LS Vinyl Wrap Project

Good to know. Saves me some trouble when I take it off soon. Wondering if the guys at the shop already broke of that clip you speak of when I got the rear end damged fixed.

Its looking sick so far! Can't wait for more. Very jealous that you get to work on your ls after finals :(

why are you even taking the bumper off?? you should be able to wrap everything with it on.

Yea you can cover most areas with the car put together, but it isnt completely sealed from weather and you can only push vinyl so far behind things. It is much more extensive to wrap everything as a piece and reassemble. More solid of a job. Go all out, or not at all!

Alax if the rear bumper has ever been completely off, they have snapped that piece. That piece doesn't matter though because there is an actual bolt in the fender well that holds up the bumper just past where the dumb piece is.

That makes sence. Just never did that before. I have wrapped 2 cars already and its held up fine. But its definatly different when your doing your own car. Have to make everything just right!!

Also it is much easier removing and installing the valences with the bumper off. Those things were a b!tch!

Got held up tonight. Going to wrap the bumper tomorrow. I got the corner pieces done though. And it turns out, one of them wasn't even painted - was just the black plastic. Got some sanding and minor filling to do to even out some of the rock chips in the rear bumper. Pics tomorrow! (or today)

We should have a big wrap party at the national meet and you can help me wrap mine matte white, leaving the roof black.

When i got my car the front bumper looked like it was cleaned with a cheese grater.

Im guessing the person drove highway most of the time. Which is a good thing.

You've been makin' good progress Andrizzle. Keep it up, before you know it, job will be complete.

batmobile? I like it

Lol, yea the chips are like right behind the rear wheels - previous owner must've done 100 down gravel roads or some sh!t.

bull, matte white would be sickkk, but you would need to wrap the jams also (which would suck).

Okay I learned the hard way to not wrap a rear bumper... Let's just say it isn't perfect, but not terrible.

Definitely learned a lot though. It is my biggest panel to wrap thus far. Have it 3/4 done.

Rear bumper is nearly done. Will finish tomorrow after work... This was an extremely difficult panel with all the indention patterns and such.

Photos tomorrow night, sorry for the delay but it took much more time than I thought it would! I can't imagine wrapping it while it is on the car.

Here is a teaser pic!

How you were going to pull off the bumper with all the changing angles was the most interesting part to me, looks like you pulled it off though.
Was it all one piece or multiple?

I haven't looked this thread in awhile...looking good Drizzle!!

If you don't want that spoiler I have cash...:shifty:

Yea I didn't really think it would be as tough as it was. A few spots of mistakes, but overall it gets my approval. This could possibly be the hardest panel to wrap on the LS.

All one piece - seamless baby!

Well, if it wasn't bad enough that I had searched for you wheels tirelessly, I now what to wrap my car too. Mine is in bad need of paint and I hate painting cars.

So far so good, can't wait to see it finished.

I honestly think the front bumper is going to be way worse!! The bottom grille is going to be a pain in the a$$!! I'm thinking about just painting mine so I don't even have to deal with it.

Lol, I think my wheels are so impossible to find now that I could put them in a museum when I am done with em!

The front bumper IMO will be easier, I am just wrapping the border of the lower grille, not planning on doing the slats. Though I could do that later if wanted, seams down there will be nearly impossible to find.

The rear bumper has the upper and lower indentions in addition to the corner pieces, it is difficult to leave enough vinyl slack for the indentions and continue wrapping the rest of the surface, a lot of going back and forth.

The rear bumper is all done! Going to attach the skirts and snap some pics for ya guys. Going to reinstall it tomorrow as I am off work. Also Fedex just came by with the new hood and fender.

I wonder how the vinyl will hold up around the exhaust cut outs.

Drizz - nice work, looks amazing! I would love to try this on my car too as the paint is looking like it's really 10 years old in some spots....

Looking forward to the finished product :)
