What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

Forgot to mention this morning that my blend door mysteriously started working again. I can now control the temperature of the interior again. Throughout most of the winter, I just had it set on 90 and told my wife not to mess with it if she drove it. Unfortunately, every time she drove it she'd forget and turn it down and I'd have to do the glove compartment trick to get it to blow warm air again. But now it seems to be working fine. I tested it out yesterday because it has been very warm lately, and I was able to make it warm and cool. So I have no idea what happened, but maybe it will keep working for a while. The guy I bought it from said he had already done the blend door repair so I wasn't too worried about it. Crossing fingers again...

Had a stoplight race with a (I believe) two door cl 55 v8 kompressor.
He let me take him to about 50 then he finally got on it and drove around me.
I was in my bone stock 95 not like it would have mattered if I was in the 97 though.
I love seeing nice cars go fast.

At E-town and saw an impressive Cobra loose
WTH?!

Same happened to me a while back, except the car I was beside was an 07 Caddy XLR-V. That was the dumbest red light race I ever attempted. He left me like I was sitting still. 443-hp, supercharged V-8 will kill a stock Mark with ease. I thought I was doing something while he was in first gear but when he shifted to 2nd, he was gone.

Just got my new rear shocks installed this afternoon. All I can say is WOW! WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! It's like riding in a different car! But I have to say I experimented a little. Instead of getting shocks for a T-Bird, I found a set of brand new heavy duty Gabriel Gas Rider shocks for a 1969 Ford Galaxie for a steal. I figured what the heck. The '69 Galaxie is a huge, heavy car so the shocks should be pretty stiff. So if I get heavy duty versions, then it would substantially stiffen up the rear end of my Mark. And guess what, it did! It's so stiff now, I can barely push the back end down using all my weight. It rides better, handles better, and doesn't sidestep over bumps anymore. Apparently, my completely and utterly worn-the-flyin'-heck out 200k mile original shocks were completely useless. Now the car drives amazingly. It's not as squirrely as it used to be either. I like it a lot!

dont you just love new parts? :D

Oh heck yeah! I drove it to work this morning and there were a few spots in the road where the car used to sidestep so bad it felt like it was going to bounce off in the ditch. Now it just glides right over the bumps without a second thought! And it doesn't nosedive under hard braking as bad as it did before. It's amazing how much of a difference the little things make:)

And on a side note, I think I spoke too soon about my blend door. It wouldn't work this morning. It was a little chilly out so I turned it up all the way to 90 and nothing but cold air was blowing out. Did the glovebox trick and had warmth all the way to work. I guess I'll be doing the dreaded blend door eventually:(

Put on the chrome 20 spokes. Good bye crusty, peely, leaky 10 spokes.

They'll have to grow on me a bit. They date the car a little too, but atleast they look nice.

I looked for another Mark VIII to buy, and found a 1998 LSC with 55K in a grocery store parking lot. The original owner brushed back her blue hair and said I could have her car for $4000. I am in the process of pawning my children in order to purchase her car. Its like its 1998 again, the car is perfect.

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the comments!! Not on the Mark, but installed clear headlights, turns and markers and billet grill insert on my Exploder yesterday.

Took it in to have 2 tires switched from my old 10's onto the 20 spokes, fixed a few little things and washed her above and below. Threw in some leather cond, clean the window's, vaccuumed, armor all and put in the summer floor mat's.

She's purty :)

Started over hauling the new mark, complete front suspension rebuild, coil conversion, t bird sway bar, new cross drilled rotors and ceramic pads all the way around, new shocks. Goes in for tint on Monday, looking for a mint rear bumper and some interior parts.

Had to do the glove box trick again to get the heat working this morning. Dammit. I have too many other things going on right now to have to worry about that stupid blend door. And I don't want to take the dash apart:( Every time I've ever taken a dash apart, it always squeaks and rattles when I get it back together. Oh woe is me.....

Put it off for another 7 month's.

What part of NC are you in?

If you can get that car down here to Columbia, SC, we can get your blend door fixed in a couple hours. Anything else too...

That sounds like a good deal. But I live in West End. That's probably a good 3 hours away. I'd definitely have to plan ahead and take a day off work. I'm very interested. I'll PM you if I can work something out. Thanks!!!
