What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

I shampooed and scrubbed the hell out of the carpets. It looks great now. Also, cleaned and conditioned the leather. Finally, I restored the headlights. I can see!!! I am very impressed with the Turtle Wax Headlight Restore kit. Only $8 and change. Great product.

edit: oh, and I fix the left corner chrome trim. wasn't attached very well, as i got the light, weatherstrip, and trim from 3 different places. now it looks like it should. I'm hoping to have time to give it a clay bar treatment this weekend.

Started driving the '96 again yesterday. Haven't had it on the road for a while. It still needs some work. It's sluggish and when the A/C is on it feels like I'm driving with the parking brake down. Then when I cut it off, the power comes back on again. But the A/C blows cold as heck. Also got a horrible squeal from under the hood. I just replaced the serpentine belt before I parked it and the squeal was gone then. Also replaced both idler and tensioner pulleys. Yet it sounds like a pulley. That would suck. Anyway, filled 'er up with 93 octane at BP and put some seafoam in the tank. Hopefully that'll clear up some of the rough idle and sluggishness. But it still needs a TPS and IAC. I'll get to that eventually.

Took her to the body shop going to get those stupid seams down by the rocker panel taken out. Cleaned the :q:q:q:q out of the seats

what did you use to keep that trim down? I have yet to find something good enough to keep my drivers side trim down!!! Like you said, between the light the strip and the trim....I'm getting frustrated!!!

I got the window motor fixed and had them get some of the door panel that was coming up glued down while they had it off ;) now if she would stay outta my purse so I could get her painted!

Rich, knowing you, the carcass they took was picked over well, Im sure it lives on in many many other Marks across the country!

just make sure the mating surfaces are clean. i used an old strut i had laying around to lean it against the trim to hold it in place while the adhesive dried. looks great. good luck.

Well it happens to be the same intrior and body color as my new 93 so many parts went to the shelf.

But some are on a project that I'm working on ... and some did go to others.

Used it as a parts fetcher to grab Laser a new Alternator and some crossover tube o-rings
Alternator no fun with Blower snout in the way!!

Changed an ALT on my car on the side of I-35 with Sapperfires help. Thanks again mang.

Also tuned the trans and really love the car more now.

Performed an oil change with Mobil1 and Motorcraft filter. Bought another idler pully for the tensioner I am about to install. Washed the car then splattered it with bugs cause I was pissed and driving too fast after my boss said this will be my last week. Did some minor trans tune tweeking too.

Put an air filter on my '96 and guess what? That cured my rough idle problem as well as the bogging when the a/c is on. I must have had a blonde moment. It should have been obvious that the poor engine was choking to death! Problem is, I needed a filter for the '97 LSC too, but AutoZone only had one and they said they could order another and it would be here in a week!?!?! I checked several AZ and Advance stores in several surrounding towns with no luck. Does anyone know of a filter that will interchange with the Mark VIII?

K&N cone in a cheese box

I've FINALLY replaced the center brake lights bulbS, both were burned out when I got the car a year ago....and Laser noticed that my inner tail running lights were also burned out..so I replaced those too

Meh. I guess I'll wait till Tuesday for the AZ truck to get here with another filter. I just wonder why no parts stores keep those filters in stock. Anyway, washed both the '96 and '97 yesterday. They look so much better when they're clean.:)

Well I finally got the AC system fixed, had a bad high side port failure.. couldnt find one locally so it was off to the bone yard, all the motors in the bone yard were 6 cyl or 5.0 except for this windstar, I was able to remove the correct valve and use it in my car, I then used a AC vaccum to draw on the system and check for leaks, none found then recharged it! let me tell you, its well worth it, Ice cold AC now even with the 90+ temps we are experiancing... oh and I had to disconnect all the lines and blew them out with 90PSI of air to evacuate the system before the vaccum, so there was no residue left in the system.

rich missed the door handle on the right side and the rear quarter windows. looked like the driver side handle was broke. should have waited for everyone to have a go at the carcass. but the neighbors where glad to see it go. see ya soon jd

Im with JD rich- shoulda snagged the glass!!!!

Oh NO BUSTER!!! stupid garage....! Oh and welcome to LVC!

I drove the 95 and no longer have to manually lower and raise the drivers side window ;) after a 4.4 mile run all uphill in 87temps to pick her up

Well I have a set of rear quarter windows still so I didn't need them ... I know I was thinking about that door handle ... when it was being pull away I said $hit oops missed something.

We've been having so much rain here the last few days ... it was hard getting out to take things off ... but I took off everything that I wanted and needed ...

I bought a can of Ozium for it...wow that stuff is a MUST for a smoker
ridin with my buddy today and he introduced me to it, it totally freshens the air with 1 tiny spray, the entire cabin of the car becomes absoluly fresh..it's amazing

Isnt that stuff amazing? Discovered it when I lived in a condo in Maui that didnt allow any kind of smoking and had a nosey landlord. Two spritz and the place was smoke free. :)
