I was on a thread earlier today & someone posted "i wonder, do people think were nuts for loving this cars so much?" So I figured I'd start a thread where we can all let each other know why we love owning/driving these cars?

As for me? One thing stands out, it's DIFERRENT! It's not a souped up Mustang, 350z, G-35, Trans-Am, RX-7 or a Camaro & it certainly isn't a 4 banger Civic, Accord, Sentra either. EVERYONE has those cars. Why have what everyone has? We stand out with these Lincolns. No one expects speed out of a Lincoln so the word COBRA coming out of my mouth when I talk about my car gives people this reaction:eek: ...
Some people pull up next to the car & look at the emblem & smile while pointing. They figure it's another idiot that has found his way into obtaining a Cobra logo for a car that has nothing to do with it, then when the light hits green I floor it... just a bit. I LOVE THAT FEELING! Not only that, guys, it's a LINCOLN! It's a true modern hotrod Lincoln, the last one of it's kind. I drive this car because I like to be diferrent, I don't follow the pack, I love having my own identity! THAT'S WHY I DRIVE MY MARK VIII!:steering

Why do we love owning these Mark VIII's?
its everything about the car how else can I say it I have always loved them

I remember seeing these cars at the local ford dealership when i first got my license in the spring of 1993. Loved them back then still do now. I think is a good Replacement car for my old 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix that was totaled after a tree fell on it during a tropical storm. Stupid tree:mad:

When i first seen it fell in love with the car and the fact it had 45000 miles on it and absolutely no rust i was sold. The guy who sold it to me loved it because it was different. Same reason reason I got it.

I love it cause its the ultimate sleeper, it seats four comfertably, places all the controlls perfectly in my reach, the neon brake light, the way the seat slides foreward when you pull it forward, the wonderful thrust when you floor it.... its just a great car.

The overall package... it rides smooth, has a great interior, has good power, mods are available...

Lastly
vvvvv

It's a pretty car.
It respectably fast.
And it's great on the highway.

Ultimate package of american power and luxury and now... affordable.. and as well as its a grampa car. like civics are (turds) grandma cars. Its a car built on a platform modifiable by the knowledgeable, verses the ricers. As well as blowing by people and never knowing nor can ever figure out where that intoxicating, nasty growl came from or went to. and its to dam n sexy

Smooth engine
good power
Excellent for long trips!!!

I don't love any car, but I like the Mark for two reasons: interesting styling and anonymity.

I love it cause not to many people have them. When people see mine they walk around it then ask, "what kinda car is that?"

Also don't forget ... unless you are stuck in stop and go traffic or always heavy on the foot ...

The Mark VIII has very impressive MPGs for what you get. As good as most 6 bangers out there.

MPGs, Style, and available Power ... It's an almost perfect car ....

But most of all you never get tired of driving the damn thing ... any excuse to get in and drive it...

My First Thread on LvC ... says it well

Hello -

No I have 2 children and I was not refering to my sex life.

Last week I was in a lot looking to purchase an inexpensive tepmorary vehicle.

I was looking at Saturns, Escorts, and other cars pricing from $3k to $4k.

I was about to purchase the Saturn when my wife told me to check out the Mark III that was sitting infront of the office door.

I looked at the mileage and saw 156K. I was looking for something a little lower as my Con. Van has 160k (130k of my own, plus I have put 100+ on 2 other cars, so I am not affraid of a few miles).

We went home to ponder the Escort and the Saturn.

I was doing a little comparisson of cars on Edmunds.com and just took a look at the Mark VIII.

Wow they claimed they could do 25 to 28 mpgs and the V8 could last. Hmmmm.

I took if for a drive last friday just as a joke, and it was incredible.

I didn't buy the Saturn LOL.

Now I am in love this this automobile - can't say car as it is much more than just a car.

Can't wait to put a 100+k on this automobile. Plus it sure is nice knowing that I have 280+ hp under the hood. And as a bonus I got 30 mpg on an 160 mile trip I took on Sunday Wow (maybe I should have gotten an ecconomy car LOL)

So I was a virgin Mark VIII driver, but just like sex once your tried you keep looking for more. (I think I still like sex better, but I would rather drive my Mark after sex than smoke a cig. LOL

I bought my first Lincoln in 1988...a brand new Mark VII. Was hooked even back then and have been a Lincoln fan ever since. Lost that in a divorce and have always thought how great it would be to own a Mark again, in its day the crown jewel of Ford Motor Company.

It is a true Automobile not just a car. A unique luxury vehicle built to be superior in every way. I sell Lincolns and I can tell you that the quality of the materials in my '98 is superior to most everything made today with maybe the exception being the new leather now in the MKS's and MKT's

The Mark VIII is a Luxury Rolling Rocketship, and as has been said already, different and uncommon.

I am happy to once again cruise in a Mark....and oh yeah, I like it.

most everything has been covered above, love my air suspension, and i love that its not a damn mustang!!!

There is no car out there like our Marks. To me its the perfect machine ever made by the hands of men. It looks great and it feels even greater when you're sitting behing the wheel. The Mark first caught my eye when I was very young maybe 8. When I first saw a MarkVII sitting infront of my school here in Miami. I remember it completely. It was Fairland Elementary. I was sitting in the back seat of my dads old 79 Mercury Monarch, waiting for my brother to be realesed from class, and there it was. Im not sure what year MarkVII it was but it was beautiful. Then as soon as I graduated High school, my parents buy me my first car, a 95 Cougar XR-7 3.8 V6, and the passionate love began. I just had to have a Mark. I bought myself a 97 Base toreader red which I totalled, you can still see the pictures in MarkVIII.org under Cobra MarkVIII. And now Im on my second Mark, another 97 Base Cordovan.

I first saw one when I was a senior in HS back in 93. Didnt know jack about cars, but knew I loved the way this looked. Through the years I learned a little more about cars and decided I had to have one. Bought my first one in 2003 and still drive it almost everyday. Its nowhere near stock anymore, and needs a paint job really bad, but I love it for the same reasons everyone else has stated. Its unique, powerful, and comfortable. Not to mention what first turned me on to them, the looks. The last time I got a ticket was in 2003, the cop had to ask me what kind of car it was, then said he had never seen one.

I drove one in 93, I liked it. Fast Forward to 07- I was doing a fifty mile search on E-Bay, I liked it, I saw it, I bought it! It`s a great Highway cruiser. Just wish it was BLACK!!!!

just got back from a 2400 mile trip and got 23 mpg with about 300 miles of in town driving

I test drove a 98 LSC the other day and it's nothing like the MN12 Thunderbird, I love the leather seats and air ride. I really enjoyed the ride, look and feel of the car, truly a masterpiece.

I can tell you another reason, I like how my friends with STOCK performance cars keep talking trash about my decision to build a mark viii. They know nothing about them except it has a mustang engine and they do not know how to work on cars so I don't see them beating me any time soon.

I originally only went to look at it because it had a nice interior and was RWD unlike any other caddy, and I was HOOKED!!!!!!!! Luxury, performance all into one package, awesome gas mileage yet I can still burn rubber and hear a v8 rumble!!! I Love my mark......when it dies beyond revival....I'm replacing it with another mark :)
