I know exactly how Marx got where he got, and he started on the journey to get there while in university it certainly appears. All one need do is read some of his letters to his father and see the decline in his mind commensurate with the turning of his heart. All communists follow a similar path.

By the way, read early Karl Marx (at 17 years old): The Union of the Faithful with Christ.
