Trump-appointed hostage negotiator pushes back on GOP prisoner swap criticism ​


A top hostage negotiator dismissed GOP concerns that the massive prisoner swap orchestrated last week will encourage Russian President Vladimir Putin to detain more Americans.

“The funny thing is, it’s just not proving true. I mean, there was a time when I had 54 cases. I’m now down to just over 20. So we’ve made hard changes. We’ve traded some bad people to get good people, innocent people, back,” he told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “And you would think that my numbers would be skyrocketing up, and yet they’re not. They’re going in the opposite direction.”

“So the math proves that assertion could be wrong when we make these hard decisions and the president makes the tough call to send someone back in a trade like this, our numbers are actually going down,” Carstens added.

The prisoner exchange last week, the largest since the Cold War, freed 16 people — including Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan — in exchange for eight Russian nationals held in jails in the U.S. and Europe. -snip

Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto challenged former President Trump’s record and comments on the stock market Monday after the former president blamed President Biden and Vice President Harris for this week’s slide.

Trump said that the Wall Street drop, triggered by instability in the Japanese economy alongside concerns over a cooling U.S. jobs market, was actually the fault of the White House. Earlier this year, when stocks were soaring, the former president had said it was because of anticipation over him returning to the White House.

“The Donald Trump thing in the market amazes me,” Cavuto said. “When they’re up, it’s all because of him and looking forward to him. When they’re down, it’s all because the Democrats and how horrific they are.”

“Yet some of our biggest point drops, three of the biggest of the top 10, occurred during his administration,” he continued. -snip

Yes, it's so enlightening to see how all the negatives the deluded right accused Biden of having and demonstrating, are now even more obvious with trump and Vance as they pursue the old dinosaur politics of anger, lies and revenge. The USA is tired of that BS and want better, which they can see in the team of Harris and Walz. Maga/republicans just can't get their heads around that and have no ideas or policies to offer. Exciting times ahead for sure!

If that's the case, that opens up a can of worms... and it appears that local (Butler) police had their hands tied by the FBI (that severely) dropped the ball.

It's still an extremely close race and Trump can still win. The deplorable Elon Musk and his buddies are throwing their full financial weight behind Trump, they now own him. But yeah, next 2.5 months will be interesting.

Trump teases 'official' cryptocurrency project ​


Former President Donald Trump appeared to promote an “official” cryptocurrency project using his name in a Truth Social post on Thursday.

“For too long, the average American has been squeezed by the big banks and financial elites. It’s time we take a stand — together. #BeDefiant,” the post read. The Republican presidential nominee also included a link to a Telegram channel for his official “DeFi” project.

“DeFi” stands for decentralized finance and refers to financial activities on a blockchain. It includes cryptocurrency trading and transferring funds outside the purview of banking institutions.

Trump’s post about the project comes on the heels of a series of actions he’s taken to align himself with the cryptocurrency community, which is highly active online and tight-knit.

After referring to cryptocurrency as a “scam against the dollar” in 2021, Trump praised it this summer while speaking at a bitcoin conference as corporations within the crypto sector have dramatically increased their political donations. -snip



Trump was strongly against crypto, used to call it a "scam", then someone told him it's a pyramid scheme where he could personally make millions or billions off of idiots, especially while using the leverage the office of the POTUS gives and now he's all in. Classic Trump and Trumpism.

“The Republican Party is no longer conservative,” Kinzinger said. “It has switched its allegiance from the principles that gave it purpose to a man who’s only purpose is himself.”

Republican Adam Kinzinger is not wrong, Trump is a disaster to not just the Republican party, but to our country as a whole. It's a shame more conservatives won't free themselves from the cult mentality like Kinzinger did.

Former President Donald Trump promoted a social media account that wrote that “the election must be too big to rig” above an image of a flag with the words “Trump or Communism.”

The account Trump promoted is filled with extremist content, including claims that “Jews have been capitalizing on niggers for thousands of years”; “Adolf Hitler was right”; and the Holocaust was “the Holohoax. 6 Million never happened.”

The account also wrote: “I'm a proud White Nationalist” and “Make Anti-Semitism Great Again.”

There is nothing subtle about the X account that Trump promoted: It is blatantly white nationalist and antisemitic, including writing numerous posts that deny the Holocaust and portray Adolf Hitler as a hero. Here are several examples:

Army says Arlington National Cemetery worker was 'pushed aside' by Trump aides​


The U.S. Army said an employee at Arlington National Cemetery who tried to "ensure adherence" to rules that prohibit political activities at the cemetery "was abruptly pushed aside," but that the employee decided not to press charges against the Trump campaign staffers who allegedly pushed her. -snip

"Participants in the August 26th ceremony and the subsequent Section 60 visit were made aware of federal laws, Army regulations and DoD policies, which clearly prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds," the statement said. "An ANC employee who attempted to ensure adherence to these rules was abruptly pushed aside. Consistent with the decorum expected at ANC, this employee acted with professionalism and avoided further disruption. The incident was reported to the JBM-HH police department, but the employee subsequently decided not to press charges. Therefore, the Army considers this matter closed."

The Army, in its statement, called the incident "unfortunate," adding: "it is also unfortunate that the ANC employee and her professionalism has been unfairly attacked."

The statement comes a day after Trump shared a TikTok video including footage from Arlington National Cemetery that likely violates a federal law against using military cemeteries for campaigning purposes. -Snip
