harsh transmission shifts

ppl here are going to s_hit because they dont agree; but i think you should un plug your battery (to clear the tranny specs) and run a drive cycle on it before you go tearin the thing apart and opening your checkbook.
recently new tranny filter & fluid + old tranny specs = ?
clear your specs for free and see what she does with new ones in lieu of dropping all the money on repairs. if a few drive cycles doesnt fix your probs then do the solenoid.

Joe explained the E message so I won't get into that.

For the ebrake, try resetting the battery. Pull the negative cable off for a half hour or so to allow everything to reset. I had an issue where I reset my battery (it was off for about 10 minutes), put it back together, and started getting a "service parking brake" message when trying to use it. I did another reset (40 minutes or so) and the message is gone.

already tried that once i disconnected the battery overnight connected it back in the morning

i'm sure its a bad module

i will check how much the stealership charges for the solenoid pack i will update once i install hopefully i am changing the right part otherwise i will be fried

i will try this tomorrow

thanks

800700trans.com....ugggg. Buy from them at your own risk. I hate those a$$holes. They sell you bad parts and wont refund your money, exchange only and no mention of that on their site or receipt.

The solenoid pack will be $400+ from a dealership. If you can spare the time, I really recommend ordering it from FordPartsGiant or a similar website.

It won't hurt to try but I doubt it. I've heard of people having their trans reprogrammed but never anything about resetting a battery to fix violent shifts.

sometimes i hear this very harsh tumpe! or doope! like a very harsh down shift coming from the rear end this happens once in a while when i'm braking at low speeds can this be the shift solenoids as well?

i had this problem once after i lost my tranny specs; cleared my tranny specs and followed a drive cycle break in and mostly drove the car as i normally do, and i have not heard the noise you refer to in 2 yrs.

i dont know what the noise is but it happened intermittently (at lower speeds as you mentioned) when it downshifted from 3-2. if i were you i would not drive the car again without disconnecting the battery to clear the specs first. and i would pull over to a safe place immediately if it did it again, and disconnect the battery again. i would guess of the 40 times i have disconnected the battery, the symptom you described has happened twice. and i would say it has happened about 10 times total in those two instances. i thought i needed a new tranny the first time i heard it and frankly i am shocked that a simple battery disconnect made it go away completely, but i aint complaining.

i have not replaced solenoids on my 05 v6, but i can assure you that if it doesnt get a good break in after changing specs of anything factoring into a shift timing (fluid and filter change would qualify) the solenoid acts up and presents the same problems associated with a failing solenoid. if it gets a good break-in and acquires good tranny specs it doesnt have a single problem.

yeah....you know like

when i unscrewed the small screw in the middle of the big screw a lot of fluid came out and its only supposed to be a thin stream or drip out so thats why i think it was overfilled at the factory

oh s_hit grell! the canadian pulled out the "american heritage" dictionary on you!!

stealership wants $628.00 that's not including tax there's one on ebay for $120.00 if i bid on it i can probably get it for cheaper BUT i dont know if i should trust this guy the part could be no good

"This is a Solenoid Block for an automatic 5R55S Transmission, I purchased it a few weeks ago and was going to attempt to put it in myself. Needless to say my ambition exceeded my skill set, so instead I had a shop put one in for me. They refused to use any parts that were not their own, so here it is. I know this not only fits a 2003-2006 Lincoln LS with an automatic transmission. I believe it fits a 5r55N and 5r55W as well but do not quote me on that, I would read forums before your purchase. But it does 100% fit the 5r55s. Good luck, and Happy Bidding.

You can email me with questions if you would like. Thank you."

"oh s_hit" the Troller struck again... nice work...

i was hoping he'd explain his process of draining and filling to see if he had (accidentally) put the incorrect amount of fluid in (so we could confirm my solenoid assembly conclusion) .... Instead he went the smartass way (pretty cool) so I'm out...

Sorry M4rk... but they're all the same...
I'd imagine some of these are repeat members though...

Solenoid assembly 2Z-7G391-AA for $317.41 plus shipping at FordPartsGiant. At least there it's new and with warranty.

oh misunderstanding on my part my mistake i didnt see the point otherwise i wouldve explained

this harsh shifts started before the drain and fills and filter replacement the harsh shifts were the reason for the drain and fills in the first place

i had no idea about solenoids going bad on these cars so i suspected dirty filter and fluid

Do you ship internationally? Unfortunately no. We only ship within the 50 United States of America

9L2Z7G391A is the latest revision part number. ~$300 shipped from Tasca.

eh? you have one for sale? that site does not ship to Canada

"Unfortunately we cannot process or ship international orders at this time. This includes international forms of payment such as credit card or debit card transactions shipping within the US. We can process international orders as wire transfers (bank to bank form of payment) for any order over $250.00 including shipping. These orders would still have to ship within the US. Sorry for the inconvenience."

thanks

do you or anyone else have experience ordering solenoids from TASCA?

I have ordered other parts (cooling system related) from them. I've had no problems.

I used ford parts giant for cooling parts recently and they were great. Tasca i have not used yet but have heard good things and they are also an ebay seller.

I used FordPartsGiant. They screwed me out of expedited shipping. I paid them like $50 extra to two-day it and they just shipped it ground because they have a terrible process for fast shipping. It's either ground or you have to submit the order, then contact them about expediting, then they contact you back, blah blah blah.

However, I did get them in regular time and the parts were good so no complaints otherwise.

detailed the engine area took some pictures disconnected the battery a few hrs ago just connected back have not driven it yet

So, have you ever even tried the e-brake initialize procedure?

Basically, put the car in neutral and hold pressure on the brake pedal. Set the parking brake, wait several seconds, release the parking brake. Drive a little ways and then use the parking brake when you park. The light should be off when you restart it a while later.
