How often does this happen to you?

Property rights vs handicapped parking laws

Luckily, my dad has handicap placards and I have one of them in my car so I always park in the very front and in a van access if possible because they're even wider. A handicap person is allowed to have two of them. Sometimes I get out with a limp and sometimes not. I might be bad for doing that but I have been known to pick grocery carts up and throw them onto cars if I seen one had hit me. I think I'm better off parking in a handicap spot and keeping my piece of mind. It's not like they don't have enough of them to park in anyway or here in Alabama they have too many.

I even parked in a handicap spot at a church in Auburn, AL for my brothers wedding. I was looked at funny but my car was well away from anyone else. Bushes on one side and good distance on the other. That's what 95% of my parking spots look like where I live.

A small change of subject: I own a business that is required by law to have a handicapped parking spot and I believe that to violate my property rights. If someone is handicapped and I have no spot for them they have the perfect right not to buy from my business and I have a perfect right not to waste two stalls that sit empty 99/100ths of the day.

Weird - was just discussing this very subject today. Call me a grumpy old prick, but I don't believe in special rights for handicapped or anybody else for that matter. In my backward home country, (England) not only do we have TONS of wasted parking reserved for disabled, but we also have special parking for 'mums and kids' - so much for equality. Goddamn Libtards piss me off.

/Rant.

Rarely do I see somebody using a disabled space who isn't just as fit to walk as I am. Pisses me off.

There maybe bad imposters out there, but I do believe that for someone that is truely hadicapped they do have the need for them. One day you may as well be in their shoes without fault of your own, not wishing any bad against anyone, but you never know. Just like a push button door opener or a wheel chair ramp, what do you say to them, tuff luck.

If that stuff happens to me - tough titties. Don't want special rights or special favors. I hate that stuff. In a civilized world, there'd be no need for special spaces - people would see a truly handicapped person, and by the very grace of their hearts, give up a space or offer help. Maybe I'm just cynical... :D

I'm no meanie, I just hate seeing things that are supposed to improve quality of life being abused.

If I ever become so handicapped that I need to park close I will still have the same principles; if the owner wants no such stalls that will be fine.

Sometimes it is not about principles, but that of limitations. But everyone has a right to their own opinion.

So true; at my business if a handicapped person called we would carry them in, but wasting a spot in my small lot all day is stupid and the government has no right to require it.

Camel 99's FTW - less $$ for more length. :D

I always park far away and by myself unless I can get those cherry spots that have the large handicapped walk space on one side and cart rack on the other. Then no worries of door ding. But man do I get pissed when the lot is damn near empty and some ass hat has to park right on top of me. Me and sapperfire went to lunch the other day in my Mark. I parked in an ile that had not one other car in it. We leave and the lot is still pretty open yet right next to my car is a beat up POS Tahoe thats over the line on my side.
I had my keys out as I was ready to do some dammage but we didnt see any dings on mine.... well other then the one that was there already. :(

here ya go...

I think large parking lots should have assigned areas-
1- handicapped spots,
2- pregos & MultiMoms spots,
3- dillwad spots,
and
4- I am parking out in BFE and if you park within 4 feet of any part of my car I will wait till you return to you car, follow you to your work/home and make it my mission to make your life a living hell spots.

I guess if I were handicapped, and there were no spots, hopefully the business would have a sign large enough providing guidance on getting assistance to their business.

I have had two occasions where due to surgeries I was provided a temporary handicapped parking permit, even had to use the electric cart thing, pretty embarrassing and humbling.

I will never forget a store where there were no spots available... I thought, cool, I can handle this, parked in a fairly close spot and made it bout 3/4's the way and passed out...ok, so the squad only took up the whole lane I fell out in, preventing about 12-15 cars from leaving and blocked any incoming traffic in front of the store for about 20-30 minutes until they finished checking me out...but hey, I finally got to the store!

by the way, there is a TJ Max store here that does not have handicapped entry, they have a itty bitty sign at the door saying that "if you are handicapped a store associate will assist you with entering and exiting..." how embarrassing that would be to arrive in your wheelchair and band your head on the glass to have an associate come let you in!!! none the less, thought it was interesting that they legally can get away with it.

I normally & religiously park the furthest away I can possibly find - and if there is dirt or gravel or dust...even further.

Prayers ya'll stay in tip top shape!

i park as far away as i can and take carts from the rack and lay them on their sides in all the stalls next to my car:D:D

NOOOOOO - carts are EVIL, they are the damning tools of 1-3!!! 1-3 will hit them in their blind fury to enter or exit the lot, sending one or two or five hurling toward your Mark....
CARTS ARE EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing that will keep carts away from your mark is to have a reverse polarized magnet in your Mark with enough reverse polarization to send the cart to the next location of the store they are at now!!! and we all know that strong of a magnet will cause total chaos to our delicate electrical system (to say nothing of your E-N-S-W never working right again!).

CARTS are worse then...gravel....mud puddles even worse then DIRT ON KK's HAND!

lol he wanted me to do it, i aint that dumb

i work at a grocery store and keep a collection of the coolest cars in the lot on my phone(cts-v's gt500's ecoboosts', 2011 5.0's, ect). on a seperate note, dont ever park next to the cart return, theres all kinds of lazy asshats who will put the cart NEXT to the return instead of in it, and we dont like that. and if you dont want door dings park in the very back in 2 parking spots.

YES IT DOES!!!! how do you think I get anywhere! lolol

In OH, firefighters and cops can do no wrong...including drunken driving, fleeing and eluding, obstruction, resisting arrest and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle. After chasing him to his home, he made ran inside locked the door and left his wife in the car...so what does the all power State Highway Patrol do....LEAVE!!!! lololol
