nothing today, when I came home from work tonight there was a box on my front porch- I thought to myself: Finally! Sapperfire's parts showed up 3 weeks after he claimed to have sent them. Now I can finish my front end work!
I went to pick up the box and it weighed about 1 pound and said 'Air Filters' on the side... it is in fact the Honeywell HEPA air filters I bought on the auction site about 3 days ago...no damn parts
---
sad reality is, it looks like I've been ripped off by someone on here to the tune of about $300 and now I get to go spend that money AGAIN so i can put my car back together

Well the Cobra is still in the shop and the future ex wife has totaled my damn Lincoln!!!!! It wasn't her fault some dumbass kid T boned her but I'm still pissed!!!!!! They're going to total it the whole left side is destroyed. I really don't see how things can get any freaking worse.

WTH? Geez if it wasn't for bad luck you would have no luck at all :Bang

Man sorry to hear that. It seems like your ex-wife has a way of finding trouble with cars.

Are you gonna buy your car back? If so and if you don't plan on fixing it, how is the right front fender. I know you had clearcoat issues with your car. If it's in good condition (no clearcoat issues, fading or chipping) PM me the price.

That sucks. Look on the bright side though, you might be able to get another gen2 with half the mileage with the ins check. :)

Was she the only occupant?

Check your PM's Chris.

Checking right now. :)

No kidding. I must have done something really bad in a former life and karma is biting me in the butt real bad for it :D

The vultures are circling  I don't know yet what I'm gonna do. The adjuster hasn't come out to look at it. It depends on what they're going to do. I have full coverage and because the other driver was at fault, his insurance should have to pay for it. If they'll do it, I'd rather have it fixed. But if they total it, they probably won't give me but $2500 at the most and once I buy the car back I won't have enough left to buy another car so I'll be up $h!t creek without pi$$ to break my way...I'm just so far beyond frustrated it's not even funny.

With a totaled car you can negotiate what the car is worth and how much a buy back should be.
I've paid between $50 and $3000 to buy back cars.
If you do try and negotiate don't go unarmed you need proof of why its worth what you say it is.

Hopefully they'll give me a decent amount of money for it so I can buy it back as a parts car "if" I can get another Mark. Those chrome 10 spokes with BRAND NEW TIRES would look real good on the Cougie :D

Edit:

My Poor Mark VIII.jpg :( I almost cried when I saw it.

I got a white door and fender to fix that, buy it back, fix it and drive it till you can find another one.

I'm still crossing my fingers they'll fix it. But with that damage, I doubt it. KBB has the car listed at $3525 (Excellent) and $3175 (Good). So they may give me $3000 or so for it becasue I think mine is in better than "good" condition, but definitely not "excellent". And depending on how much it costs to buy it back, I may not be able to afford to buy parts to fix it, much less another car...:(

If all the damage is contained to the outside panels and the suspension (And everything important behind panels) is still good I'd buy it back for <500 and drive it till it dies, at which point i'd part whats left of it.

Just knock the dents outward as best you can. :)

I'm thinking a new front fender and a new door will pretty much get it back on the road. The suspension doesn't seem to be damaged. However, there is apparently something wrong with the fuel system. It must have damaged a line or something because the wife said it had 1/2 a tank of gas in it when she wrecked but when we tried to start it, it wouldn't run and the gas gauge was sitting on E. Then we put a couple of gallons of gas in and it started up and ran. So it must have leaked all the gas out somewhere. But I think it won't be more than $1500 to fix it (hopefully). I'm just so beyond upset, frustrated and angry right now, there's just no way to describe it.

for what its worth, our insurance company just totalled my aunt's car and should pay out just over $4k. we bought the car back for $475 and i'm putting it back together.
has similar damage as yours.
but like they said, get a door and a fender and continue to rock that thing.

The intertia switch didn't "flip"? That's what I thought the problem was at first until you stated that it started once you put a couple gallons in. I've had the intertia switch trip from a 2l bottle of soda in the trunk on a light right turn.

If it would cost 1500 to get it into shape I'd just pitch it or buy it back very very cheaply if you think there's money somewhere in it. I sure hope it would've triggered in this case.

My heart sank when I saw the picture. :( I definitely would have cried and probably wouldn't have cared whose fault it was. Glad she wasn't hurt, but I'd have been pretty violent about it. :Bang  argue2 Pics like this really break my heart. I don't even like looking for parts on wrecked cars.

Now that I look at the picture again, you were probably on to big of a slant and all the remaining gas went to one side of the tank. The couple extra gallons raised the height enough for the fp to suck it up.

That sounds awesome. $4k would be perfect. But I probably won't be that lucky. :(

Inertia switch was my first thought too. But I think maybe she was looking at the gauge wrong or something. And it was on a very steep grade. When we got it home and off the rollback it fired up and ran fine.

Oh my heart sank too. And then my blood pressure rose :D I was extremely angry and I'm still in shock over it. I love that car. I didn't fus too much because it was clearly not her fault but I almost had words with the 17 year old boy's girlfriend's mother when she told me that his dad would give me $1500 if I didn't file it on my insurance  Can you believe that??? She just didn't want the kid to get any points on his insurance. But it didn't matter because he got a ticket with 5 or 6 different citations. So he's screwed anyway. :D

Yeah. That's pretty much what I came up with after we got it home.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. Problem is, the adjuster is coming tomorrow and I have to work. I'm going to try and tell her what she needs to tell them but I also told her to have the adjuster to call me at work so I can speak with him. I wanted to take off but I'm not going to be able to. Dammit.

Was she the only occupant?

Yes she was. She was actually on her way to pick the kids up when this happened.

Correct me if im wrong but dont the fuel lines run along the drivers side under the car, right at the back of the fender and could have crushed when the car popped the curb in the picture.

I'm thinking the same thing. There is definitely something not right. She swears there was a half a tank of gas in the car when it happened. Now it's empty.
