What is that wire? Do the second gen's have a light in the door handle pocket?

::sigh::

Drove it, and at an intersection that has 2 right turn lanes, used the left one.

The driver in the far right turn lane was headed toward the far left lane, and I couldn't get out of her way.

So do I go and plop down 50 bucks and pull the one from the 98 base in the lot (I think it has damage, but just to the surface, no dents) in anticipation of them not finding one, or will they fix this one, or will they try to re-skin it? The car in the you pull it place will only be there a few more days, if it is still there.

Will a door fit in the trunk of a Mark VIII?

Some of it will. Smaller end first and bring some string to tie down the lid. Oh, and a blanket or two to wrap it up in.

I accomplished nothing on my to do list. Was far to lazy yesterday and today was spent running around. Hope to get it done before the snow falls.

Today I drained my fuel tank! Well maybe not drained but rathered pumped it empty. Since I hqve a system system system back, I was able to hot wire to the inertia switch in the trunk. There were only two wires, one on the ends and one in the middle. The middle one went to the pump. Ned I ran a hose from the fuel filter to the filler neck on my van nd waited.... heck, I am still available waiting but I had time to write this up real quick. I hope someone else can make use of it.

Who other than Ford/Lincoln would put two same color and pin identical connectors in one place, that when connected incorrectly cause fuses to blow.

Drivers door. I unhooked the window switch so I could remove the door handle, it is a brown connector (with a water shield, I now know). I also unhooked another brown connector that is attached to the door.

If you get these hooked up wrong, you blow the fuse for the DDM (so no remote entry, no door locks, and the interior light never goes off, but...) and the interior lights.

I have only practiced on an old Mark VIII part that is ABS, but I think I will be able to straighten out my interior over the next few months.

I have already tried solvent welding on my 89 Cougar, and it didn't go as well as I had hoped it would. I have also tried with a heat gun and a butane torch with soldering iron type ends, I think this will work much better. I have 2 door cups, ashtray lid, seat trim, various smaller screw covers, the vent/dash cover, and whatever else gets broken when I take off the passenger door panel.

They had 2 out, both boxes looked like they fell out of a truck. I checked each one and no problems, but the lady gave me an additional 20% off as an open box.

For parts that I will see, I am trying to use pieces of the same color same material from another car, I have these old patches for making textures that I used waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day repairing vinyl seats.

Okay. Really quick question: How many speed sensors does the 4R70W have? I'm still getting the code for output shaft speed sensor out of range on my '97 T-Bird. I replaced a sensor on the transmission when I first got it but it didn't help. It was not the sensor for the speedometer, but the one just in front of the speedo sensor. I'm assuming that was the input shaft speed sensor(?). Does the transmission have a speed sensor on the tail shaft?

VSS (on tailshaft, with teeth that mesh with output shaft)
OSS (in main body of transmission, a magnetic coil type sensor)

Only newer drive by wire cars with 4r7xE have a TSS.

From the time I started my mark today till the time I shut it off (approximately 10 miles) the air bag light was flashing. After looking closer It looked like it was flashing a code.
Blinks three times then a short pause, blinks five times then a long pause then repeats.
When I shut it off and restarted it was gone (no lights present). Does anyone know what this code means? Or was it a code?

Thank's, I bookmarked that page.
I also turned on my brights the other night and the low beams stayed on also. I shut them off and tried it again and both highs/lows were on at the same time again. I don't have the headlight mod. I have since tried it again and can't duplicate it. Turn on my brights and the lows go off...Weird

Inspected the under carrage

And discovered the Mark I picked up Wednesday has been de-bagged and coiled. Saved me from doing it but the coils there are rusty as heck. State inspection is tomorrow. Suspension parts fail...give me a good excuse to buy all new suspension components and drop her down. More to come....

replace the headlight switch before it melts on you.
first gens are bad about that.

LED grille lights. I put white ones in this time because the cops said I couldn't have the blue ones. 10710605_678949688868096_3592419647871830707_n.jpg10712864_678950475534684_8876829426499280669_n.jpg10418853_678950128868052_7125782697165725921_n.jpg

Also, I'm going to put my silver painted 10-spokes on the T-Bird this weekend. But I need one center cap. Anybody got a good center cap for the painted 10-spokes? Drop me a PM. Thanks!!!!!!

I have one but why would you take off chrome wheels and put on painted 10 spokes?

Mostly because I like the Mark VIII 10-spoke design better than the 'Bird's fanblades. Also, the fanblades are 15" with 215/70R15 razor tires. I think the 16" wheels will look better with a set of 245/50R16 tires. They'll fill in the fenderwells much better and make the car handle better as well. I'm also considering the idea of chroming the 10-spokes with chrome vinyl wrap as an experiment.

put in 6 qts of 10w-30 and a new MC filter on the white one, less knock than when I used 5w-20

2/3 of the winter maintenance got done while we have a couple 60+ degree days here. I've been putting all of this off the last 2-3 weeks cause we always get a nice warm weekend in October. Lucky for me it came. Anyways... Oil change, lube, coated some under body parts, interior detail/winter mats, silicone treatment on seals/doors/window channels/locks, front winter wheels and have kept the battery on the charger/maintainer.

Tomorrow I mess with the rear half and wash it, should be an easier day.
