amazing as always hite... You leaving the engine cover on / black???

Thanks RELL. I'm not sure about the engine cover yet...I dont want to put my intake tube back on yet because I'm waiting on my PowerMax 200amp alternator to arrive. I will decide what to do with the engine cover when its all back together.

Nicely done. It definitely gives some needed life to our engine bay. I like.

Thanks marc, I thought the same thing. Im also thinking about some of those braided stainless steel hose covers for the large coolant hoses. Just to dress it up alittle.

Your wifes gonna be pissed when she sees what u did to her green bucket....

Hi eveyone! I just picked up a 2002 Lincoln LSE for $2950.00 with 155k but an engine swap 8k miles ago with a 62k engine. The guy I bought it from works at a local salvage yard and they also sell used cars. When he saw the LSE come into the lot he called me and said $2950 right now so I bought it sight unseen. He said all he knew is the car was overheating. I've been thru a few spells of that already with my 00 LS so I'm confident I can fix the cooling system fairly easily. He even towed the car to my house 25 miles away for free!!
I got the car home around 1pm and changed the degas bottle and started the valve cover gaskets. When I removed the valve covers I was happy to see the all metal timing chain tensioners and what appeared to be new primary guide rails so I'm going to assume the timing chain area was overhauled. I'm thinking the metal secondary tensioners werent available by 02?? The valve cover gaskets were the new black ones but they were pinched on the passenger side by the exhaust manifold and 4 out of the 8 plug hole o-rings were installed upside down I think because they were leaking and they fell out when I pulled the cover off. So 4 oil flooded cop boots, 7 motorcraft fine point plugs, one autolite plug, 7 factory cops's, and one replaced cop come out and straight to the trash. Oh and I somehow broke the dipstick handle off with the rest of the dipstick stuck in the hole. That was fun.... I am going to order some Accel cop's and E3 plugs tomorrow and a few other goodies.
The hydraulic fan reservoir has some strawberry milk lookin stuff in it. It's a matter of time before that shoots craps so it will be coming out soon and an electric fan replacing that. It has some minor dings here and there, the front lower bumper is cracked, one fog light lense is broken but it still works, the arm rest leather is cracking, locking lugs with no key....grrrrr, and it needs a few suspension parts but I think I came across a pretty good deal.

Wow small world, you have a friend that works at Midway. My wife manages a salvage yard that used to be part of their conglomeration.

Very Nice work looks a hell of a lot diffrent from when you first got the LSE.

I am in the process of repairing my 19" Mille Miglia EV-R's. They had extremely bad curb rash and one of them has a pretty good dent in it. I have sent the dented one to a friend to get fixed and I have repaired the curb rash on all of them. I plan on getting them painted the same silver color they were origionally.

I installed my new 200amp PowerMax alternator today. I also got some 1/0 gauge wire to complete the upgrade along with new battery terminals.

I also purchased 2 Thunderbolt high flow catalytic convertors, 2 Jegs 18mm oxygen sensor bungs, 4 new oxygen sensors, new Motorcraft spark plugs and a new fog light.

It was the only HO alt I could find other that the DB Electrical. Ive heard several stories of DB's arriving DOA. It was $192 shipped on ebay.

Update

I finished the alternator upgrade but I've decided to send the PowerMax alternator back and purchase the DB Electrical alternator. I think there may be a problem with the PowerMax, when I rev the engine my headlights get very bright for a split second. They dont get brighter or dimmer with RPM's, it's like a very short surge upon hitting the gas pedal. I dont know if its some sort of internal regulator issue or what. I also need to order the lower idler pulley but I cant seem to find one. Its smooth with a flange on the outside. The only ones with flanges have rib grooves. I ordered one for my '00 a few years back but I cant seem to find one anywhere.

Contact max i just ordered a set of gen II pulleys from him.

sorry to hear about the alt. most here agree that oem alt is the best.

Update #2

I removed my CATs tonight so I can begin to install my new Thunderbolt high flow CATs. The rear driverside flange bolt was a pain as I have heard. The right side CAT was trashed as you can see in the pics below. I am going to take them to work Monday and weld on the new CATs. Then I will use band clamps to reattach them while I order the rest of the 2.5" custom CAT back parts and pipe. Jones resonators, ebay X-pipe, Streetrays dual chrome tips and 2 1/2" pipe. I am going to use some 2.5" Magnaflow mufflers I've had laying around for awhile. It suck not having a welder at home. I will have to fit everything one part at a time and take it to work to tack it all together, bring it home to verify the fit and then take it back to work the next day to weld it all out.

I wanted a higher output alternator than factory to support my electric cooling fan conversion and be able to support an audio system in the future without having any issues with dimming headlights and such.

I will probly give Max a call on Monday to see if he has the pulley I need.

Yeah but from what ive seen other than factory alts arent very good. maybe you could send the factory alt and have the internals upgraded?

Do you have the big 3 done yet?

Alternator, increase gauge size from alternator to the battery and the battery ground itself, and increase the gauge size for the engine block ground.

Ahhh then yes, big 3 is complete as soon as the DB Electrical alt arrives

I have a db alternator. Crazy as it sounds, I never had it installed because I read some of the comments here. However, I did have it bench tested and it shows charging fine. Maybe I will get around to putting it in in a few months. LOL. I went with the 200 amp version.
