Yeh, I remember when Georgia used to have cheap fuel for years, now it's South Carolina I've noticed is always the cheapest...

anyone have a extra key switch and key for a 97 or 98 lsc? i looked on ebay and they list several different ones listed and i want to make sure i get the right one.
thanks ken

Just remembered how much I $&@?#&# HATE winter! First 20 degree day and the MFing locks froze..no matter how much I blow gun the hell out of the locks/handles/and lock mechanism in the door jamb after getting wet or washing the car..they still freeze and I can't turn the damn lock with my key! I use that graphite lube in the key hole and turn the locks back and forth numerous times and they still freeze!!!! I give up, I'm just gonna start taking eveything of value out of my car and leaving the damn thing unlocked on cold nights..this sh*t is rediculous.

Tried it, tried pb blaster also, but you can't spray it in the actual lock tumbler part that physically rotates left and right, just putting it in the key hole doesn't do anything.

Also sometimes the key pad works and sometimes even the lock mechanism in the door is frozen also and the electric motor isn't strong enough.

I'm gonna have to take the damn door handles out and take the lock apart to clean and lube it up..cause this is just retarded..this shouldn't be that complicated lol.

I feel your pain. Mine are def worse than they were last year. Drivers side actuator makes a god awful noise but works just enough to unlock it if unlocked a couple times.. The keyholes aren't working on either door..

The ice from last night is screwing everything up.

Would windshiels de-icer liquid, the same stuff that goes in the windshield washer bottle not work? As the key is put into the lock, pour a little in the hole and some down in between the window and lock area...

If you know rain is coming, maybe use some good shipping tape and tape a small portion of plastic to the glass to cover the whole lock area. That way, it can't get wet with something that will freeze. Just a couple of ideas.

Been there, done that with the frozen locks with several cars. Key de-icer or you wind up blowing hot air on them until you can finally get them to turn.....

Yeah from now on when I wash it I'm just going to use packing tape over the whole door handle..hopefully it'll seal water out.

To keep it on the cheap through the winter, the Dollar General sells a brand made by "Duck" and I use it for all of my shipping and packaging. It's some pretty good tape and comes with a dispenser. Now I just keep buying rolls only for the same dispenser I have had now for 2 years. I'd just get the dispenser with the roll that comes with it and maybe an extra roll for other needs too besides the car only. It shouldn't harm your paint either. I used it back when I painted on the black 94 and it worked out well.

Another idea that you might want to invest in is a car cover, water proof for those rainy days and nights and snow. No ice scraping to worry with or doors being frozen. If I ever hit the lottery, we're getting you a garage for that car because it's a pretty Mark and it deserves it's own bedroom. :)

replaced the fuel pump and added fresh gas. started right up. pulled codes missfire 1 and 4 . test driove and trans shifts great. just need to reseal air ride. total so far under $1000.

Guy I sold my Silver '98 to called me to tell me the car wouldn't start and the Alarm light was on? I had him arm and disarm it, then unlock it with the key from outside.

Turns out it did what had happened to me once on the car. He turned the headlights off and the car started right up. Not like it was cranking slow or anything, it would not crank at all and the Security light would flash when he tried to start it?

My '96 did this exact same thing to me too.

Anyone else ever have this problem?

got a bunch of parts, cleaned out the garage (some) to make room..then started the replace oil filter adapter gasket job on my new 96 project......got frustrated then knocked off failing to grab the pinch clamps on that 3'' coolant hose between therm housing and o.f. adapter...major pita
-I'm just using long handled channel locks, is there a better tool for grabbing those suckers?

There's quite a few 98s that won't start with headlights on, mines like that
