FULLY DIPPED LS

What GM, and even tractor companies like John Deere, argues is that you, as an owner, don’t actually own your car. Rather, you’re sort of just borrowing it for an extended amount of time and paying for the rights to use the technology
unbelievable, Big.. Btw, have you guys seen the latest movement by the car companies trying to make it illegal to work on your own car under copyright infringement laws? This country... Look it up if you don't believe me, something like 13 major car companies (ford/Lincoln included).

Also, unless you are a sensationalist person over 55, Yahoo news probably isn't the best place. Try this. The damn article you posted said:....Listing the vehicle as a “mobile computing device,” the law would hypothetically protect automakers from pesky owners looking to alter any sort of technology in the vehicle that relates to the onboard computer...
Governor Walker ... “I got together with some other local Governors and we all decided that this needed to happen.
... offender will face trial with a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in jail.
Sorry JJ, hope you understood that it's brand new and in the shop with PCM problems. Which they can't figure out.
What a bunch of horse siht with the DMCA/car/John Deere BS.
And then Tesla isn't involved. Hell, Tesla released all of their patents a few months ago. Free. You can practically build Teslas and sell them without being chased with a lawsuit.
Why would Tesla give away all their research for open use? Because Elon Musk is nutty. And it helps inspire innovation. It gives other companies a jump start in producing efficient, alternative energy vehicles so they don't as much time researching themselves what Tesla has known. Not to mention a standardized charger plug helps disperse the cost of charger station construction because other companies can make universal stations for their own benefit, leading to wider public access to electric vehicles.
Tesla makes me feel warm and fuzzy sometimes. And the whole Over-The-Air software updates replacing ECU reflashes? Pretty cool.
I love it when some idiot bean counter that has never driven a big truck thinks they know how to program the engine parameters. When I started driving with Prime Inc., the first truck I got was limited to 1500 rpm and less than 10 psi of turbo boost maxed out at 60mph. It got 6mpg and they tried to tell me I needed to slow down. They had it programmed like it had 3.42 gears with duals but I had 3.36 with wide singles. I threatened to sue and they reprogrammed it after which I got 7.5mpg. After the 50k service, I had them turn up the rpm to 1800 and started getting over 8mpg. I told them the engine brake is rated to do its best at 1700-2100 so I guess for safety's sake they saw it my way.
The best PROGRAMMED trucks I've driven were Marten Transport with the Cummins ISX 475 and they told me if I went over 2300rpm I would be fired. They still had the review limit on if empty but when I was pulling a hill I could wind it up to 2100rpm.
Ive seen a couple DIY GPS trackers for ~$20... Just need a 12v source. Might be worth looking into one of these days.
