What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

Compressor mount

Put new air suspension compressor mounts on today. Still loud. Rats. But on the good side, for some reason my seat is now working in all directions. Maybe from disconnecting the battery.

Tryin to get at those torx bolts made me wonder why they named them after Peter on the Monkees. They weren't funny. He was.

(And yes, I know his name was Tork, but made me think of it)

my 97 was converted before i bought it. i want to keep the airride on this oneand maybe add the adjustable module like you had, i can bring this one home yet. i just put a deposit on it and will pay it off in 30 days. i have a set of 4.10;s for it allready

New hood struts, oil sender for autometer oil pressure gauge, and a glitch ballast. In love with the car once more again.

took out a working, noisy, alt w/ 174k; put in a shiny new DB Elec alt w/ no miles on it...easy peasy

I wonder if I should keep the old one and a 1/2'' drive torque in the trunk for a couple of weeks?

I've been running a db for almost 2 years now. My old one has been in the trunk ever since.

No matter how expensive, no alternator with the exception of a new mc unit can be trusted in these cars. ;)

front suspension

With me assisting and incessant questions, Jay Richmond, replaced the air shock gen 2)...i won't dare call it a strut again on lvc;-), uca, lca and sway bar link on the p side. We, or maybe just little old me, will do the d side in a few days. We took a look at the rear shocks underside/topside and the grommets look fine. TBC... She drives much smoother already. I still have a noisy drive shaft (?) ker chunk noise that is bother some. Perhaps the driveshaft/differential u joint needs replaced. Will be looking into that. Great help here on the forum :D.

looking at another mark8 front comes up but not the back when air ride is on?

Your rear springs are leaking. If they've leaked all the way down, they will not pump back up without help. When my rear springs started leaking and it was sitting on the ground in the morning, I would have to either jack the rear end up high enough to close the dryrot cracks or use my back and literally grab the fender and lift the rear end up as the rear springs pumped up until the cracks closed and the spring could fill. It was a PITA. If you listen closely at the rear wheel, you will be able to hear a hiss as the spring tries to inflate. When it starts hissing, it will not inflate any further. That's when it needs a little help. Anyhoo, get some new rear springs.:)

Our firs real snow this year 13-15"
The mark would like some blizzacks now but she drives just fine by all the fwd cars in the ditch
Pic is this morning

...she drives just fine by all the fwd cars in the ditch...

 Love that!!!

One of my favorite stories to tell is how I used my carappy old wore out '94 Exploder 4x4 to pull a brand new AWD Honda Pilot out of a ditch in the snow back in '09 or so:D FWD is for sissies!! I'm :lol:ing at the "superior" traction of wrong-wheel-drive...

..time will tell whether or not I go a 'deal' for $700....first surprise is: looks like there must be an oil leak, hopefully minor if there is such a thing
.... need to replace rear window weather stripping, it's almost 75% broken off, gone away...more tbd
...still on air and seemingly holds good
---pretty sure the ext paint color is Ivory Metallic 'HA'...in good to VG cond

It's 40 degrees and raining but I'm still gonna try to switch out that coil and see if it helps the car run any better. I want my car back on the road dammit!

I changed my oil filter adapter gasket today on the LSC; it's not super tough on these cars as I've had it on other 4.6L Fords. I went through the fender well & used a 3/8" ratchet with a long extension and 10mm socket to get the top two bolts out, then a swivel on the end with the socket to get the middle bolt. The last bolt has to be gotten from under the car and I used a 3/8" ratchet, swivel, and 10mm socket to remove it.

I noticed the oil filter was a bit loose when I started and thought that might be where the oil has been coming from, but since I had already started this project, I finished it. The old gasket didn't look too bad, here is a pic of it:
