Listen to the above. Even with 4.10 gears you will still have plenty of RPM's. Our 4 speed automatics give us plenty at top end.
My car ran 140 MPH on the chassis dyno in 3rd gear. You should be worried about tires at that point.
Also get yourself a new aluminum one piece drive shaft with...

When you start talking of modifying your Mark Vlll you need to understand that these cars are expensive to keep running to start with and even more expensive when you start modifying them.
Here is a video of my Mark Vlll, that I call Whiner. You need to define your purpose and...
If you go to American Air Ride Systems, Eddie has a wonderful self help section. Our air ride system isn't that complicated once you understand the basics. Save yourself some time and grief and visit his sight.
Mercon V is what to use in both the transmission and the power steering. Fill and turn wheels lock to lock several times, drain and refill and do it again. May take two times to flush all the bad fluid out. refill with Mercon V only

Sorry to learn of your personal problems, and hope the better times soon arrive for you.

My advice is to buddy up to a FOMOCO dealer. We used to have Max at Five Star, I don't know were else to send you, as I got my own locally. You should stay with the Motorcraft kits, and that's were you you need a patient parts guy to go thru and get you the correct numbers for the kit and what...
Sorry to see your bad luck John. Does the sprocket look as though it suffered a stress crack, or was it caused by something else? Hope your able to get back in action with minimal effort. Good thing it was at idle.
