What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

FWIW, a famous oil leak for ANY 4.6L engine is around that oil adapter gasket; I've changed dozens at the shop. They are under $10 at any parts store (Fel-Pro 70415) and look like this:

As a matter of fact, I've got two of these at the house! lol

Yep. Had to change the one in my old '96 a few years ago. It wasn't fun. Hopefully that's not what's leaking on my car. If I don't smell any more oil for the next few days, I'll be pretty sure the new oil pressure sender fixed it. If it comes back, it'll be a new adapter gasket. Again, crosses fingers...

Tbh i'm not sure. My initial idea was that it would be in the back seat. From seeing it come together I might beable to fit it in the trunk. Either way i'll prob take it out after a couple month's because I'll either want my trunk or backseat back. :)

unless you need your spare, do like i did in my old ss make a fiberglass mold of your wheelwell and build up the floor. it still gives you use of the trunk and still have different mounting options.use a piece of mdf to lay around outside of hole(its basically going to be bottom of box with a hole cutout for the wheelwell) empty out wheelwell, cut the hole out of the mdf (3/4")for the wheelwell.use tinfoil to cover the wheelwell hole and wallsto about a foot past the hole all around, then take the mdf with hole cut out lay it in the trunk, lay fiberglass mat inside hole on tinfoil(this will keep it from sticking if you havent figured it out yet!) then light coats of resin until you get the shape right, dont worry about lumps or uneveness and bring the matt over the board and stick a couple o screws in it to anchor it 2 layers should be enough for the mold. let dry and remove.you will have to build up the matt and resin to at least 3/4".it helps to have all the dimensions and pieces cut beforehand, if you need help with the calculations pm me with your # and hole dimensions and speaker type with min and max box volume and ill do the leg work for you. trust me youll love it!:D

Well a little more progress. Glued the double baffle together yesterday and let it sit overnight. Didn't have enough clamps so I used a old 40" 300lb tv, 2 75lb steel car ramp, 75lb bag o sand and a tool chest. Turned out great lol. Glued that on tonight. Here are just a few pic's of what i'm thinking for bracing.

It's slowly getting there, little bit every night. Prob won't go in for a little while longer.

I wanted to use 1" dowels but don't have any in the garage. Those are just mocked up for now, not sure what i'll use as of yet.

Nothing wrong with a common chamber.

I didn't smell any oil today:) Yay! Looks like I won't be replacing that oil filter adapter gasket just yet.

Man, ofag's seem to be leaking left and right lately. I'm not loosing any noticable oil from there but do have a slight coolant leak from the area.

One of the many things i'll fix/have fixed in the spring.

Sbc, have you tried putting that box IN the trunk with it mocked up yet? The reason I ask is the Super Bass ProBox for my 12s wouldn't fit thru the trunk opening, the curve of the rear deck prevented it. You may want to check that before you spend the time to complete your project

I haven't mocked it up yet.

I went into the project knowing there was no way in hell it would fit in the trunk. So I built it to fit in the backseat below the window line which happened to be right around JL spec for them. The more I look at it the more I think it has a chance(slim :)) of squeezing in there since it's kinda shallow. If it fit's in the trunk when I'm done, great. If not they're being plopped in the backseat.

shes been sitting under snow for the past couple days.

got my DDM HID's in... OMG what a difference.

and my transmission is broken. need a 1-2 actuator, and the springs. adn 12 qts of fluid. UHG.

Went to the JY to grab some Taurus parts for Laser..
Saw my old 93, poor car :-(

SBC, seriously? The back seat? look dude, if you want to go deaf that bad, come to Texas, Bill and I can fire off some shot-gun shells right by your head, that should do the trick..and you'll still have room for passengers

And if I like the way It sounds I might just make a wall for them. :D

I did that in my 71' Challenger with 18's and did not like it. Wound up with to many holes in the Bass. You really need to get the speaker as far back as possible to create a Bass Sound Wave and not have cancellation from standing waves.

lol, it was a joke. :p A wall would be to hard on the car. I do however love how the bass feels/sounds when a sealed box is placed in the rear seat area. I'm never satisfied with trunk setups.

Well in the 4 years that I was the box designer and builder at the shop I worked at I tried it all in my vehicles. When I started working there I had a 81' Fairmont and among all the boxes I had one that was 4 12's wall in the back seat. I wound up turning it around backwards to get a deeper Bass sound out of it. Lil less punch but a ton more Power Bass

Thought about making a raised floor in the trunk for the 2 18's I still have but decided to use the 13w7 as it's output can rival them if I put enough power to it. Plus it has punch and shakes the floors under my feat with specific songs.

Ya like what ya like but modeling tons of cars with the microphones for max output and sound clarity always wound up as far back as possible, Walls were just for SPL.

I'm hopeing for the best. If for whatever reason it sounds like dookie I'll try something else.

What 18's do you have?

And...............................

It's done. Ended up only doing the 1 brace. This box went together way to well. I guess it pay's off to take your time and not rush things. I was just reflecting on how anxious I got when I was younger trying to install things too quickly and having to redo it at a later time. As I get older It might take a little extra time to do something, but it's done the right way.

Now i'll just sit and ponder on what i'm going to do with the ext. I have wood filler so I could use that, then sand the box and round the corners to make it purty. Or carpet..

Not today but on Moday I was driving on the 10 freeway and there was a huge driveshaft from a truck crossing the entire lane.I had no chance to avoid it as there were cars on either side of me and a truck close enough to not take a chance at stopping behind me.

I had no choice but to run over it at about 65 mph.

It bent the cross member and took out my Rack & Pinion.I had to strong arm it to turn so I could get off the freeway.

Picture of the damage.

There was other small damage but that was the biggest.

^^^^^ Ouch!

At least you didn't get in an accident! Nobody else hit it? Did it fall out of a vehicle in front of you? Lawsuit! Lawsuit! :)

There was a Toyota 4x4 that hit it which in turn kicked it back more.I didn't see what truck it came off of but it was from a big truck. It had crossed the entire lane.

What makes it even worse is that I only have liability.

The car is at a shop now but have not got word on how much it will cost yet.

For the first time in the 4 1/2 years of owning my mark...........

It was driven in snow. I expected the worst and I guess I'm pleased. Handles very much like my 98 marquis did, which isn't all that great. We only had about 2.5" on the ground by the time I left work so the roads weren't THAT bad. Took a bit to get going from a complete stop but once moving it wasn't all that bad, I was getting passed alot though. If we get an actual blizzard I'll be up it's creek. :(

But the Mark and myself got home safe and sound. :steering

in theory, but the speaker will always perform better in its own enclosure.i'm just a perfectionist when it comes to sub boxes.

I'll be making my sub enclosure for my sub as small as I can possibly
make it! A-p

Leaves me plenty of room in the trunk.
