Whats the highest MPH reached in your LS?

Had mine up to 125 once, just to see how it does at that speed. Wasn't too bad. Unfortunately I just don't feel it with this car. I like the feel of my Silverado at 125 better than the LS.

We are number one, your graphic is correct.

America's Number One

This came up in class today. Our professor showed us a similar chart and said that we're like the Patriots or the Yankees, this is why everyone hates us, it's because we're kicking everybody's asses. I was about to start a USA chant but opted not too. Took me 5 years to get to my favorite class and I wish every class was taught like this.

G-Rell: I was going to pull out the "cool story bro" but I found that lying in my photobucket lol.

Where did you pull that off?

Theres a country road nearby where i live, that has a very slight incline, and both sides is farm fields (no trees) so you can see WAAAY ahead of yourself if there animals or cars.
I went at 1 AM, high beams on. (i removed my rev limiter with my Xcal) and once i hit about 235 Km/h (146 Mph) i let off the throttle cuz the Stop sign was coming up fast at that speed and i chickened out to push it further.

Well, i played it safer.. i wanted to hit 240kp/h (150 mph) But i don't think id make the stop after... And that could get ugly real fast =p

Im with T-money. Couldn't get past 133 but you could definitely tell she could do way more by the way the speed was climbing and all of sudden stopped. Proof:

Top Speeds

A few comments---
First, you may find it of interest to go through 'Land Speed LS' in the HP section.

I hold the Maxton/ECTA National Record in E/F CC with my '02 Sport. That equates to 0-140.106 in a measured mile. Please note that that isn't top speed, but top speed from a standing start in one mile. I've been to about 155 on a deserted section of multi-lane. On that occasion, I didn't have the spray turned on, but did have the belly-pan in place. There was a little more possible, but I was about to run out of road!

I run Michelin Pilot Sport 'Z' rated tires.

When I finally get the new engine finished, including the turbos, the speeds will jump up considerably. The new class---E/BF CC stands at present at about 185 or so in the mile.

lol i didn't make it. And i was just having fun teasing my American neighbors a bit. Theres a few Americans on here who tease us Canadians, and quiet frankly we deserve to be teased for our dumb traditions.

Like Americans have SWAT and serious police. Canadians, we STILL have Mountain police riding horses.. in Toronto.. yup... thats our swat... cowboy wannabes on horses..

The first gen sport didn't have a limiter as the car was destined for Europe and the Autobahn. When export to Europe was nixed there was no need for 100+ speeds so the limiter was added to the sport equipped LSes.

Tire rating is also a factor.

I've had my V6 to 138ish before I ran out of room. The car felt very stable at that speed. It seemed to hunker down to the road.

The cop said I was doing 108. Almost gave me a certified print-out too!

Not sure how I talked my way out of that one. That's a mandatory "Show up in court" ticket for wreckless driving.

I always seem to run out of road way-before I run out of car. Fastest i've been was 115 or so before traffic or a turn got in the way.

I don't trust tires enough to drive that fast. I've had mine to 105ish once.

+1

Had a rear tire blow out going 80mph and it wasn't fun.

I've cranked her up to 100 once, but other than that I usually don't go any faster than 80.

I usually cruise at 75 (don't like tickets and have been clean for over 10 years).

I have had it up to 110 once or twice on the interstate, I hit 100 now and then when passing is on two laners which is close to top speed without shifting to fourth (I generally use third as my passing gear).

'03 V6
hit between 130-135 once. Ride was extremely smooth.

hit 85-90 almost daily. handles very well at these speeds.

Yes the top speed changes with the year. And be aware just because you find some random number from Forbes you are not correct. The numbers below are from a Ford factory LS Engineer. Posted on the Lincoln Luxury Sport Owner's Club which costs $20/year.

All non-sport Gen1 and all Gen2 were electronically limited to 135 mph, and H-rated tires were one of the reasons. Which is weird because H rated tires are only good for 130 mph!

The unlimited Gen1 V8 (sport optioned) could hit 142-147 mph depending on conditions. This was the only LS without a speed limiter.

The V-6 cars had even lower limits depending on where they were sold. The lowest I have heard about is 118 mph.

Using the SCT you can remove the limiter.

My LS is slow.. I have no reason to do over 90-95... I don't see why people attempt to race these cars..

My mustang on the other hand...

I'm not racing, just seeing what she can do. The same can be said about a lot of Mustangs out there as well.
