What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

Yaa 81 them wheels come in 17x7.5 and 18x8 - not sure what one im choosing yet - 17s if i chose 55 series and 18s with the 50s - still trying to decide man im getting older now and my age is showing - just not enough side wall with them 18s for my taste and if i get what i want they are 28 or 29 inches tall so i might have to settle on the 17s --- might look like a truck when i get done lol

actually i was poking magnetico got the rims i was gonna get, last ones. listen, go with 40 series 18" and be done.i like the bigger look out back thats why i wanted the staggered set magnetico with 18x10 out back with lip looks like a deep dish. the diff in sidewall is just less than an inch. what was that a generic rim photo? thought you got them? and whats this nonsense about x pipe after the muffler? not on the mark. you could x then no muffler, man would that be loud. my car is LOUD. the headers go a long way in contributing to the noise, i love it but in no way is it inconspicuous if you are trying to blend in traffic or not get attention when leaving a stop anywhere no matter how light you are on gas.
yea if you are looking for sidewall you are pretty much stuck with 40 series in 17 or 18 unless you put truck tires on.
and its GR81.thanks! it was my regular email the gr81, but i took a state required vacation and when i got back someone had stolen it so i had to become the 1 and only....

Had to drive the LSC yesterday to get it inspected so I could keep my tags for another year. It's been sitting for about a week, but it hasn't dropped a millimeter and it started up like a charm. On the way to the inspection station, the front end didn't squeak at all, but the steering was a little stiff (like the ball joints may be binding?). And I hit a kind of rough dip in the road and the rear end almost jumped off into the ditch:eek: I really need to get those rear shocks installed. I think that may solve the extreme "sidestepping" I'm experiencing. And this weekend is a bust. It's gonna be raining and cold. I really need a carport:(

On a completely unrelated side note, I dropped my dad's '05 F-150 off at the muffler shop this morning to have one of the Cobra's old Magnaflow mufflers installed. When we got the cherry bombs installed, we kept the Magnaflows that came off the car. I gave one of them to dad and I'm going to put the other on my Exploder. Neither of us can afford to run true duals, so one cool sounding muffler will have to do:)

Installed FJO WBO2 and GlowShift Trans Temp Gauges.

Look's sharp DLF.

I installed my new plug's and boot's. Drives better but idles the same, was hoping for some improvement.

Did an oil change on the 95.
Was reminded of why I never let shops touch my car for stuff I can do
The oil filter was so tight I had to use a screwdriver to get it off I haven't had to do that in 13 years.

I wrestled w/ my rear subframe for a while today... got all the bushings out, ready for replacements..... then got my rear diff out. Going to get my 4.10/trac lock put in soon. Time to buy a speedcal

replaced the passenger seat track, fixed the driver side seat track. both my power seats are fully functional for the first time since i got the car 4 years ago. excellent.
then pegged the speedo. i didn't know i could get above 140.

How exactly did you service your seat tracks? Mine are on the brink of death

Worked on my stereo a little. It's supposed to be nice for the next couple day's so I should beable to get some thing's done.

replaced the passenger side one. i have had it apart like 3 times. cleaned the motors, cleaned the tracks, greased everything, no change. so i said screw it and bought the new pass. side track off ebay.

the driver side had a problem with the auto sliding thing. turned out to be a broken micro switch, so i just glued it back together.

This should help the bugs from getting trapped in the back

But we got it done along with replacing a couple coils that were bad causing my misfire issue, and new Mec V throughout the PS. He scoped it out on his work scanner and everything else is solid. Still going to buy new boot's n' plug's though.

She's good to go. :)

Did you go with Motorcraft coils or aftermarket? I'm not quite ready to buy another $45 coil, but I need to replace two more.

I'm not him, but I've had success with the cheapest COPs I could find on eBay (yes I have a Gen 1, they were for my 02 Crown Vic,) and a friend of mine has a few years of issue free runtime on Autozone Durlast COPs.

I expected all my COPs to die fairly soon after the first couple, so bought a set of 8, and replaced the 2 or 3 bad ones. The remaining 5 or 6 200+k mile 10 year old ones figured out that they were about to get sent to the landfill just like the first ones to go bad, and none of them have gone bad in the 30ish months since... It's kinda weird how parts NOT failing is somehow pissing me off as much as it would have if they had failed.

I bought a used set of good Motocraft coils 3 year's back as spares. The ones i've had to use so far(2 or 3) have served me well. Iirc I paid less then $10 each. If you can afford the cheaper new sets on ebay and the guy's give them the thumb's up, go for those. I know Thaywood bought a set and is pleased with them.

You could alway's install the rest of the new one's and use the 200k+ cop's as spares if it bothers you that much. :p

Well...let's see. Last night I went to trivia night at the pub and our team won. So I left $20 richer:) Unfortunately, my stepson called and said his Honda had a blowout and he was sitting in the Wal-Mart parking lot. When I got there, we found that the Honda has a good donut but no jack:rolleyes: Soooo...my $20 bucks got blown on buying a farging jack for the POS Honda. Also found out the reason he had the blowout was because the front end is horribly out of line and the inside edge of both front tires are worn down to the belts:eek: Therefore, he is now driving my Exploder again and I'm forced to drive the LSC for the forseeable future until we can get the Honda fixed. And by fixed, I mean it needs new upper and lower ball joints, front tires, and a 4-wheel alignment. When I drove the LSC to work today, I smelled oil all the way because of the dam oil filter adapter gasket spewing oil everywhere:( And the steering is getting tighter probably because the ball joints are binding up. And on top of that, I had a flat tire this morning on the way to work. Looks like this weekend, rain or shine, I'll be working on the car whether I want to or not. I can't win:mad:

That suck's. I'd also set aside 10-15 minutes this weekend to show the boy how too change a tire.

:D He changed it himself last night. But I did have to guide him through it. It's really funny. He took automotive tech in high school, yet he can't tell the difference between a radiator cap and a spark plug:rolleyes: He's completely automotive illiterate.

Fixed my window guide, reinstalled a couple int pieces I took out yesterday and found 94 cent's :)
