What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

I don't seem to see the word "strut" anywhere on that box. Does anyone else see the word "strut"? Me neither. Looks like Mark VIII's don't have struts. At least Ford Motor Company (the folks who designed and engineered these cars) knows the difference between an SLA suspension and a strut suspension:rolleyes:

(Sorry, couldn't help it. I just had to go there:D)

Congrats on your new front air shocks NoLimit! It's always nice to know your car won't be slammed an hour after you park it!:)

I don't blame you for going there. I usually just refer to them as front bags but it is actually an "air shock" and not an "air strut".

Thanks thaywood and "sbcaprice", I checked it about an hour ago and all 4 corners are still setting in the same exact spot. Measured all of them and not even a 1/16th off anywhere. Depending on temperature outside, it used to nose dive within 4 to 6 hours on average. All because of one "bag"

Agreed. I used to make a bigger deal out of it, but it ended up being an excercise in futility. I still have to get vocal every once in a while, though. It's mostly because I really hate the McPherson strut suspension design. In my opinion, struts should be relegated to cheap Korean FWD econoboxes and all real cars should have proper SLA suspensions like the Mark VIII. The way I look at it, if you want your Mark to have struts that bad, go get a Mark VII:D

Glad to hear it. I'd have a good set of OEM's if I could afford it. So far, my Arnotts are doing quite well over a year later. I'm knocking on a lot of wood and crossing all my fingers and toes:)

my arnotts are doing well too. a little softer than i'd like, but quiet, smooth, and hold air for weeks straight.

I bought my 98' with Arnotts that were just installed at 88k. Now at 133k and still doing fine but do feel a bit on the soft side.

Decided to crank her up. Thought my sunroof was going to self destruct. It's stupid loud. So much so that I might take em' out.

Grew some balls and finally decided to crank her up. Thought my sunroof was going to self destruct. It's stupid loud. So much so that I might take it out.

I don't even miss mine. The 94 had one but I kept it shut 99% of the time. The 95 doesn't have one and I never wished it did. Just never cared much for them.

This is the first car i've owned w/ one. I used to have it open all the time. Not so much anymore.

Well, as fast as I put them in.......

Out they came. Type r's are back in.

Got the extra grille in that I bought off another member here. This thing must have been replaced at sometime or another or the car was garage kept because it looks almost identical to my 2 year old garage kept grille. It is in excellent shape and all mounting tabs are there. No dullness anywhere on it.

It's now boxed back up and in the closet for safe keeping.

Two things I learned today (well, 10 minutes ago)

1. According to GPS, my car is about 10-12mph slower than what the speedometer reads w/ my 4.10's in.

2. My car does not have a speed limiter.... about 118mph w/ 4.10 gears

3. I still want 4.30's

i hate my sunroof until i get in a car without one. then i want it back again!

I love my sunroof! I've had 4 cars with sunroofs counting my '97 Mark. A '79 Lincoln Town Coupe, '80 Mustang coupe, and a '93 T-Bird 5.0 Sport. My '87 Mustang hatch had T-Tops, which is even better!

The LSC just tripped 200k miles today!

A sunroof will eventually leak. I hate sunroofs.

Soo much to the point I put a solid roofskin on my '88 Mustang.

That was a lot of spot welds

Uh I disagree as I had anything from 70's Beetles to my 80's CRX's and no leaks on em what so ever. Not well maintained vehicles either so

LOL'ing @ the pic in your sig to show everyone its called a shock instead of a strut.... lol

Yeah. Figured I'd get a chuckle or two outta that. I just couldn't help myself:D

But you know there will still be those who insist on incorrectly calling them struts. Even though the company that designed the car calls them shocks. Like I said, if you insist on having a Mark with strut front suspension, go get a Mark VII.;)

You must be an exception to the rule of dryrotting rubber seals. Lol

Sorry but the Beetle was dry rotted and didn't leak any water into the headliner. Reason being I made sure there was no dirt or leaves plugging the drain tubes up.

Had a Moon Roof in my GN and it really makes me wish my Mark had one.

mine was broken for awhile. i hated it. i love having a sunroof. especially this time of year.

I have to wonder if you will really feel any difference going from 4.10 to 4.30's.... May want to consider just going straight to 4.56's.

I've honestly thought about it. I fear it may be TOO much gear. 4.10 is almost enough to do it for me.

Id have to drive a Mark w/ 4.56's first before I made that jump
