Drove by my Mark that I sold this year to see if the new owner had put the Starter in it that I told him to.

Obviously not

how much are they charging for non-diagnostic head-scratchin these days?

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm going to call them today and ask about that. She's paying so it really doesn't matter much to me. But if they can't figure out the problem, then she shouldn't have to pay for them to just say they don't know what's wrong.

Yeah seriously? I would deff say I ain't paying for what you cant figure out or the time it took your certified guys to do it.

Same here. And this is a Ford dealership. These guys are supposed to have the equipment to diagnose pretty much anything. So what the heck? This car is driving everybody nuts. They're saying it's getting fuel but no fire. They said they had narrowed it down to something in the ignition system but they don't know what's causing it. The ex said that when she gets it back she's gonna sell it. I'll believe it when I see it.

about to go pick up a 97. belongs to relative. power steering went out, sideswiped a car. both wheels point outward at the same time.
insurance ruled it a total loss. gonna figure out what happened and put the car back together.

its a shame though. was a $3k or better car. clean body, 50k miles. no lasagna. looks like insurance is gonna pay out around 3600.

pics to come later. possibly a rebuild thread too.

That right there is pretty horrible.

On a much more horrible note, got a call from the stealership today and they said the PCM is bad on the Cobra and they were going to order one and it was going to cost between $500 and $800 bicks  After uttering several obscenities at him I told him that he better not order a damn thing without my authorization and that price was fvcking stupid! Now I'm even more pissed. I'm gonna check fleabay for a PCM and fix the damn thing myself before I (edit: oops...forgot...my future ex is paying for it) pay that kind of money. Dammit dammit dammit dammit..........

Kinda like when I got my first Mark VIII back in '04. Took it for alignment and they said UCA was bad so I told them to replace it. Charged me $120 some odd bucks for the new upper not including installation or anything

i talked to the owner of the body shop. he said he would buy a replacement for us.

Lucky you got a body shop that would do that. I just picked up a Convertible LT1 Vette from a body shop that been there for close to 18 years. Half reason I got the car is it had a set of near 3 grand 3 piece rims with the car.

They were split apart so the centers could be sand blasted and the car owner got new hoops for it years ago. I became owner of car go to pick it up and Hmmm the rim centers grew legs and walked away :Bang

this body shop is supposed to be the best in the area. that's why i was so pissed the battery was gone. replaced with some POS napa thing installed wrong.

Ditto, I've known this body shop for 20 years and close friend managed it for 19 of em. He split and the place went down hill fast.

when all else fails, blame the PCM? problem is, if you do the swap yourself, and it still doesn't start, you're back to nowheresville

The White One has been on stands for a long time now;I'm still waiting on the front end suspension parts, so today I will again do nothing to my Mark VIII; great way to spend my day off

get underthere and clean it up while you're waiting

there's stuff I can do, remove stab bar bushings and/or try to fix ps line leak

I had a thought yesterday. With those Raspberry Pi computers that can be had for cheap, I was thinking of somehow utilizing that to be my own "ASHAM" computer. I'd have to get used to programming on a non-microsoft interface and figure out how to send the signals to the solenoids / pump since this board has no parallel/serial ports. hhhmmmmm

Got a call from the stealership for the Cobra today. Total cost of parts and labor for the PCM and diagnostic is gonna be $565 give or take. Not as bad as I thought, but still a lot. But it'll be back on the road by this afternoon. Now when it will get paid for is another question...

Update: Got another call. They said the car is running but it won't idle. It will crank and start and run fine but when you let off the gas it cuts off. Sounds like the IAC. They're going to put one of those on and see what happens. I'm hating that car more and more. The whole time we've owned it it's run like a sewing machine. Never had a problem with the engine at all. Nothing. Now it's like everything just died all at once. I just don't get it.
