Is there a recommended wheel lug thread chaser? I have two that i kinda have to muscle nuts onto butimpossible to tighten all the way

replaced the radiator in the 98, try to figure out if i can manage the oil pan gasket swap
on the 97?

Yeah TRW/MOOG I swear are the same thing now or something? Problem is trying to explain this to a salesman that can't see the difference between the Duralast and TRW :shifty:
fwiw, I called 5 Star Ford...they quoted >$1,100.00 for upper and lower control arms, both sides, parts only....SRB's are about $11 each (22/pair)

received two heavy boxes of parts in the mail
---
adjusted my headlight angles and got the 1/4'' drive socket stuck/jammed against the main frame while turning the Lt side lateral axis adjuster...pita
---
washed it, at 9:30 at night! :D

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay?

$0 as I traded him a set of 17" Rota Impact rims I've had sitting around for years. Got sick of the CL game of people not showing up so I traded the rims for Powder Coating my rims and the valve covers.

They are a bit dusty so you cant see it's a Candy Blue.

what parts did u get?
coils and shocks from Sapper....1.5'' lowered Eibachs and Tokico Illuminas..my dining room is becoming a parts closet: used grille, used suspension, front 13'' rotors, BW pads...too many projects not enough time

Not exactly Mark VIII related, but if it's not one thing it's ten others...

The fuel pump died on the future ex's Cobra yesterday. She was driving to pick up the kids and the car just died and she coasted it off the side of the road. Of course she called me to come to the rescue  Thank God for towing insurance. The way she described it to me on the phone it sounded like the alternator. But when I got there, the engine would turn over like crazy but it just wouldn't run. I thought crank position sensor at first because I could hear the fuel pump priming in the tank. But since it died while she was driving, I don't think (could be wrong) that it was the CPS. I tried priming the pump 5 or 6 times and then trying to start it and it would fire and run for a couple of seconds and then die. So yep, I'm 99.9% sure it's the fuel pump. Gotta order one and install it. Bad thing is she had just filled up the tank :( That's gonna be fun. But at least the tank is under the trunk and not the back seat. Makes things much easier.

I just did this on my Mark, with a full tank- and somebody mentioned it seems to happen that way often
--I gotta great deal on a Bosch from a place called E-Herko, they're in Miami....$160 delivered per ebay...

You heard the pump priming... why are you steering away from the CPS? Wiggle the connector around and see what happens. I'm just not thinking the fuel pump went bad and you're hearing it prime up. Rent a fuel pressure gauge and check it.

Sounds like a future exs next husbands problem.. or I'd charge her... at least make her cook you dinner

Check fuel pressure before you drop the tank.. could be filter clogged

I didn't have time to check everything out yesterday. I've still got the CPS on my mind. I will check it this afternoon. The reason I think it is the fuel pump is because the exact same thing happened to my Explorer last summer. It literally died while driving down the road. I could hear the FP priming when the key was turned but it wouldn't fire. If I turned the key several times and tried to crank it, it would fire up for a couple of seconds and then die. It was basically burning what little fuel was under pressure in the lines. The Cobra is doing exactly the same thing. I checked and cleaned all the sensors and spark plug wires and installed a new fuel filter to no avail. Finally installed a fuel pump and she fired right up and has been running great ever since. I can turn the key several times and prime the pump on the Cobra and the engine will fire up for a second or two and then die. It "sounds" like a fuel pump issue. But I'm not completely sure. I figured if the CPS was malfunctioning, it wouldn't even try to fire up at all.

Oh yeah, on top of that, the top edge of the rear window on the convertible top has come unglued. The top has separated from the glass at the top edge and it's been raining into the car. My future ex hadn't even noticed. So I've got to fix that too. And I have no idea how to do it. I'm thinking duct tape :D

I gotta agree, my first thought was: I fix cars for dates, not divorces..but everyone needs a way to get around I guess

Yeah. I'm getting a lot of that. People tell me I'm just too damn nice. I'm letting here live in my damn house for cryin' out loud! But yes, when everything's final, it won't be my problem anymore. And her boyfriend don't know his ass from a hole in the ground when it coms to cars. But I've got to make sure she's got a way to get to work so she can keep paying my power bill and making that car payment :D And I am going to install a new fuel filter before I do anything else.

Tell her the cobras junk, you will buy her a $500 runner and so she doesn't have to deal with a bad car you will take it in the divorce.

When my ex wife kicked me out and took the house I took damn near everything inside and mad her sleep on the floor. Then a few weeks latter she calls asking for help with the house payment, I told her I can't because I just put a new stereo system in my car.

I got lucky on that one. I'm keeping my house because it was already mine before we got married. I, being the nice guy that I am, have graciously allowed her to stay there temporarily until she can find a place to move to. I'm still making my house payment but she's paying all the utilities while she is there and she's making her car payment.

That's not a bad idea :D

I used the Mark, which has a trailer hitch, to move my my bimmer 850i to a position off the end of the driveway so that my wife can now back out w/o having to back all the way down the driveway in her van...I did this to prevent divorce;-) (lol). My wife was not enamored w the fact that I sold a 2002 VW Jetta with 115K miles and kept my Daddy's Lincoln with 196K miles on it...hell, the lincoln is lot more fun to drive than the Jetta was...In June of last year abt 3 months after Dad died I told myself I should do the completely sane and rational thing, sell both the Jetta and the Mark VIII and buy a low mileage/high mpg car about two yrs old...well I haven't regretted my decision to keep the Mark...I haven't tallied all my invoices since I became the owner of the Mark either! I like the idea of keeping this car and spending money on it...I can't say what my Dad would think now, but I am guessing he is smiling down at me knowing that I am using a bit of his hard earned money to keep it running and "fixin" her up! I doubt that I will ever sell that car...too much sentiment in it for me!

Ordered new front tie rods, fuel, air filters and new set of plugwires from RockAuto today and Jay Richmond and I will probably meet up again soon to replace the rear control arm bushings. Thanks for helping me out with this project!

No problem Scott, I'm glad I could help out!

Btw, you may want to get some spark plugs too, if you haven't yet. :)
Autolite AP104's are what's recommended. $2.18 each at RockAuto.
