What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

Just took of the WinterForces this morning, just in time for the 1-3 inches of forcasted snow that we will be getting overnight. Awesome....

I know! They've been wrong pretty much all season up here, and I've put around 5,000 miles on them since November, so it was about time to take them off. Nice to drive around without hearing the studs dig into the road. Back end doesn't swing around anymore when taking a corner because of the studs, its nice.

yea, im familiar with weather there, im from sandwich, on the cape.all you have to do is think about going back to normal tires, then wham. just like here not a cloud in the sky, wash and detail car, instant rain.

I walked past my 93 this morning. Haven't driven it in like a week.

Waiting for my tax check to come in so I can get stuff done to it!

Got a 98 ce yesterday. Went to DMV this morning 20 min before they open about 50 people standing in line outside in the snow waiting. Did a U turn and came back home. Dammm goverment, I'll make my own plate.

For those of you that have done the Oil filter adap gasket, would 2 gal of 50/50 coolant be enough?

Honestly, when I did the one on my '96, I didn't lose much coolant. Maybe a quart. I've heard others who have lost a couple of gallons. I was surprised when I did mine, there was very little mess.

Thank's. Think I might just pick up a gal of green and a jug of distilled. Was going to pick up some 50/50 on sale but I have no clue if it's green. Market's flooded with all this universal junk.

I want green damit.

New starter

After 160,000 miles my starter was acting up. At times I would have to hold the key in the start position for 30 to 45 seconds before the starter would activate. I was worried it was a PATS issue but it turned out that the original solenoid was all gummed up, brushes about half worn, commutator, bushings, gears all perfect. Probably could have just cleaned up the solenoid.
I had already bought one of those Chi...se starters from E.ay and was very impressed. It works absolutely perfect. I would recommend one of those new gold anodized beauties for about 1/3 the price of a parts store rebuild.:)

Wife let wet snow overpower the wiper motor and blew a 10 amp fuse but that's it - 1 oil change so far mobil one synth 5-30 - put a set of rainex wiper blades on it - checked the tires lol - wiper fluid ---- 000 i did put back shocks on it and ddm hid low beams - 6000 kelvin .
I'm dyin to get to the mufflers and do some things -- been looking at 373 gears and posi - think ill wait for a deal - might get 18s this summer - might do 17s - haven't made up my mind yet -- so far so good! --- your car is bichin man - love the look!

Nice! yours should look good with those rims with the black inserts, I'd say try sensor lowering it..but I'd be weary of those bags leaking if you do that..

You going to do a full dual exhaust or just mufflers? I'd like to get a true dual system put on mine, I have to give my friend a call who works at a meineke and see if he'll hook me up with free labor, and just the cost of pipe..I'm sure most shops wouldn't be cheap if you asked to bend up all that pipe..

you said you were waiting for a deal,i guess you found one. what size are those? they do look nicel.
if you buy an exhaust system, the shops should run the pipes for 2-300 depending how far you go. i brought mine to shop with open headers and ran the LMS dbl x system with mufflers for 300.

the1, very nice setup. What exhaust shop is that?

I used to go to one in Hialeah (I can't remember the name right now) that inside an industrial/warehouse areas. They do a pretty good job with custom bending.

good lookin setup there 81 man i bet it sounds killer!!! -- i gotta have headers - engines just aren't right without headers.

God what a day...

Took her to my buddies shop for the adapter gasket, it could've gone smoother. The gasket I bought was bad, leaked as soon as we lowered it and let her run. Luckily we caught it in time. A quick run to the parts store and 30 minutes later the new one was in and not leaking. I'll take blame for it. I felt bad, long story.........

But we got it done along with replacing a couple coils that were bad causing my misfire issue, and new Mec V throughout the PS. He scoped it out on his work scanner and everything else is solid. Still going to buy new boot's n' plug's though.

She's good to go. :)

wheels

Yaa 81 them wheels come in 17x7.5 and 18x8 - not sure what one im choosing yet - 17s if i chose 55 series and 18s with the 50s - still trying to decide man im getting older now and my age is showing - just not enough side wall with them 18s for my taste and if i get what i want they are 28 or 29 inches tall so i might have to settle on the 17s --- might look like a truck when i get done lol

Well, this weekend I was sorta lazy. I didn't get a fargin' thing done to my Lincoln. However, I did get the oil changed in my stepson's POS Honda and installed new spark plug wires and cleaned the K&N air filter in the Cobra. When I drove the Cobra after installing the new wires (the ones that were on it were the original 1996 wires with 16 years and 52K miles on them) it felt like it had 50 more hp! It was amazing! My wife would kill me if she knew I melted her brand new tires in first, got sideways in second, and broke the tires loose again in third before finally letting off the gas when the speedo hit 110mph! Good God I love driving that car!!!

Anyway, hopefully the Mark will get its new parts installed next weekend. I feel bad about letting her sit, but it was just too dang cold this weekend to do anything outside that wasn't absolutely necessary.
