What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

Bought new pads for my car. The front outside ceramic part broke off. :-/ Some Performance Friction pads are waiting to go on now. :)
Bought a new u-joint too. precision is the name brand if I recall. I'll put that on when I do the 4.10 pumpkin swap. I'll do that once I get the 93 drive shaft. Also found some brake rotors to get Tuesday :wrench

how much for the rear sway bar ( do you know what shipping will be so I have a total? ) I am 40 mi. north of Manhattan zip 10598

brakes are finished! new pads at least. going to buy drilled and slotted rotors today.

Did 2/3 for the "Big 3" finally, only took me like a year to actually get to it. Threw my new subs in the dual 15" box and slid her in the trunk. Recarpeted the beauty panel too. Other then that I just washed it.

Just a quick couple. Not very scenic.

Even with a full tank and new speakers the rear is still .5" higher then the fronts. Thumbs up for the energy susp's rear prothane isolators. Height hasn't changed much in the 2 months they've been in. :D

your car looks really good with those 20 spokes, +1 for those

The new rotors should be here in about 2 weeks, what should I sand the pads with?

I buffed and polished the whole car except for the already polished aluminum hood, and the roof. Tomorrow is another day. :)

Just make sure to clean the rotors very very good. You don't want any machined oil left on them. No residue. As for sanding, I lightly do mine with 400 grit. If you have compressed air, blow away all dust from both the rotors and pads and you should never have to worry about any squeaking or glazing. A lot of people would never use sand paper on their pads and some even go as low as 200 grit but myself, I prefer to lightly knock them down with 400 grit.

Not sure what grit Sapper uses but do make sure to remove any and all oil residue from those new rotors. Brake cleaner and microfiber rag should do it.

Interior 6500K white LED conversion

I finally finished the interior LED conversion this evening after the rest of the lights came in. They are 6500K Super White. I had to wait until it was pitch black in the garage tonight before taking pics. The first 3 pics are with the upper spot lights turned on and the 4th pic is without the map lights or spot lights turned on and the last pic is the tag light. I had one light left.

The two rear side panels are 12 SMD's and the rest are 5 SMD's, tag also.

IMO, this beats the hell out of that old yellow look that I had going on. These pics aren't doing any justice at all compared to actually setting inside.

50 grit, just knock the shiney layer off ...I'm guessing your old pads where gone? You really should've waited and done it all at once so the bedding is proper

NoLimit- Looks good man, led lights do look amazing..don't forget the trunk light, I used a 6-led strip in mine and spliced it it into the other bulbs harness.

Man, I done the trunk almost two years ago. 60 blue led strip connected to the socket. Lift trunk and they come on just like that one little bulb would do.

Looking nice ....now you need some wheels

And bumpers ....

And side moldings

Man, don'tcha love LED's? Those lights look great!

Mine's having a little issue right now (besides the blasted blend door:D). The ignition is acting wierd. Once in a while (it did it twice this morning), I can turn the key to start the car and nothing happens. The lights and radio come on and all the electrinics work, but when it gets to the "start" position, everything dies and nothing happens. I can jiggle the key a little and try it again and it will work. It hasn't done this in a loooooooooooong time, but what worries me is that it did it twice this morning. Anyone else had this issue? And is it the lock cylinder?

There was no way I could have waited. One of the old pads were completely to the metal and roaring like a dinosaur going down the road. I also found out that one of my caliper brackets (the one that holds the pad) has frozen up and doesnt move. Its the part where the bolt goes into. So I'm going to pull a part today and getting a new one. I think that might have something to do with why that was the only pad work all the way down to the metal.

Those LED's do look good! My interior lights have not worked in YEARS. I have been inside that car all over the place. No idea why they don't work.

Yeah if you can't wait, then you can't wait-totally understandable, binding hardware will cause irregular pad wear ..you can spray wd-40 on the guide pin (the part the bolt goes in) and then stick it in a vise (or mount on car with no rotor) and use a propane torche to heat the bracket, use vise-grips and twist the pin in the bracket to break it loose

NoLimit... I'm thinking of smoking the wheels...would you be interested in them in that state, or did you want chrome ..we can discuss bumpers in private (don't want folks thinking I'm gonna start selling and shipping LSC bumpers)

Have you checked the fuse for them? It has to be something simple, I would think. I love the LED's. It made a huge difference from the old yellow look. I had a few in there but with the normal bulbs being over head and in the rear sides, they were taking away the effect. Now all are bright white and supposed to be good for up to 80,000 hours. Now I'm going to work on a new rear light bar for it. All I can do is take pics of it when it's done. Not soon!

I already have a white opalescent front bumper pending right now. I'm waiting on a shipping reply. I was holding out for one that I didn't have to pay $500 to have painted. I have side moldings in the closet that will need to be painted and while they are painting those, I'm just going to let them paint the rear chrome strip. "WE" might notice it but the average person would never know.

I need to see an example of smoked wheels.

I'm headed to the pull a apart today to get another one. It's nothin but a thang.

I have checked fuses and followed as much wire as possible. I checked any bulbs that might have been blown and to see inside the door if they were pinched or what have you. Nothing.

All I can do is say "no, I don't like them anymore" and when you get done with them, you might decide to keep them, which would be fine. I found the wheel on ebay with free shipping. If you want to smoke them, then go for it. Like I said, it will be a little while before I buy any wheels for it. It's possible that I might get the Conti wheels just for now because he's only asking $300 for them now. That'll hold me over for a while. I'm just sick of 10 spoke wheels but not in any rush to pay high dollar for new rims and tires.

What kind of condition are your 10 spokes in? If it ever comes to you selling them i might be interested in them based on their condition.
