What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

:D
The thought has crossed my mind. Just as a temporary band-aid until I get some good springs. It's just too much trouble to take them off and put slime in them if I'm gonna get under it and replace them anyway.

Do it, I double dog dare ya!

I would prob do this if I still had air and was in a pinch. I'd never tow anything though. :)

I might. I've got some good used springs coming, I just don't know when yet. Until then, if it gets too bad, I may do the slime. I've done it before with no problems. When we first got the '97 LSC, the front springs were leaking. I put about two ounces of slime in each spring and my wife drove it for almost a year with no problems at all. Then we got our taxes back and got new air shocks. We'll see. Of course if I do slime the bags, when the flaming starts I'll just blame you for peer pressuring me into it:D

You know you want to do it. Just think of all the hassle free miles you'll get out of them while saving a couple hundred buck's. And you'll beable to lower the back end again. It's the most logical choice. :steering

I was talking more about the moulding chrome..but I don't see why you couldn't do the rest also. I know it sounds like a pain in the ass, but I would remove the grille if you're going to paint it, to ensure you can get in all of the crevices and avoid getting paint everywhere.

It looks like you have a pretty nice grille to start with, to be honest I wouldn't mess with it, these things are nearly impossible to find in good condition with the original chrome on them..if you really want to paint a grille, just find one that has peeling or bad chrome and do it to that, keep your good one.

Just make sure if there is any chrome plating that is peeling off of any of your trim to strip as much of it off as possible, otherwise it will slowly keep peeling down the road and mess up your paint that you sprayed on.

Yeah i gotcha, i want more of the LSC look with just color matched moldings ( bumpers and side moldings ) The grille was replaced a few years ago after someone backed into the original one at my dads job. This will definately be a PITA to do but i think it looks good. I took off the chrome strips on my front bumper because one was almost all the way off for awhile so i said f* it and took both off. im leaving no chrome on the front bumper until i can possibly find black molding to put in its place and all around the car. im starting to like the way it looks without the chrome strips, looks cleaner. Next step after i find black molding and do that stuff is to get the LINCOLN and MARK VIII badges removed off the trunk, have a body shop fill in the holes and paint it. i have some plans for this car since i'm going to keep it for a long time

Paging ED HALL

Sorry bro. Somebody hadda say it. :D

Swapped out both UCAs as the ones in it were SHOT. Went from driving like a box of rocks to driving like a Lincoln. Ordered the UCAs from Arnott, was that a booboo? Recall somebody saying that their suspension stuff is good, just not their air springs/shocks.

Also put in a new fuel filter while I had the right front wheelwell all tore apart. My idle issues (which I was sure were due to a vacuum leak, but I couldn't find one) are now gone. AL purrs like a kitten. :D

Might be a 4 hour job for you old hands, but took me two days lol. Getting on that rear nut on the drivers side was a mofo, wound up doing a little customizing work. But I'm jazzed, the car drives great and I picked up a good dose of confidence to work on it. :D

All in good fun. I'd slime em too for a quick fix, it makes sense.

Guess I'll bask in my Retard status for a bit. :shifty:

Iirc the biggest problem w/ ed was that he trailered xxxxxlbs w/ slimed bags.

At the shop, we just love to break down those "slimed" tires - NOT; that green sh*t is EVERYWHERE!

Pics of the Mark Viii's in Sweden ;)

My beauty ;)
Yes front wheels are on backwards. But the tires are directional and they're mounted backwards on the rim and with a slipping transmission the wheels are low priority.
Stupid owner before me who can't get it right. Seems like many people get them wrong o_O

Trying to get my father to put the engine in his 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis :D
There are actually a few Mark Viii's in Sweden. I'd think maybe 20 of them or so. There's 4 out for sale in whole Sweden right now and that's quite a few when it's quite an odd car :)

Yeah. It's a 1999 STi imported from Japan. Something like that. My friend who owns it says it's a Japan version which is the most powerful etc.
I'm not that good at Japanese cars so I actually have no clue. :)
But it's pretty damn fast for being stock! That's for sure.

That is a lot, considering where you are

It is. I was suprised seeing so many Mark Viii's for sale.
Mustangs are ofcourse very popular here in Sweden. They're popular where ever you are :)
Belive it or not but american cars are very popular in Sweden.
For example we have Europes biggest car show with last year 12,500 american cars attending it from all over the world. But most of them from Sweden ofcourse.

Swedish, whats that purplish car there?

Anyways, my short story of what I did: New cross drilled and slotted rotors on the Mark. A/c fully charged. Painted some things.

Long story, pulled wheels and rotors off, cleaned inside and behind everything I could while I was in there. Undercoated all that I wanted in the wheel wells, painted black what I wanted under there as well. Cleaned gunk off of ball joints, upper control arms, and re greased them. Got rid of the texture and smoothed and paint on the other caliper bracket that was frozen on pass. side front. Found out how difficult it was to reconnect the emergency brake cables out back. And found out my pads are not making full contact on the rotors. (thanks michael btw) ;)
Added freon to my a/c and now its cold enough to leave ice sickles on your nose.

Usaiah: It's my fathers 1988 T-bird with 347", T-56, 9" rear and so on. Fun little toy :)
It is actually purple, it's a Mazda color. Looks like it's from a porno magazine (almost) :D

nice color! you're the first person I've seen post on here recently with a willow green mark, mine looked exactly like yours when it rolled off the assembly line with the painted 10 spokes..then the original owner opted for dealer installed chrome 20 spokes. what year is yours? 95 or 96?

ordered personalized tags, and finally drove it after 6 months of garage time. then when i backed it into the garage it blew a brakeline  at least i was home and stopped when it let go, so i ran 2 new rear lines yesterday :D
