trackers for ~$20... Just need a 12v source. Might be worth looking into one of these days.

The only useful ones are the ones that broadcast location in real-time. So, that would require cellular service (at least a data plan). Wouldn't that be at least $20 a month? I have one of the $20 (maybe less) GPS tackers, but it only tells you where it's been once (if) you get it back.

I have one of those cheap Chinese trackers . I think it cost ~$20 on amazon. It uses a Sim card of your choice. I use H2O wireless at $10/90days which is $40/year for a basic 100minute/text per 90day installation. I call it, it texts me GPS coordinates, speed, the status of its power supply (12v in, has internal battery) and, if wired, whether the door is open. You can also text a command to set off a separate (not included) alarm, disable the fuel pump (supplied normally-closed relay harness), or listen to a supplied mic.

Sounds like a dream. Except the catch. (From what ive been told) They're blowing these units out because carriers are dropping 2g service (basic call/text) to reclaim unused radio wavelengths. Iirc At&t plans to get rid of 2g by the end of 2016

Yesterday I had to seal the Pass Side Headlamp assy.

Worked out quite well I think.

I thought I was in for quite an expense. It turns out my car has the original bulbs from the factory. I'm almost afraid to get new bulbs since these lasted 9 years.

BTW, I haven't had this problem long so, I didn't have to clean anything. I used cheap tampons to soak up the excess water and I cleared the vent tubes (3).

I'm praying for you Bro. I don't think I would want to live anymore if I lost my LS. If it was taken maliciously, it would have to be someone familiar with these cars. Keep us posted on this. I have a Brickhouse security tracker that I can use on my car.
